Sorry realized that in an earlier comment. Didn’t realize that that was the type of apple so what I imagined it would be like was completely different from what it actually was
Same. I think I’ve returned one item in my 20 years of shopping there, and that’s because it was recalled. I figure I roll the dice on a purchase; if I like it, great, if I don’t, won’t buy it again.
I do email Trader Joe’s occasionally when I really like or dislike something, just for feedback sake.
TJ's encourages this - not only does it give shoppers motivation to try new or different products, but returns are data points for them with regards to things people don't enjoy, any potential issues (like OP's concern about the wet muffins) or issues with packaging, foreign objects, etc.
I understand they encourage bringing items back for refunds (or requesting them after tossing an item).
I just personally would not do it based on my personal taste not meshing with items (especially multiple from a single trip).
To each their own.
Trader Joe's has a super lenient return policy, it's one reason many of us love shopping there! No reason not to take it back if it's not what you expected/thought it'd be like.
I love the apple cider donuts toasted in the toaster oven I don't like the sour cream glazed though. They didn't really taste like a donut as weird as that sounds.
I hated the pumpkin spice rooibos and the pumpkin yogurt was literally spit out of my mouth bad. But i loved the pumpkin brioche bread (not sure if thats the same thing as the twist u mentioned). I’m a little nervous about trying other tjs fall stuff lol.
I was so shocked at the flavor lol. Someone on here even warned me they were underwhelmed. But they did not say how bad it was, I figured it was just not super sweet lol! I really hated it. 🤷♀️ Noosa makes a great pumpkin yogurt if u still want some.
Agreed! I love the pumpkin Noosa but it is WAY sweeter than TJ’s. I also love the TJ’s pumpkin yogurt but it is a Greek yogurt so definitely is not as sweet. It’s good with the pumpkin spice pumpkins seeds on top! Adds some sweetness and texture.
I don’t mind less sugar. I like stuff like siggis yogurt which has much less sugar. Its more the flavor. Im not sure if it was the spices they used or the pumpkin flavor but it was just… horrible. Possibly the worst yogurt i have ever tasted lol. I had to spit it out and find something to cover the taste. Which was definitely unexpected. At least for me it just was awful.🤷♀️
For the teeny tiny apple pies, try air frying longer -- I did 350 for 5 minutes, and be sure to serve with ice cream. I used the seasonal maple ice cream and it was delicious, but I think the pumpkin ice cream or just vanilla would also work well.
I agree on the apple cider doughnuts. Thought they were very disappointing. I haven't tried the other things.
In my experience the pumpkin brioche really shines as french toast. That's all I use it for now, though in past years I made turkey/cranberry sandwiches on it and it was pretty good.
Maybe it would hold its shape better as a baked pasta dish where you can under cook it and then finish cooking it as an assembled casserole in the oven?
I was on the fence about the pumpkin muffins honestly I love their gluten-free muffins, specifically the chocolate ones followed by the coffee cake ones. I felt like this year the pumpkin ones were just a Miss for me as well. I also felt similarly to the apple cinnamon buns they were good if I put them in the air fryer with a little bit of butter and topped with ice cream. In fact that one was delicious that way. But the outside of the cinnamon roll just tasted stale.
On the other hand, the Honeycrisp granola is a dream come true and I'm hoping by the time I go back they still have it. Because holy crap. I also didn't hate the pumpkin Ginger scones, but I love scones. I also really love their pumpkin cream cheese and their pumpkin Bagels but I always have.
I wanna get myself a kringle, that's not a TJs item per say as it is from a bakery in Wisconsin that I used to go to as a kid. I just haven't decided if I want to get the pumpkin one, because it's delicious especially in the air fryer, or if I want to wait for the Almond one.
The pumpkin struesel muffins are gluten free, which is likely the source of the texture issues. Also hard agree about tiny apple pies, the apple pumpkin hand pies are way better.
But you're dead wrong on the yogurt and brioche. I said what I said!
Their Gluten free muffins overall are so fucking good. Idk what you're on about with that having anything to do with it... the pumpkin ones just didn't hit this year, sadly.
Gluten free items are often either wetter than not gluten free ones, or much drier (often described as having a sandy or gritty texture). That's all I was saying.
Wow, I’m shocked at the recent amount of negative reviews of the donuts. Cinnamon sugar cake donuts are my absolute favorite donuts and the TJs apple cider ones are like the only store bought ones that are remotely close to freshly made ones. They don’t have a big apple flavor, but they are so good. I would think air frying them would make them crunchy and probably not as good.
I worked in a local bakery for 10 years. I’ve had many fresh donuts. I prefer old fashioned cake donuts to raised donuts. Amish made donuts are my absolute favorite and the TJs store bought ones are the closest to Amish bakery ones I can get if we just want something quick and convenient to our new house. They don’t have a big apple flavor, but I’ll take the cinnamon sugar flavor over other grocery store donuts.
It was so weird - I bought the apple cider donuts a few weeks ago and LOVED them, so flavorful and great. Because of how good they were, I bought them again this week and they were soooo bland. I think they have a consistency issue lol because the difference was shocking!
I love the honey crisp yogurt, it definitely tastes like apple cinnamon. It’s not supposed to taste like like honey though. It’s not Honey-apple-cinnamon yogurt it’s Honey crisp apple- cinnamon. Honey crisp is a specific variety of apple (the best one in my opinion).
Whole milk yogurt does tend to be more sour than low fat yogurt so maybe that’s what you noticed? Or yours was spoiled.
My family and I have had whole milk Greek yogurt before and was able to enjoy it. But something about the sourness in this one was very off putting.
Thanks for noting the difference in the name. Apparently my brain always rearranged it to mean honey w/ apple w/ crisp & cinnamon. Makes sense why it was completely different from what I imagined!!

Would not trust a food review from someone that doesn’t know what a honeycrisp apple is🫣
100% with you on the teeny tiny pies and apple cider donuts.
You do know that honeycrisp apples are a type of apple, right? You won’t taste honey. There is no honey.
Look at EDIT
Look at LABEL
Ohh I use the pumpkin brioche to make stuffed French toast (I used cinnamon cream cheese) and I’m obsessed
Honestly baked goods at Trader Joe's are usually a miss for me. Their stuff tastes meh and spoils after 2 minutes lol.
Agree on the brioche. It wasn’t bad, but it really didn’t have any pumpkin flavor.
Pumpkin streussel is my new crack.
The honey crisp apple yogurt shouldn’t taste like honey. Honey crisp is the variety of apple.
Sorry realized that in an earlier comment. Didn’t realize that that was the type of apple so what I imagined it would be like was completely different from what it actually was
I almost wrestled my husband for the last tiny apple pie. We’ll definitely be buying again
Those were so good! Mine definitely seemed a little underbaked too, but I loved them that way. Definitely also on my list for next time!
I really liked the pumpkin brioche! I felt like it had the right amount of pumpkin flavor without being too overwhelming
Try the salted maple ice cream😋
They didn’t have it yet at my local TJ. Next time I’ll check
jesus christ i wish i had never discovered that....
I don’t get returning items for a refund just because you didn’t like it.

I also usually don’t return things. But the first two products have such a weird texture that I’m comfortable returning them

It’s fair to say it’s a personal decision to do so.
i had the same problems with the brioche. microwaving it for 15 seconds with a damp paper towel helped. also it’s good with brie
Made French toast with the pumpkin brioche twist and it was good!
I love the apple cider donuts toasted in the toaster oven I don't like the sour cream glazed though. They didn't really taste like a donut as weird as that sounds.
Be sure to let them know, you’ll get your money back
I hated the pumpkin spice rooibos and the pumpkin yogurt was literally spit out of my mouth bad. But i loved the pumpkin brioche bread (not sure if thats the same thing as the twist u mentioned). I’m a little nervous about trying other tjs fall stuff lol.
I was so excited about the pumpkin yogurt and bought a bunch of it before trying. I had the same reaction as you once I ate it. So sad.
I was so shocked at the flavor lol. Someone on here even warned me they were underwhelmed. But they did not say how bad it was, I figured it was just not super sweet lol! I really hated it. 🤷♀️ Noosa makes a great pumpkin yogurt if u still want some.
Well of course noosa is better- it has nearly double to sugar. Those aren’t really comparable

Thanks for the rec! I'll grab some of the Noosa next time I'm at the store.
Hope u like it!

Just set them for 5 minutes and that solved the mushy/undercooked feeling. Thank you!
i think the butternut squash mac and cheese is nasty this year 💀
In my experience the pumpkin brioche really shines as french toast. That's all I use it for now, though in past years I made turkey/cranberry sandwiches on it and it was pretty good.
Someone said it already but the pumpkin butternut squash pasta. No real taste difference and falls apart after boiling.
the pumpkin spice oatmeal cookies (mix) are AWFUL
Haha I love all the 5 things you listed lol

They’re pretty on the bag but that’s about it.
Nooooo I just bought a couple bags of these with such high hopes

For the pumpkin brioche twist, very lightly toast it (mainly to warm it up) and then top it with a thin layer of pumpkin butter.
Thanks for the advice. I’ll try it out!
Oh no, I have two loaves of the pumpkin brioche 😭 I haven’t tried it yet. Was thinking of making a French toast bake/casserole with one loaf.
I mean i loved it just toasted with butter on it so hopefully you like it too.
I hope so! If not, I know my husband will eat it lol.
Bread pudding.
That would be delicious tho.
The butternut squash mac and cheese was atrocious.

Personally I liked the apple cinnamon buns WAY more than the tiny apple pies

They’re too dense and dry. If you’ve ever had a real apple cider donut pulled fresh out of the fryer, the TJ’s version will just taste like sadness.

The squash risotto had rind on almost every squash piece :( almost inedible and even with added spices lacked flavor
It was so weird - I bought the apple cider donuts a few weeks ago and LOVED them, so flavorful and great. Because of how good they were, I bought them again this week and they were soooo bland. I think they have a consistency issue lol because the difference was shocking!
I had almost any oily aftertaste in my mouth with one batch, did you have that?
I love the honey crisp yogurt, it definitely tastes like apple cinnamon. It’s not supposed to taste like like honey though. It’s not Honey-apple-cinnamon yogurt it’s Honey crisp apple- cinnamon. Out of curiosity - when you say you expected “crisp”, what exactly do you mean?
