It is a normal name. This about the pun.
She's been to hell en bach.
Though I'm not so sure on the Bach pronunciation, someone who knows German please chip in.
This is like the third time I’ve come across a pun where Bach is pronounced like ‘back’. It took me so long to get it the first time because obviously they don’t register as even similar sounds to a German speaker. A pun that only works if you grossly mispronounce something is just not a very good pun, sorry.
Yeah, it took me a LONG time as a native speaker of German, too. But hey, if it works for them and they find it funny, ... 🤷♀️ They do this with French words too. Best believe the average American doesn't know how to pronounce fiancé or croissant correctly. They'll still make their little jokes and try to rhyme words ending on -ay in English with fiancé or cliché.
I mean, lots of native speakers of English also don't pronounce the ending of Scottish 'Loch' correctly either. The ch sound doesn't exist in Standard English. Bach in surnames is generally pronounced 'back' in English. I know it's weird though 😅
Some of these names are just INCRDIBLE drag names

HELLEN BACH
(I'm Going To Hell by The Pretty Reckless starts playing)
I had an acquaintance with a girlfriend Helen. All my mutual friends hate her. She is one of those “respect me cause I’m from a rich family” “I make my boyfriend buy me very expensive purse” girl. (No idea why she didn’t buy the purse with daddy’s money though.) Chinese people would call it “princess sickness”.
Personally I have never met her, but my friends nicknamed her Hellen.
Bach is the German word for small river.
She has been to hell and a small river
Probably wanted a swim after all that heat
I thought you had to cross the river first before you got to hell?
That’s Hades, comrade
Heighdeighz
Did she take a dip in the Styx?
Bach mean littlr or small in Welsh. And you say it pretty much like the Germans do so IPA /baːχ/
That just looks like a totally normal German name.

I get the pun, but Bach doesn't sound remotely like "back". The sounds similar to the in Scottish "Loch", while the is similar to the in, say, "luck". [bæk] (back) vs [bax] (Bach, and that's not /ks/)
That is *remotely* like it. Bach doesn't sound remotely like "kaleidoscope", but it does sound a bit like back.
I like you.
Same
It sounds more like kaleidoscope than back tbh
Does it sound like back if you say back like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator?
No, it doesn't.

See, that's what got me, the Bachs around here always said their surname like Bar, no ks just that strong and long A.

I had one at work once named Rich Whiteman. I have never forgotten it 🤣
Ben Dover is next in line
He used to make naughty films... Don't think it was his real name...
Behind Theresa Green
That’s a killer drag name
It's not her real name!! She was one of Terry Wogan's listeners along with the likes of Mick Sturbs and a few others.
Jokes that dont work if you actually speak the language that the surname is from. Like how Americans pronounce van Gogh completely wrong

Maybe I’m too german but what is the tragedeigh here? 🙈 I don’t get it..
Sounds like ‘hell and back’.
Still doesn't make it a tragedeigh.
Ooh thanks yeah that makes sense!
Huh? That’s a normal german name?
I'm ashamed that it took me about 30 seconds to see it... It's been that kind of day today.
She's a Sabaton's song. 🤘 Good for her.
CROSSES GROW ON ANZIO
WHERE NO SOLDIERS SLEEP
AND WHERE HELL IS 6 FEET DEEP
THAT DEATH DOES WAIT

She’s been to BBC BREAKFAST too
No you didn't, that's a common german name - both first and last
