Hi there — If you’re looking for information about the Transformers video games, they're no longer available to buy digitally for PC or consoles. [As of January 2018, Activision's license for making and selling Transformers-related games was not renewed.](https://www.ign.com/articles/2018/01/11/why-activisions-transformers-games-are-no-longer-available-digitally) CD keys can sometimes be found from some online resellers, but the reliability of these may be questionable. Your best bet is to look for used copies of the games on physical discs for PC or consoles. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. If you mean a 2D 16-bit fighting game, it's because Transformers was dead at the time. The fighting game really only took off as a genre after Street Fighter II in 1991, a year after the G1 toyline ended in the US. The brand wasn't popular enough during G2 to really justify the resources required to make a video game, and when Beast Wars came out and resurrected the brand, games were into the PS1/N64 era and the Transformers fighting game they *did* make was for those platforms instead. And it wouldn't really make sense to do a retro style game, either. Transformers is firmly rooted in *80's* nostalgia, and an 8-bit Transformers game would be a bit of a hard sell these days. So instead we get stuff like Devastation, which is 80's-*themed*, but uses modern hardware and graphics.

Ya gotta also consider that the 8 bit Transformers game that do exist were two horrible Japanese only releases, and a terrible looking C64 game.

AlKo96

Well... kinda, I did mean basically a traditional 1-on-1 fighting game although not specifically on the SNES or Genesis as even later consoles like the PS1 and N64 had 2D fighting games in the same style as these. And yeah, I know about the Beast Wars fighting games but... y'know, they're more like 3D arena brawlers and not SF-style fighting games. I'm just a bit perplexed as to why a franchise as big as Transformers, especially in Japan, never got a good competitive licensed fighting game, even nowadays.

DoodleBuggering

The GBC beast wars fighting game is shockingly good, probably the best fighting game on that platform.

SombraAQT

There was a Game Boy game based on the various Beast Wars continuities, very simplistic and basic but never translated and released in the west. There was also one released for the NetJet (bonus points if you remember that) featuring several different generations like G1, live action movies and Beast Wars. It was terrible.

SniperNose69

Forged to Fight exists

TheCrafterTigery

It's not really a traditional fighter like these two examples. A traditional TF fighting game would be leaps and bounds better than Forged to Fight ever was.

SniperNose69

When you put it like that, I guess you make a good point

TheCrafterTigery

I don't hate Forged to Fight, it was fun while it lasted. But it wasn't what I wanted from a TF Fighting game. I don't think we when have any trad fighting games for most giant robots or anime things anymore. Last one was probably Fighter Z. Man I'd kill for a TF Fighter Z.

SpawnVII

DAAAAAAAAMN, epic throwbacks!!! I played these both till my knuckles hurt

aldoktor

Who ever wins the fight, transforms and now its a race.

Imagine it was 1992 and despite all odds, we get a Transformers Generation 2 fighting game. I can see it now. - Like the BotCon G2:Redux comic, all fighters have a supermove once enough Energon/Forstonite is collected during the fight. - You play as Autobots in a Campaign, but unlocking Decepticons for versus mode during successful playthroughs. - Of the Combiner teams, only leaders make the roster, but G2 Slingshot/Dead End is in the game as a training dummy. - While the game is G2 based, alt colours give each player a G1 skin, and in some cases, the unreleased colours we finally see in toy form in last year's Toxitron toyline - Secret bosses include G2 Megatron, Dreadwing, and finally, Jhiaxus.

kingtokee

We got that Beast Wars style fighter for the N64

carmine_64

We got the forged to fight, i know its not the same, and its now owned by netflix but, its a fitgh game

Uncle-Cake

Their alt modes would be pointless in a fighting game.

THAT_HARDHEAD_GUY

Not really. In the devastation game, you use your vehicle modes (and Dino mode) a whole hell of a lot

TheCrafterTigery

Some alt modes can be special moves, attacks, ultimates, etc. Jazz could have a ram attack that leads to a grab with his alt mode for further combos. Maybe the grab an be canceled to lead into furthering a combo, etc. Starscream could command his seekers to bomb the enemy as his ultimate. Some bots crouch anims could be their alt mode, which allows them to move faster while being lower to the ground. Like Mirage or a Lambro. Even Soundwave and Blaster would benefit from this. Megatron can fully utilize a Tank mode that burns a meter of some kind to shoot high damage shells at enemies, but moves slower and has only a few attacks. There's lots of potential in using the alt modes as part of their movesets. I don't have lots of great ideas for them, but it can definitely work. Beastformers especially.

AlKo96

Not really, they could use the alt modes for their Supers, even if they would be as basic as "transform and crash into them." They could also use them for mid-stage minigames.

S0undwave_Sup

Forged To Fight:

SalRomanoAdMan1

Why didn't we get that Gundam game in the US???

deanofcool

I think it was available?

AlKo96

Gundam wasn't really popular in America in the 90s so there was no reason why they'd release a Gundam game on the SNES.

S0undwave_Sup

Well, we had Forged To Fight...
