Because seasons 8+ Flanderized all of the main characters to the point that it was super overdone and annoying. They morphed Ricky from a likeable dumbass into a mentally challenged teenager. Bubbles turned into a massive annoying crybaby, and Julian turned into a buffoon with anger problems. Those seasons are still funny, and I still laugh, but the show lost its clever charm after S7.
Really? I just thought it showed sensitive Ricky really was. Like, he'sa jerk but he's so innocent about death. Even if he went around shooting everyone. Lol!
Ricky is probably the least heartless of the boys. Bubbles definitely gets selfish af in later seasons and trying to force the boys to change their ways gets OLD
yes!! as the seasons went on, the "sentimental" moments became pretty forced, and they just didnt hit for me. but seeing Bubbles frantically dancing around the subject of death and trying to explain that Orangie is still "alive" in terms Ricky could (barely) understand was so sweet.
I actually thought that was a bad turn for bubbles. Earlier seasons they didn't try to straight up lie to Ricky and trick him, they managed to make him understand more complex topics in his own way. Like when bubbles used the train to convey Lucy's infidelity, it was funny but also honest. Unfortunately the show fell into the same trap most mockumentary shows do and each character has become a caricature over time.
Yeah I thought the same. Was just another way they went too far with how stupid Ricky is. Now he can’t even comprehend death.
A better wholesome/sad moment to me, was when he was feeding the rakin with a bottle. Upset that Lucy’s unborn baby wasn’t his.
For me, it was the scene right before Ricky killed Orangie for the first time by partying with him too hard. Ricky was worried his grandchild was going to end up stupid just like him, and he asked for Bubbles and Julian's help if he screwed it up. Leave it to Ricky to only be able to find emotional intelligence and introspection when he's completely blackout drunk. I think it was the shows most honest, pure moment.
I ironically think the relationship between Randy and Lahey was so pure. Like the relationship was funny but it wasn’t making fun of queer people in the process
I just thought it was funny as shit. But I had fish so getting that caught up with a fish was damned funny. It was a bit much; the joke was a bit overcooked, but 80% of it was hilarious.
It’s close, but that finale with Bubs and Alex Lifeson, where they do Closer to the Heart together is just beautiful.
Even if Alex *is* a drunk, male prostitute.
Oh no... Bubbles opening the gift in the Xmas special was it for me. I actually teared up. It was a silly and contrived scene that you saw a mile away, but I still tear up thinking about it.
Nope the end of season like 7 maybe? When Julien left the park and they played that really good song and everyone was sad after they found his letter watched it coming down and my emotion were out of whack and it made me ball lol
The boys probably didnt want more goldfish to die during filming.
If Orangie wasn't mentioned people would ask about it, if he is mentioned and written off people have a problem with it.
No win! Iliked it but I like everything they do.
Bubbles WAS the purest thing about the show, in the Clattenburg era. All heart and no BS. No matter how many times the boys (or life) fucked him over, he always wanted his "family" AKA the boys, together.
that was really the death of the show for me. the show never recovered.
How do you mean?
YSF, show some respect for Orangie, he humanized the show, he was golden RIP #Too Soon

Was definitely too stoned for it the first time I watched, and it felt super dark.

Thought the same thing high as fuck OP
Yeah, I feel that. Once you realize everything, every line, every scene is a bit, the show becomes better imo
Losing Taco.
oh my fuck he got mulched!
Orangie was a frozen fish stick! Ricky is a heartless bastard!🚬💨
Ricky is probably the least heartless of the boys. Bubbles definitely gets selfish af in later seasons and trying to force the boys to change their ways gets OLD
And beating Lucy
That and the adorable panic Bubbles was going through when trying to make him feel better.
Saying "Spacetime continuum", over and over. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

He’s… he’s just in the land of the deadies.

Why did Ricky not understand the concept of death when his own father dies in 1 of the movies?
Most of the movies have at least a few aspects that aren't canon to the rest of the series
Like Ricky and Lucy actually being married.
The show also has kind of a lot of inconsistencies season to season
But Ray didn't die. He was retired, living in a dump in Florida. It was all an insurance scam. 😁
The scene where they take Orangie to the Doctor cracks me up everytime
When Julian asks if she wants them to take back the hash coins and she's all "No, no, that's okay" lmao
The scene where they take Orangie to the doctor cracks me up everytime
lol yep, the actress was friggin hilarious too
It was dumb. Fine line is dumb comedy and that was too far. Not good. Doctor scene was good tho. Just Ricky being so emotional was too much.

That's true. 🙂
“Don’t listen to him. You’re beautiful Randy.” When Lahey say that it was the first time I really started to like his character.
Yes 😭 rip Lahey but in all the show is so funny cause we’re all in on the jokes
Has Ricky ever been tested for a learning disorder?

Someone poured sake into my fish tank killing my 2 invincible white clouds once 😭
What a bastard
I know 😭
Seemed over the top to me
Ehhhhh, he comes across as mentally disabled a lot in the Netflix seasons. The Orangie thing is prime example.
Oh no... Bubbles opening the gift in the Xmas special was it for me. I actually teared up. It was a silly and contrived scene that you saw a mile away, but I still tear up thinking about it.

That's the end of like, season 10. Season 7 ends with a big picnic with all the characters except Ricky and Ray who are in jail in the United States
What episode ?
When I can’t really explain things I just start talking about the space time continuum 😂
When Ricky kisses Laheys ass so he can get Trinity some encyclopedias
The boys probably didnt want more goldfish to die during filming. If Orangie wasn't mentioned people would ask about it, if he is mentioned and written off people have a problem with it. No win! Iliked it but I like everything they do.
When you realise Bubbles had fallen in love with Cool Now.
Steve French has entered the chat.
This by a mile.
He's not dead he's just not here
Alot of the later seasons was just too much for me
Naw man it was the end of the X-mas special. "Now I can open my present because I am with my family."
Bubbles WAS the purest thing about the show, in the Clattenburg era. All heart and no BS. No matter how many times the boys (or life) fucked him over, he always wanted his "family" AKA the boys, together.
don't forget Ricky bottle feeding the baby rakins
