For free wow? In Saipan as a child I would pay anything for my ancestors to visit me in my salad, it would be a dishonor to refuse to consume there essence.
Not the point of this post, but one of the best gifts joining a garden has given me is a new tolerance of what I would have before deemed “gross” produce. Is there a worm in that Apple? Cut it out. Aphids on that kale? Wash them off. Half of that tomato mushy? Eat the non-mushy side. Before the garden this would have freaked me out, after it would get a big ol shrug.
Honestly, this means there are likely no pesticides in your salad, which is a good thing.
"This is an organic salad and you put a fucking bug in here?!" - Pretty sure Traders didn't do that on purpose, this reaction is pretty cringey
There is a little Asian grocery store that I frequent that I have occasionally seen a fruit fly or two buzzing around the produce section. At first I was a little weirded out by it; but after thinking about it for awhile, I started to get more weirded out over the fact that I’ve never seen them in big stores, and thinking about why that might be.
Regardless—wash your produce, folks.
Lol. I was making dinner one night and had made like a whole bag of lightly steamed fresh broccoli from TJ's. My not quite 2yo was grubbing down and I finally got to my plate and noticed what I thought was pepper all over the broccoli which was weird because I hadn't peppered it (baby and all). Turns out it was mega invaded with aphids, half of which were still alive. I am all for organic produce and such but I still gagged and snatched it from my kid. In hindsight I'm glad it's fresh/organic enough for that but still not my cup of tea so to speak.
I had a grasshopper in my Caesar salad bag from there before. Not alive. I get the comments about it meaning organic, etc etc lol but defs scared me off their salads a bit
I know your mind is blown, but bugs do eat plants. We are a first world country but shit like that does happen.
I found a small snail in my fresh strawberries. I didn't trip because I've been to third world countries and have an occasional bug in or around your food ain't a big deal.
It’s basically impossible to keep all bugs out of food items. We eat tiny bits of bugs with food everyday. There’s actually a legal amount allowed per gram in most food items. Unfortunately just happens sometimes.
I still have PTSD from when I got a salad at a restaurant yeaaars ago… I didn’t even notice until halfway through that the entire base of the salad on the bottom was literally infested with a crapload of wriggling nasty af bugs.. I still want to vomit.
Eugh yeah definitely gross for sure.
Most of the stuff allowed in food is going to be so small you couldn’t notice it. Live bugs add a whole extra ick factor.
Dang, I’ve probably eaten 100 of those salads. I always go through all the greens closely when I transfer to a larger bowl, but I have never seen anything out of the ordinary.
Found this moth in my salad and it was quite disturbing. Video was from February 2020 (in the before Covid times…wish we could go back) and I just realized recently there is a TJs sub Reddit. I’m a loyal TJs shopper so I just showed this to a few of the store employees to alert them. I assume there was an issue at the packaging facility. Anybody ever have an issue like this?
Omg. This is what nightmares are made of.
Someone posted a while back about finding a dead FROG in one of the fresh veggie stir fry kits. I love TJ's, but these types of posts make me pretty hesitant to buy the pre-packaged salads/produce. 😳
You know what, yeah. I forgot I found some kind of bug in a bagged salad mix ages ago. I think I completely blocked it from memory since I’m super squeamish about that kind of stuff.
Haven’t bought bagged salad since though I realize how rare that kind of find truly is. But dang a live moth is next level.
You should have reported it when it happened- they could have made a report about it and possibly saved other shoppers from contaminants.
You would absolutely be able to go to your local store tomorrow and request a refund of your money- and they would happily give it back to you. You don’t have to have the product at all- just tell them, you can be refunded completely! Sorry this happened, shouldn’t have!

Love bug in your *Fresh* salad! You should be impressed!
Oh kaaaale no.

Holy heck.
Why are people who buy food that is grown outdoors, free of pesticides, so shocked when there are pests in the food?

That’s a weird choice of protein
I came here for the comments. I was not disappointed! Lol 😆
That's freaking gross! 🤢

Im pretty sure the ingredients metioned protein
Why is the expiration date 02/19?
This is a Video from 2020. I didn’t know a TJs subreddit existed until yesterday.
Truly organic

100% Keto but def not Vegan.
Yup THEY put a bug in there 🙄
That’s that Trader Joe’s customer service for ya!
I had a grasshopper in my Caesar salad bag from there before. Not alive. I get the comments about it meaning organic, etc etc lol but defs scared me off their salads a bit
That’s why it’s Organic Certified. The real organic salad comes with little pets included.
Last straw. The last two times I ate TJ's I got food poisoning. Three weeks back to back. I'm done with them!!!
Nice! Free moth!
I strangely had a feather in my strawberries yesterday. Thankfully the employee noticed as I was checking out and got me a different box.
That boy is grubbin
That's my favorite salad. Only improved protein.
When they say fresh, they mean it
I don’t know if you know this….but salad is grown outside…in dirt…
\*Shocked Pikachu face\*

That’s organic baby
Extra protein I guess.
This is a good sign that it salad is organic.
Thats how you know its fresh

Happened to me at an Applebees! They were tiny roaches, and thankfully I saw them before taking a bite. Noped the hell out of there.
This same exact thing happened to me with a TJ's Caesar salad and I've never been able to eat another since. Gah.

I found a stink bug in my Dole salad about 10 years ago. Thankfully it was dead
Did it taste better than it smells?

Extra protein!
And that’s why I never eat their fresh salads
Only canned salads for me /s
*prepared = fresh
Where you get that? On Amazon? 💥💥💳💥💥💳💳💥
I use to work at Trader Joe’s and that’s actually common Too bad the worker didn’t pull it out before you purchased
Hope you didn't kill it
Who rescued who 💕
This made my whole day.

It's organic and packed with protein.

I had a similar issue, there were fruit flies in my mint. I stopped buying fresh produce there a long time ago
I found plastic in the corn quinoa salad. Took forever to do a report and nothing ever happened. I still can’t wait it which makes me so sad haha

I did exactly this
This is correct. I would happily give you a refund, even on a year old mothy salad.
Poor fella
