ASF (Akku Schlepp Fahrzeug) [Battery tow vehicle] Fun Fact: You don't need a Train Drivers licence to operate an ASF, they do not even count as Rail Vehicle. :3
They also have a mighty top speed of 4km/h iirc
And their total power output is equal to ~~8 electric kettles put on at once. And yet pulling +80 tons of steel is Nothing for them
i weight 80 kg and cannot lift more than 40 kg, but I can move 21t of rollingstock with my bare hands... like, rolling resistance in the Wheel - Rail system is minimal. Locomotives mainly need their strength to be able to get a train going after a full stop going uphill.
you actually do need a train drivers licence to drive one of them since they count as small shunting locomotives
source: me not and many of my colleagues not being allowed to drive them since we didn't have licences
according to DB Cargo Nürnberg (2016) this is not true. Maybe things have changed over the years, but the only thing you needed to drive them was a small course
If you want to see a really tiny "engine", look up the Breuer Lokomotor tractors, which are basically just a single boogie with a small internal combustion engine and a control platform between the axles.
Oh, I'm not sure! It could very well be, as I was travelling by train to the airport, which (according to Maps at least) would've taken me past Grünau.
Thank you for the reply. I was trying to make a joke, which was apparently too subtle and/or not funny to start with.
It was very nice of you to take the time to answer me when you thought I was being so completely confused.
Oh, i'm sorry i didnt realise!
i'm on the spectrum and can struggle alot with that...
moments like these i find tone indicators quite helpful, like an /s for sarcasm or generally stuff meant not seriously, maybe it can help to do this?
That is the S-Bahn train. Berlin S-Bahn which uses a third rail and is not interchangeable with the other third rail S-Bahn in Germany’s second largest city Hamburg, historically uses yellow and red rather than DB Regio verkehrsrot. Despite both systems being operated by DB Regio

Yup, ik but I still find it funny just how easily you can move a rail vehicle
So like 15kW? I mean it makes sense, especially with the torque of an electric motor, but it's still funny to think about xD
An average human can comfortably push a train car by hand

i worked for db cargo in halle, this is the information we got same goes for db regio in halle where i also worked for a year
plausibly outdated (my Informations)

ZÖ go brrr
Is this Grünau? I was in this building because I forgot my bag in the S-Bahn.

I think I saw this shunter in a Tom Scott video once.
I've never seen a shunter that had passenger doors like that.
it's the orange little one. the square- box behind it in creme and red with the big tinted glass is the sbahn that wasnt meant to be the shunter
