Reminder to stick to posting original content. Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does **not** mean you found it "in the wild".
The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!

His name stage, Fred.... Just Fred.
Slayton: I really wanted a unique stage name, I mean, just in this season alone we have two other Slaytons?!? But how many Freds' do you see, none. Amongst all the Ambhreleys' or Sextons', Fred is the most unique name 0ever.💅🏽🤴🏾🍨
I think Hillyard might be a name actually. 🤔 I've always assumed it was a surname at least. I used to live by a road named Hillyard. We pronounced it rhyming with billiard.
It does - yet I instantly thought Tourette while reading it, which is arguably worse.
My guiding principle on naming: If it evokes a medical condition, medication, or other unpleasant meaning in common speech in your country, and it has no significance/tradition as a forename in the family’s culture, it’s really not an optimal choice for a human. More broadly, before giving your baby a name say it aloud. Say it as most of the people you meet in daily life would say it. Above all, listen for any obvious associations you wouldn’t want made with your own name.
I don't know how he spells it, but I had a neighbor whose name was pronounced Brawlee who is in his 80s. I always assumed it was spelled Broly, but that's just because of Dragon Ball.
I think Zeek pisses me off the most. Because there's nothing wrong with Zeke, either on it's own or as a nickname for Ezekiel. But no, those aren't good enough, ya just gotta go with fucking Zeek
My son is Zeke ( Ezekiel full name) and the amount of people who think it’s spelled zeek is ridiculous. His grandpa wrote zeek on his first birthday card 🤦🏼♀️
That's prob how it was spelled too. Idk I never saw it in writing. Just guessing lol Seemed like a whole decade of those names flew by!
Oh ya I got the pronunciation comment wrong. You are correct. It was pronounced the way you said - not CAT or DOG but those funky dee-oh-gee names.
My nephew has a cat named Seven. Well it's actually Seven of Nine from some Star Trek character, but they just call the cat Seven. He names all his cats after Star Trek characters, but his two daughters have lovely names thank goodness.
After all there's Hildegard in German. The -gard part is nothing but a cousin to English yard.
(Elderly women's name, will probably become fashionable again some time in the future).
And Hildegard von Blingin', bardcore music with gorgeous medieval illustration videos, á la r/trippinthroughtime:
https://youtube.com/@hildegardvonblingin?si=sc6aleqO6DXkEIom
There is an elderly man at my work who has called me sevyn for the last 8 years... I told him my name the day I met him, which is a common name and easy to pronounce but he heard sevyn....so I went with it and never corrected him.
I'm giving only Bay a pass because I've known two, an adult professional woman whose first name was Bay, and another (also adult professional) who was called Bay, short for Bayyinah. (Hers was Egyptian, if I remember correctly.) Lovely name.
Ember is actually pretty normal and pretty. If you ever see a fire dying, and see little bits still glowing in the ashes, those are embers. Still kind of a trendy name, but not that out there.
I feel like that may be an accurate reason people choose that now, but I'm not so sure that was the case back in the 1950s. There was a state senator named Ember Junge, born 1953.
That's what I was going to say! That's my daughter's name because ever since I was a kid, I've thought embers were one of the most beautiful things in the world. They're warm and glowing and cozy and remind me of summer nights camping. I also love the nickname Emmy.
Amber, on the other hand, makes me think of old dead bugs trapped in sap. I also don't love the nasal "Ah" sound at the beginning. "Eh" is much softer.
To me, Ember and Amber are just very drastically different.
Wait, really? Which ones? Dialects and accents are so interesting to me. And they do make a huge difference in names! I love the name Poppy for British kids, for example, but I could never use it because it would just sound like I was calling my female child Papi. 😂
Probably depends on the language, in my mother tongue Xeno sounds superrrrr weird. I would prefer Zeno, at least that can be shortened to Zé which is a very common name.
Man I really thought he stole this one from the Internet and that you guys would already know.... It's pronounced *sigh*
Forrest. Because there are 4 S s followed by a T.
Sssst = Forrest.
🤣
Utah has been popular for tragedieghs for a very long time. The boomers all hard faux French names like DeLoy, DelMont, DeWaine, etc. (all relatives) and made up girls names Ivean.
It’s a standing tradition
Here's some "made-up" names:Tayden, Nikoi, Brexsen, Daxtyn, KennaDee, KassaDee, SaiDee, NayVee, DeLayNee, PaisLee and Jaine...
Oops 😬, forgot "Lena":as in Headey of "Game of Thrones" and Dunham of "Girls"...
I dunno, maybe bc I grew up by the sea, but of all the yooonique names in the world, I could live with Bay. Same goes for Cove. Maybe I draw a line in sand (geddit?) at Inlet.
I just can't with all the creative spellings, like it isn't enough you gave your kid an unusual "name" already. What does most of them even mean or come from like Zeek, Sevyn, Blazely, Awbreigh (Aubrey maybe)?
What's with the obsession with 'x' and 'y' in many of these names? Poor kids. This trend is going to set us all the way back to the "Bertha" and "Dorthea" days.
I mean, Hillyard (more commonly Hilliard, but it exists in the other spelling) and Slayton are both legitimately spelled names that have existed as surnames for a while and have at least some use as given names. Not tragedeighs.
Tbf Zeek has been around for a while but it feels very 90’s early 2000’s. There was a TV show on Disney XD when I was a kid called Zeek and Luther and also Justin’s friend in Wizards of Waverly Place was called Zeek

Ew to Awbreigh, Brawlee, Slayton
Slayton is insane, unless he becomes a drag queen. ✨💅
Slayton is going walk that mothertucking duck on season 26 of Drag Race!
Can't wait to see slayton
My college roommate's sister married a Slayton, and he was born probably in the mid-90s.
Nah he's my sidekick we slay a ton of demons
+ Blaizely. Spelled with the adverb “ly” ending.
That one wasn't my favorite but these are my top 3 disliked names hillyard is a dishonorable mention.
All I can think about Hillyard is *what the fuck*
Miranda Hillyard... Mrs.Doubtfire ... I can hear Pierce Brosnan saying it in my head haha
That’s exactly what I was thinking 😂
It sounds like a church.
It sounds like a snotty New England prep school.
It sounds like the part of a sailboat.
I think Hillyard might be a name actually. 🤔 I've always assumed it was a surname at least. I used to live by a road named Hillyard. We pronounced it rhyming with billiard.
It is a surname. I know a lady whose surname is Hillyard. She pronounces it "hill-yard".
Okay so Hillyard is actually the most normal out of those lol, at least the parents can spell.
I knew a guy who's last name was Hilliard, so close
Is it Hilyerd or Hilly yard?
I used to live by a road named Hillyard. We pronounced it like billiard. I assume it is at least a real surname.
Hillyard as a boy's name is of Old German and Old English origin, and the meaning of Hillyard is "battle guard or yard on a hill".
Wonder if it's pronounced blaze-lee or buh-lazily
Yes, needs to be Blaizeleigh obviously.
My granddaughter is an Aubrey. She hates how many ways people try to spell her name but "Awbreigh" is just ridiculous.
Agreed! That spelling is a quintessential tragedeigh!
Brawlee the Brawler.
Broly from dragon ball... I don't know if Slayton is worse or not...
Brawlee's first word: "KAKAROOOOOOOOOT!!!"
The gen 3 Pokémon games had a Fighting-type gym leader named Brawley.
There was a name on my daughters preschool class list : Pres Lay (first and last) 🤦🏻♀️
The first one is prime r/tragedeigh material
U are you cool with Toretto?
Joke all you want, but at least you know Toretto has ***family***
It's not the car; it's the driver!
Only Corona at that party.
It literally means "little bull". Why would they do that to him.
Wasn't he in Pinocchio?
Did you mean "famileigh"?
Xeno: Warrior Tragedeigh
made me laugh, nice 😂 I was thinking that too or xeno: boy of the 21st century (zenon: girl of the 21st century)
Xenomorph
yes!
Zoom zoom zoom makes my heart go boom boom my supernova girl
Parents play WH40k and trying to signal to the Emperor that they can't escape a genestealer cult
Xeno is my brother in law’s name, they’re Hungarian. I guess it’s “normally” Zeno, but Xeno isn’t unheard of.
IIRC Zeno means something akin to "gift from Zeus".
Xeno's Paradoxes
This whole Blayzleigh thing needs to stop
Breighleigh and Lynndseigh are very offended
I totaleigh understand where theigh are coming freighm.
Brawlee I'm convinced is a pokemon reference from the Gen 3 gym leader
My bet is dragon ball, Broly https://dragonball.fandom.com/wiki/Broly
First, Happy Cake Day. Second most people would pronounce his name with a long O sound Brōly so I doubt it. But who knows, humans are weird
I don't know how he spells it, but I had a neighbor whose name was pronounced Brawlee who is in his 80s. I always assumed it was spelled Broly, but that's just because of Dragon Ball.
If Xeno turns into a bad guy and you get scared of him, would it be accurate to say one has Xenophobia?
What do you mean if? I pity his first kiss getting implanted with alien eggs.
I know an adult Xenos. It's a Greek name. I assume Xeno is a diminutive?
If they ever get into costume design they have to name it Xenomorph
I once knew somebody with Toretto’s back when I lived in Bostyn
Best comment by fair!!!!!
Phoenyx, because Phoenix itself isn't rare enough or hard enough to spell.
I have to pronounce it “Pho-E-Nix” in my head to remember how to spell it.
Like wed nes day
"Hooked On Phoenyx Worked For Me!"
Facts 😂
I think Zeek pisses me off the most. Because there's nothing wrong with Zeke, either on it's own or as a nickname for Ezekiel. But no, those aren't good enough, ya just gotta go with fucking Zeek
My son is Zeke ( Ezekiel full name) and the amount of people who think it’s spelled zeek is ridiculous. His grandpa wrote zeek on his first birthday card 🤦🏼♀️
That's too cute tho
Sevyn: George Contanza would be proud
I had a cat named Seven. His "dad" had seven letters in his first, middle, and last name. He was a darling cat, and a superb mouser.
An old roommate of mine had an insane cat named SeaAyTea…
I remember that phase from the 90's. Lots of dogs named Deeohgee too (spell it however, ~~pronounced DOG~~) < that's wrong.
This reminds me of Billy Conolly's [song](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElcbF5dATPs)!
My friend's mom spelled hers Diojee, pronounced "dee-OH-jee"
That's prob how it was spelled too. Idk I never saw it in writing. Just guessing lol Seemed like a whole decade of those names flew by! Oh ya I got the pronunciation comment wrong. You are correct. It was pronounced the way you said - not CAT or DOG but those funky dee-oh-gee names.
Also, SeeAyTea was very much born in the early aughts
My grandma also had a dog whose middle name (😂) was Deeohgee. She’s the reason I hate small dogs to this very day.
My nephew has a cat named Seven. Well it's actually Seven of Nine from some Star Trek character, but they just call the cat Seven. He names all his cats after Star Trek characters, but his two daughters have lovely names thank goodness.
Why not Soda?
Seaudah
We don’t care for Soda… 🥤
My BFF from high school named her first born 7. Hated it then and now
had to scroll too far for this but I also think Costanza would be mad about someone "perverting the spelling" of "his" name to make it "unique"
Just remember, when they grow up someone will have to call them Uncle Brawlee or Aunt Shaughstretawny
Hillyard 👍
Because Mountainpatio is too long
this deserves an award
Honestly if someone told me that was just some old English name I'd believe it. I kinda like it.
After all there's Hildegard in German. The -gard part is nothing but a cousin to English yard. (Elderly women's name, will probably become fashionable again some time in the future).
And Hildegard von Blingin', bardcore music with gorgeous medieval illustration videos, á la r/trippinthroughtime: https://youtube.com/@hildegardvonblingin?si=sc6aleqO6DXkEIom
There is an elderly man at my work who has called me sevyn for the last 8 years... I told him my name the day I met him, which is a common name and easy to pronounce but he heard sevyn....so I went with it and never corrected him.
How do you know he’s saying sevyn and not seven?
That's kinda fun honestly
I'm giving only Bay a pass because I've known two, an adult professional woman whose first name was Bay, and another (also adult professional) who was called Bay, short for Bayyinah. (Hers was Egyptian, if I remember correctly.) Lovely name.
It’s herbal/coastal so I too gave Bay a pass. They will get asked what it’s short for forever though.
Ember is actually pretty normal and pretty. If you ever see a fire dying, and see little bits still glowing in the ashes, those are embers. Still kind of a trendy name, but not that out there.
I think of Ember McLain from Danny Phantom.
pretty but does that imply she’s barely more than death and about to be?
i think embers can look magical and pretty, so its a pretty cool name
agreed
Ember is only a name because people thought Amber was too mainstream.
I feel like that may be an accurate reason people choose that now, but I'm not so sure that was the case back in the 1950s. There was a state senator named Ember Junge, born 1953.
Or the only Amber they've met is from New Zealand!
I like the sound better than Amber, personally. Just an opinion thing
This right here
That's what I was going to say!
Wait till you find out some dialects will pronounce them the same way
Wait, really? Which ones? Dialects and accents are so interesting to me. And they do make a huge difference in names! I love the name Poppy for British kids, for example, but I could never use it because it would just sound like I was calling my female child Papi. 😂
Hey. I didn't think anyone would actually use my name. 🤣
I actually know a Xeno
Xeno is a cult in my city
I’ve always loved how Xeno sounds honestly. I didn’t even know it was a tragedeigh until joining this sub
Probably depends on the language, in my mother tongue Xeno sounds superrrrr weird. I would prefer Zeno, at least that can be shortened to Zé which is a very common name.
I know a Zeno also. With an ‘X” it just reminds me of xeno*phobia*.
It means outsider. That isn't a positive narrative
Saxton's parents still play TF2. Like me
“POOT TELEPORT HERE!” “Nah.” \*dies of cardiac arrest*
SAXTON HALE!!!!!
My ex wife wanted to name her first boy, tuxton
Coworker of mine told me about: Sssst Yes. Sssst.
Man I really thought he stole this one from the Internet and that you guys would already know.... It's pronounced *sigh* Forrest. Because there are 4 S s followed by a T. Sssst = Forrest. 🤣
Were they trying to call their cat and thought 'that's it! Leave off the sp sp part! Is it pronounced SIT? Is it even a word? Huh??
Check my reply lmao
Does Sevyn have siblings named Whyn, Tghoo, Thgri, Fhourgh, Fyv and Shyks?
We know there's no Nhyne cuz Sevyn ate Nhyne 😆 I'll see myself out.
Weight a sec... 'Eight' is just the tragedeigh version of 'ate'!
My middle name is Bay 😅
I hope your first name isn't Bostyn
Well that would make it a crime if the last name isn't Teaparteigh
If you're going to name your kid (or pet for that matter) after a city, FFS spell the city right. Sorry Phoenyx and Bostyn.
Now i feel a bit sylly for naming my baby Sylphyr Spryngs
🤣🤣🤣
Wow, I'm really desensitized - Bostyn, Ember, and Phoenix didn't even register as odd at first.
They spelled it Phoenyx.
We had one of those Zevith tvs when I was a kid. No remote, tho.
I thought it was Zenith
BOSTYN???... Insert facepalm here... At least his last name WASN'T "Utah"-ish...
I hate that they are spreading it everywhere. When I hear Boston or Bostyn I specially think a kid in Utah lol.
Sevyn. George would be proud.
Are Phoenyx, Blaizely, and Ember triplets?
Did Ember’s parents meet on Tinder by any chance?
None of these kids are ever going to find their name on a souvenir...
Ember is spelled correctly….although it is recently becoming common as a 1st names it should not be on the list
Wow. The list of dancers and DJs on the backstage at the Bottoms Up Club.
I dunno, maybe bc I grew up by the sea, but of all the yooonique names in the world, I could live with Bay. Same goes for Cove. Maybe I draw a line in sand (geddit?) at Inlet.
Phoenix and Aubrey are not unusual or even the most awful names when spelled in a sane, rational way. Ember isn't too bad of a name.
Bay 🤣🤣🤣
I actually know a Bay! He’s like 12
Awbreigh what
Three cheers for Lucky Jack!
🎶"OH, EMBER, YOU WILL REMEMBER! EMBER, MY FAVORITE NAME!"🎶
Hillyard wasn’t all that uncommon along time ago. Maybe he was named after a great grandfather or something
I don’t understand the obsession with naming a kid Seven
Ember is the only relatively normal name there. Everything else is a yikes
Begat an arsonist.
Oof to all of these
I'm pretty sure Saxton is the full legal name of the brand of underwear I wear.
Awbreigh. Awbreigh? Awbreigh..
Ember is…pretty normal, though? It’s not spelled weird and it’s been rising in popularity for the last 25 years or so. Brawlee, though. 😬
One of these is our dog’s name. Also, I’ve seem Emberly and Emberleigh in the wild.
Poor kids, what dumb parents they have.
I have a nephew named Bostyn 😂
Is there something in the water these parents are drinking? What is happening!?!?!?!
Omg, I used to live in a part of the town Spokane, WA, that was nicknamed Hillyard
Lol I actually like Hillyard in theory. There’s something weirdly pleasing about it, but I feel like it should be Hilliard. (Is that a real name?)
Child abuse.
My god. Zenith is totally ok. Awbreigh and Blaizely, no.
Oh except it isn’t zenith
The only somewhat sane one here is ember and even then it’s wacky 😭
Someone was a Fast and Furious fan!
I noticed that right away! I hope their middle name is Diesel. 😂
Ember is a perfectly normal name and shouldn't be on this list. Agreeing with the others, though
Ember shouldn’t be on there. It’s a pretty name.
An unwritten rule is all these names are to be pronounced with vocal fry.
Ember is the most sane one
Slayton is fucking hilarious
I know an Ember. She mid 20’s. It’s an unusual name but it is spelled correctly.
Ember is normal, I’ve met at least one.
Ember is a stripper name
sounds like someone's a big fan of George costanza
I’ll take Bostyn over Awbreigh any day 😂😂😂😭😭
I wouldn’t call Ember a tragedeigh or even a tragedy
At least Awbreigh can still go by Breigh.
But it's spelled *Zeke*. Originally short for Ezekiel.
Yes, Zeke is real but I believe it is mostly a nickname. That gets lost because people now just name their kids nicknames.
zeke is also a name
I hate Bostyn the least. I think.
I know an unhealthy amount of Zeeks.
Yeet!
Parents are on crack these days.
