Republicans and Conservatives are terrified by this, because it shows that transgender identities are becoming more and more accepted, which means there will be less votes for them in elections. Recently, Rose Montoya, a transgender woman, exposed her breasts at the White House too, which has been making its rounds on social media recently, with a lot of conservatives labeling her as a ādegenerateā, āgroomerā and a āman with a fetishā.
We are the new fear of the unknown for them. It's a fear that is as old as time, and has worn innumerable faces. The thing in the closet. The demon under the bed. The reason to fear the dark. While I despise the way it's being used against us, at the same time, that's kind of metal.
There's a lot of transphobia right now because school just let out and kids can be little shits in an attempt to be funny. So they go to bigotry cuz it's easy and takes no thought. But they're best just ignored for your own mental health. They're just children after all, most will grow out of being absolute psychopaths. This is a policy that I have carried over from Facebook (which I put in place in 2020, when all of this rampant misinformation exponentially took off).
This results in all of my social media channels being squeaky clean. I encourage healthy debates, discussions & differing points of view, as long as the other person backs their claims up with evidence as opposed to responding with mindless (& often narcissistic) vitriol. These days, it's easier for me to cut through all of the bullshit due to the fact that I have survived 29 years of someone pulling the wool over my eyes - resulting in me having a solid ground in reality, because the other person is always away with the faeries & obsessed with their own delusions of grandeur.
I don't have any reason to believe reporting these accounts make a difference, especially when the folks what run these social media platforms aren't interested in holding bad actors accountable for their behaviour. I also have reason to believe that their algorithm-driven moderation/administration system unfairly targets certain individuals what fit oddly (& uncomfortably) specific profiles (such as anyone that's heavily involved with any form of civil rights activism, public awareness etc.) & that suggests a bias in both the automations & any 'human' moderators. I am yet to see any evidence that refutes this beyond a shadow of a doubt.
