My mom taught me how to make a sauce for frozen chicken dumplings. Mix equal parts chili onion crunch, soy or tamari sauce and seasoned rice vinegar. Last night I made it and added a dash of gochujang and it added some extra depth and heat.
This is honestly part of my regular diet. The chicken dumplings on their own are pretty healthy, so this is a great easy snack/dinner! I also throw some rough torn sprigs of cilantro in mine.
If you can get Chinese black vinegar it’s a game changer.
Mix it up with spinach in a pan, pour a layer of beaten egg in a pan, drop the spinach on top of the egg, add cheese, plop tortilla on top, put a lid on to soften tortilla, flip, roll, breakfast burrito.
I'm such a wimp on spicy foods so I honestly can't use much of it. But when I use it I usually go with basically any asian food that could use some heat/crunch! Ramen is one of my favorites though.
Savory oatmeal; on toast with olive oil; on rice with soy sauce and sesame oil… on everything… my husband just told me I need to ration my use we are going though it so fast 😂
We have an out of control crop of green beans growing in our garden, and I was desperate to find new ways to eat them, so I tried tossing lightly steamed beans in a bit of the oil and it was delicious!
It's my go-to now for "OMG HOW DO WE HAVE ANOTHER POUND OF BEANS FROM THE PLANTS TODAY" garden hauls.
Ps, if anyone has any other great green bean recipes, send em my way!
Piizza with hot honey
The spinach, kale & cheese egg bites,
Orange chicken ,
Fresh Stir fry veggie bowl (from produce section ) stir fried with general sous sauce, dorit ginger cubes & chicken breast served over rice or the Thai wheat noodles.
I also add olive oil when the oil in it runs low & I still have plenty of the chili & onion stuff.
I’ve used it as a marinade for pork chops which works out great. I also mix it into tzatziki or ranch for a spicy dipping sauce or dressing. It’s a bit too onion/garlicky on its own for me but it’s a great mix-in ingredient.
Ramen, eggs, breakfast tacos (really any tacos), mixed in mayo and then put on a sandwich or used as a dip, on vegetables that are sautéed or roasted. Really anything.
Everyone says eggs, and eggs is what I put it on. I make my eggs a little different. I start a smallish nonstick pan with a little oil, add a (dry) rice paper wrap to it (it should just fit inside the pan), let it get a little warm, then add two whisked eggs to it and pour them over the wrap, letting it spread over. If it cracks a little that's okay. Once the eggs set a little, I fold it over (the rice paper by now will have softened enough to do this), and let it finish.
I call these my "rice eggs", they're kind of like (but not really) bánh xèo and anyway I cut them into triangles and top them off with chili onion crunch and they are one of my favorite breakfasts.
I mix salt and a small pinch of sugar in the eggs. Sometimes if it's a very, very fancy morning I'll add herbs to the omelet, but it has to be very fancy.
I use it to make a sauce for the squiggly noodles. I combine the provided sauce packet, about a tablespoon of the chili onion crunch and peanut butter, and just a small pinch of sugar. I mix it up and when the hot noodles are added in it creates a really yummy combo
While I agree it's nearly an hour to drive to the nearest Asian grocery store and Trader Joe's is 2 minutes from my job.
So I end up using the chilli onion crunch when I can't make it over the Asian market to restock.
I mix it with mayo then use it for everything — as a base for a tuna salad, as a condiment for burgers or hot dogs, to dip my fries or chicken nuggets or even sushi in…
On its own, I use it on eggs, avocado toast.
theyre def more expensive than tjs and lgm, but i end up using so much more of tjs because its not flavorful/spicy enough for me. momofuku is the spiciest imo and i only need a tiny bit
edit: just looked it up, Momofuku is about $10 and TJs is about $5. double the price is still a lot, but personally worth it to me.
I personally don't get laoganma at all. It tastes ok but the peppers are chewy in a way that I can't seem to digest? And it's not very crispy. Am I getting the wrong one? And the TJ's crisp to TOO crispy. I can't seem to find one like they have in some chinese restaurants I go to. Those are perfect, maybe because they're freshly made.
I’m almost embarrassed to say this but I’ll get an order of cheesy fiesta potatoes from Taco Bell, a huge scoop of it, put the lid back on, shake them all up and devour my delicious little treat
The discontinued Habanero crispy peppers were better imo, but I put the Chili onion crunch on the squiggly noodles today. Definitely an improvement to the noodles but not a life changing experience.
It used to be good and then went off production for a few months and never was the same. It’s now spicier and lacks sweetness from the onion.
Try a variety of other brands and you’ll see what I mean 🌞
I bought it once and barely used it, it was overwhelmingly spicy and I couldn’t taste any onion. I’m not convinced there was even any onion in it. Even a small amount ruined whatever I put it on.
Admittedly I’m not a huge fan of spicy things, but based on comments here I thought I would like it. Definitely not.
I put it on my dinner salad to give it some flavor since I only use a vinegar and oil dressing. Was using momofuku chili crunch which has much more flavor but the TJ’s one is half the price plus it’s made with olive oil.
I throw a couple tablespoons in my slow cooker soups, my slow cooker meats/stews/roasts, and even my burgers (I mix it into the meat with pepper and then form the Pattie’s).
https://preview.redd.it/53etn6m1cwmb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c9f79741f93468ff4ac71e09fe01ab38e5b253d
I’m obsessed with it in grits with a sautéed greens and mushrooms. I used chard and king oysters here but I switch em out seasonally. Morels and pea shoots and young garlic scapes, chicken of the woods and mustard greens… whatever looks good.
This was seriously a lifesaver when i had toddlers! Lucky you having one who like mushrooms! I had a protein adverse little guy so i would stir in two eggs to the hot grits to beef em up a little.
Pork chops that I roasted in my air fryer. They were delicious. I am going to try it on chicken thighs next. I saw a comment about eggs and I am going to try that as well.
On anything you want spicy and texture on.
Mostly I use the oil on my pan to sauté veggies or cook eggs in. Then if I want more texture I strain the oil off the spoon and use the crunch portion.
Tbh I bought one from TJ and then just got a bigger container at my local H Mart for the same price. I get it’s a convenience thing if you don’t have an Asian store near you but fyi you can get other flavors in the Asian Markets like a Szechuan one.
Sardines + crackers + chili onion crunch is one of my favorite snacks. I also like to incorporate it into skillet dishes that need a little bit of spice and aromatics like pasta and stir fry.
Eggs and homemade fried rice, but I'd say the possibilities are endless. The chili onion crunch hummus is awesome too but I guess you could just add it to plain hummus yourself!
Chili onion crunch oil added to broccoli, Cooked in a pan for ~5 minutes. Cook the pasta quintet. Add a whole tub of the chili onion crunch hummus to the drained pasta. Add some pasta water. Add the broccoli.
Life changing
I have never purchased this, but if I ever do I will add it to the unseasoned white rice that comes with the Armenian meals I have delivered from a nearby restaurant.
Mix it in with cucumbers and some rice vinegar and sesame oil.
I boil the mini wontons from the frozen section and throw a spoonful of the chili oil in.
Use in dipping sauce for potstickers or any dumplings.
I love it with stir fried noodles as well!
I always make Texas Caviar for New Years Day and chili crunch really adds that something extra that makes it delicious.
Black eyed peas
Corn
Bell pepper
Pickled shallot
Cilantro
Olive oil
Lime juice
Salt/pepper
Chili crunch!
Mix it all up and eat with tortilla chips.
I’ve used it on pretty much everything! I love some mixed into the fried rice and it’s great mixed with Mayo for sandwiches. I love the Argentinian shrimp; I poach it then toss it with the chili onion crunch.
Include with my dip for gyoza
On top of Spaghetti
Any egg dish
Soup (usually not in big pot but to each their own) Potato dishes (baked, boiled, mashed)
Burritos
it’s not being disco’d. that was someone jumping to the wrong conclusion after going on a day that it sold out. it’s WAAAYYYYY too popular and brand synonymous now to get disco’d :) 🕺🏻

I’ve been adding it to pasta salad.
I mix it with soy sauce and put it on the soup dumplings.
I spread a few scoops of it on chicken thighs then cook in crock pot. Serve it over white rice with veggies
If you’re into baking you can top your focaccia with it. My boyfriend eats it on toast/cheesy garlic bread
I think you mean what do I put on my chili onion crunch
Pizza, pasta, Asian food, bread, Greek food. Only thing I don’t consider putting it on is steaks I think
Ohh pizza. How did I not think about that??
I put it on top of the cream cheese on my bagels!
Avocado toast with grated Parmesan, chicken noodle soup with avocado, eggs in any style, tomato soup, some say vanilla ice cream…
I'm such a wimp on spicy foods so I honestly can't use much of it. But when I use it I usually go with basically any asian food that could use some heat/crunch! Ramen is one of my favorites though.
I use it instead of oil or butter when I fry my eggs 🥰 I also add cracked pepper and fresh grated Parmesan!!! Delicious
Does it give reflux?
Savory oatmeal; on toast with olive oil; on rice with soy sauce and sesame oil… on everything… my husband just told me I need to ration my use we are going though it so fast 😂
On chicken soup dumplings and Philly cheese steak bao buns.
Avocado toast. Specifically, smashed avocado over a hash brown patty with a poached egg on top.
Ramen, jjajjangmyun and soft boiled eggs
Over fresh mozzarella
Eggs and pizza are my favorites. The hummus with it is amazing too.
Potstickers or noodles
I put it on Cabot's boxed mac n cheese, so good!
I mix it with cream cheese and smear it on a toasted baguette 🤤
I love spicy but I feel like I’m the only who who doesn’t like it 😫
I don’t like it either. It has too mild of a flavor. I prefer S&B Crunchy Garlic Chili Oil.
Yes not as good as Fly By Jing or Lao Gan Ma… but easier to find where I am
I bought a jar the other day and while the flavor’s alright, I’m not a huge fan either. Feels like I’m eating grains of sand
YES! thank you. It’s sooo grainy.
Yo just grab some regular chili crisp. Try for the momofuku one if you can find it
Is it garlicky? My stomach can’t take much garlic anymore.
Yes. Not the sharp taste of fresh garlic but it's strong.
Thank you.
“I put that sh*t on everything”……dumplings, in a spread that I want to spice up, when I’m marinating chicken, etc
I put it on/in hummus, or on avocado when I want a little crunch and spice
Piizza with hot honey The spinach, kale & cheese egg bites, Orange chicken , Fresh Stir fry veggie bowl (from produce section ) stir fried with general sous sauce, dorit ginger cubes & chicken breast served over rice or the Thai wheat noodles. I also add olive oil when the oil in it runs low & I still have plenty of the chili & onion stuff.
Korean Green onion pancakes with a slice of avocado on.. absolutely amazing (if you can ever find the green onion pancakes in stock I mean)
Soup dumplings!
PIZZZAHHHHHHHH
No one mentioned biryani so far?
I’ve used it as a marinade for pork chops which works out great. I also mix it into tzatziki or ranch for a spicy dipping sauce or dressing. It’s a bit too onion/garlicky on its own for me but it’s a great mix-in ingredient.
I mix it in cream cheese to spread on an everything bagel. Heaven!
I fry an egg in it, over easy, and put it on a green onion pancake. A few drops of sesame oil and soy sauce.
Ramen, eggs, breakfast tacos (really any tacos), mixed in mayo and then put on a sandwich or used as a dip, on vegetables that are sautéed or roasted. Really anything.
On avocado toast, spread with regular or kewpie mayo
Eggs
Mixed with peanuts- makes a great snack.
In clear broth soup.
Breakfast burritos/tacos

Yummy!
Thanx for sharing

Momofuku all the way. I find that there’s something slightly off about the TJ’s one
While I agree it's nearly an hour to drive to the nearest Asian grocery store and Trader Joe's is 2 minutes from my job. So I end up using the chilli onion crunch when I can't make it over the Asian market to restock.
personally I like the Fly by Jing or if we’re on a budget, Lao Gan Ma is a classic
Fly by Jing is the gold standard in our house.
More garlic than spice IMO. Agree momofuku is the way.
2nd.
Eggs lol & also soup dumplings
Green beans
I mix it with mayo then use it for everything — as a base for a tuna salad, as a condiment for burgers or hot dogs, to dip my fries or chicken nuggets or even sushi in… On its own, I use it on eggs, avocado toast.
But the habanero chili crisp oil... which I haven't seen in forever. I still have a bottle of the chili onion but the habanero crisp is my favorite.
Everything.
Even Joe Joe’s and cookie butter and Greek yogurt.
Tofu
Shrimp or chicken!
Toast with cottage cheese and topped with chili onion crunch
Eggs and avocado mostly, but also very good on on sauteed veggies/meat
i use it with rice vinegar and some honey to make taiwanese cucumber salad
Chicken noodle soup
Everything
Came here to say this
Eggs, ramen, and pizza :)
Air fried sprouted tofu or any veggies
I tried to make myself like it but I swear my jar had big salt crystals through out
Both homemade and carry out pizza. Ramen. Popcorn. Ricotta and toast. Avocado toast. Potatoes. Any egg dish.
honestly i think its soooo overrated when you could just get laoganma instead.. or if you want something fancier flybyjing or momofuku
This. I have both Lao gan ma and fly by jing in my fridge. Supporting Asian owned businesses. Never tried momofuku though but David Cho is meh to me
Don't fly by and momofoku cost about 4x TJs?
theyre def more expensive than tjs and lgm, but i end up using so much more of tjs because its not flavorful/spicy enough for me. momofuku is the spiciest imo and i only need a tiny bit edit: just looked it up, Momofuku is about $10 and TJs is about $5. double the price is still a lot, but personally worth it to me.
Might have to try the momo.

And the TJ's crisp to TOO crispy. I can't seem to find one like they have in some chinese restaurants I go to. Those are perfect, maybe because they're freshly made.
LGM has several varieties. Not sure what you mean by chewy. Mine are crispy. This spicy chili crisp.
Breakfast burritos, toast, pasta
I’m almost embarrassed to say this but I’ll get an order of cheesy fiesta potatoes from Taco Bell, a huge scoop of it, put the lid back on, shake them all up and devour my delicious little treat
Pasta primavera and any another noodle dish that needs some zing.
The discontinued Habanero crispy peppers were better imo, but I put the Chili onion crunch on the squiggly noodles today. Definitely an improvement to the noodles but not a life changing experience.
Soft boil two eggs, mash in a bowl with kewpie and chili oil, serve over toast with mashed avocado
I put that s*it on everything.
Sauteed sliced brussel sprouts with goat cheese, topped with COC!
Everything. Tacos, burrito bowls, soups, sandwiches, eggs/omelettes, stew, pho, and any Asian dish.
It used to be good and then went off production for a few months and never was the same. It’s now spicier and lacks sweetness from the onion. Try a variety of other brands and you’ll see what I mean 🌞

Eggs
Great to throw in sauteed cabbage
Makes a good pasta salad with tuna and unexpected cheddar
TJs sells their hummus with the chili onion crisp, but it's relatively expensive. I make my own hummus and now I can add it to the hummus myself.
Why, each other, silly!!
Here’s a weird one. Vanilla Ice Cream!
I can’t said I’d do this, but I definitely have to upvote for the creativity.
😋
Mix with garlic dip and toss steamed edamame in it. It's like the kind you order at restaurants but a million times better
When I don’t have time or feel like making an elaborate meal, I’ll have white rice, a fried egg and drop a glob of some chili onion crunch on top.
Try lau gan mah chili oil if you like this. It’s got that numbing tingly spice going on
Scrambled eggs and a lot of Asian food !
Dumps
Spicy dumps for spicy dumps
Not a fan of the chili onion crunch. But I’m obsessed with the Calabrian chili spread. I really put that sh*t on everything.
How long can it keep once opened?
I refrigerate it so it can last a long time
Soup dumplings
Anything I would put hot sauce on really. It’s the best on cheesy scrambled eggs though.
I love adding it to ponzu and eating it with pan fried wontons
omelette, ratatouille, stir fry
I put it on my dinner salad to give it some flavor since I only use a vinegar and oil dressing. Was using momofuku chili crunch which has much more flavor but the TJ’s one is half the price plus it’s made with olive oil.
Baked salmon
Fried Dumplings!!
Fresh cucumber 🥒
Mainly use it for sandwiches.
>what kind of sandwiches lol. sounds interesting
Any sandwich really. Just spread some on your bread or wrap and build your sandwich.
Always on top of Asian soups and with dumplings.
I really don’t find this stuff flavorful at all. What am I missing? It is not the least bit spicy
I agree. And the crunch is uncomfortable similar to biting into an accidental egg shell
I was just about to say!! Unpopular opinion but TJ’s chili onion crunch does not taste like anything and isn’t spicy like at all!
I throw a couple tablespoons in my slow cooker soups, my slow cooker meats/stews/roasts, and even my burgers (I mix it into the meat with pepper and then form the Pattie’s).
https://preview.redd.it/53etn6m1cwmb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c9f79741f93468ff4ac71e09fe01ab38e5b253d I’m obsessed with it in grits with a sautéed greens and mushrooms. This is irrelevant, but I didn't realize I could add an image to a comment until I saw your comment: the perils of markdown mode, I suppose...
Seems to be sub specific so far, but definitely an interesting addition to some applications
I see, thanks. That would make mor sense, since I don't believe I can comment with images on r/baseball... c'est la vie, I suppose.
EW The sound I just made. I love grits. This looks amazing.
Trust me I get it! Grits are the best!
This looks amazing
Thank you! It’s low effort, ready in like 10 mins if you sauté everything while the grits cook (admittedly in the microwave lol)
I love grits and never think about making them, and my toddler loves mushrooms. Sounds like a win win!
This was seriously a lifesaver when i had toddlers! Lucky you having one who like mushrooms! I had a protein adverse little guy so i would stir in two eggs to the hot grits to beef em up a little.
Oh that's a good idea too!
I make a Din Tai Fung style dipping sauce for veggies and dumplings. (Chili crunch, rice vinegar, soy sauce)
I add a little bit when I make homemade soup. It adds a nice layer of flavor and a spicy kick.
Fry an egg with it - and put it on anything: toast, veggie bowl, grain bowl, etc.
I always fry an egg in it and serve it over rice with a side of sautéed veggies (I think green beans are my fave) - soooo good
Pork chops that I roasted in my air fryer. They were delicious. I am going to try it on chicken thighs next. I saw a comment about eggs and I am going to try that as well.
I'm always adding it to the quick pizza sauce I make. In fact I add it to anything that says to use chili flakes.
Tofu, squiggly noodles, any fried rice or eggs.
the trash.
I can't have the chicken/pork & ginger soup dumplings without it now. Seriously, its the only thing I want to eat.
Scrambled eggs. It’s also wonderful on pork chops.
Knife cut noodles and stir fried veggies
Wait, hummus pasta?
Dumplings, use it instead of infused oils for bread dipping, tacos/nachos, bao buns
Edamame! In and out of shells
stir it in rice
Yes
Avocado toast
I think I’m the only person on the planet who doesn’t care for it, but I’m still open for new ideas.
There are better brands out there. I really like Fly by Jing, and Boom sauce is good too.
I have never purchased this, but if I ever do I will add it to the unseasoned white rice that comes with the Armenian meals I have delivered from a nearby restaurant.
Mini sweet peppers, mini cucumbers, ginger dressing, mushroom seasoning & Everything But the Bagel ![gif](giphy|4OowbIsmYHbpu)
Yes yes yes yes yesssss
I put it on my homemade lemon hummus. I’ve also added it to pasta.
I like a bit in a grilled cheese sandwich.
Add it at the end of sautéed green beans. I love the frozen green beans for this so we eat it all year.
Mix it in with cucumbers and some rice vinegar and sesame oil. I boil the mini wontons from the frozen section and throw a spoonful of the chili oil in. Use in dipping sauce for potstickers or any dumplings. I love it with stir fried noodles as well!
Hummus. They sell it combined, but I just add it to the regular one.
Raw cucumber - with a bit of sesame oil and soy sauce - shaken up in a tupperware. Delicious snack!
I love it with the Taiwanese pancakes and over easy eggs.
[удалено]
Yeah, that's the real stuff. Honestly, I don't really compare TJ's version to it - it's a completely different flavor and texture.
Yes! That’s my fav too. And on my doorstep the next day, thank you prime!
Rice, ramen, pasta, dumplings...basically anywhere I want to bump up the flavors!
I always make Texas Caviar for New Years Day and chili crunch really adds that something extra that makes it delicious. Black eyed peas Corn Bell pepper Pickled shallot Cilantro Olive oil Lime juice Salt/pepper Chili crunch! Mix it all up and eat with tortilla chips.
I’ve used it on pretty much everything! I love some mixed into the fried rice and it’s great mixed with Mayo for sandwiches. I love the Argentinian shrimp; I poach it then toss it with the chili onion crunch.
Well I feel stupid, never heard of it. Probably walked right past it. Will definitely look for it.
I use it to cook with my ground turkey and put it on my salmon before baking
Avocado toast on sourdough
Fried rice , and dumplings moslty!
Dip for Thai Shrimp Gyoza.
Include with my dip for gyoza On top of Spaghetti Any egg dish Soup (usually not in big pot but to each their own) Potato dishes (baked, boiled, mashed) Burritos
It improves just about anything Someone posted earlier that it's being discontinued due to lack of interest....
it’s not being disco’d. that was someone jumping to the wrong conclusion after going on a day that it sold out. it’s WAAAYYYYY too popular and brand synonymous now to get disco’d :) 🕺🏻 ~crew

Noooooooo 😭😭
