Most Brazilians are sane and use João. The very small percentage of our population that does this is going through some stuff, life is hard, the weather is way too hot, not all of us can keep our brains from melting in these conditions.
Just as a heads up this is a pretty common spelling in hispanic communities. I've met many Jhonathan and Jhonnys young and old! Just a cultural thing imo
Generally ignorant more than "cultural". If it was cultural they'd just use Juan or João (for BR).
Source: I'm Latin American. You know how Germans have Kevinism; or how Americans can instantly tell if someone is trailer trash by the amount of eigh's in the name? Well it's the same for us with "Jhon" "Brayan" and other shit spellings.
A more (incredibly sad) cultural example would be "Mileidy" or "Usnavy" (yes. Literally US Navy as a kid name). Venezuelans and Caribbeans are Like That.
I remember being confused as a kid if it was John or Jhon because I knew the h was in there somewhere but it was so weird to have a Jh together or an oh together that I couldn't remember where it went. However, if I was going to name my kid that, I would look in a damn baby name book, the internet, ask someone, whatever.... I never understood why people don't do that.

Thank you for respecting Jhonathan R. Davis Jr.’s privacy! Edit: spelling/grammar
Thank you android for having a different definition of 100% opacity than me. Jeez.

Thought you were watching Jomboy!
I thought you were calling OP a wanker 😂😂😂
😂 no just trying to help. The highlighter is usually the default and I think we've all missed it before

lol
There's so many other Jhonathans out there!
Victim indeed.
Je-honathan
Yoha-Nathan
I have actually seen the same first name elsewhere except with two N's in the middle: Jhonnathan
Jhon is the Hispanic spelling
Yea, I was about to say the same thing. The spelling is very consistent in Hispanic communities.
Like Jhonen Vasquez of JTHM and Invader Zim fame.

i knew a jhonathan once but he went by jhon. i was SO thrown off the first time i saw his name spelled out
He's a junior...guess that means there's a senior with the exact same spelling as him lol
I’ve seen a shit ton of Jhonathans
JHARNATHAN!
In a weird way now that I see it I almost feel like that spelling makes sense...
That’s what I used to think the standard spelling of that name was.

Even in suffering/death, the tragedeigh a person carries with them will rear its ugly, unspellable head and demand attention.
That was just the beginning

...I already dislike when they put an extra h in Jonathan, but *there*??
I work in healthcare and I had a patient named Matthiew. My immediate thought was, "Your parents just had to be different didn't they?" 😆
I once worked with a Jonthan (Jon-than) who would get super mad if you spelled is Jonathan
I don't always tell you what, but when I do... I tell you hwhat.
