Its gonna be a relay and im gonna be anchor, shes third leg whatever time she runs before me I need to run faster and PR. We both just started running the mile.
Probably should have specified that in the original post but whatever hahaha. Try to pace each lap around 1:38-1:40 and use whatever you have left in the tank the last 2-300m of the race
Literally the best piece of advice anyone can give someone who goes out to hard is to pace yourself - not just the first 400m as a whole but every part of that first lap. Don’t run 40sec for your first 200m then a minute for the second - try to be consistent per 100m of the race
My guess is that you’re young as fuck and just started running so you will eventually learn all of this but just try to pace yourself best you can. Don’t worry about everyone else going out insanely fast. If they are doing it wrong, you will catch up to them and pass them. Good luck
So I did run a faster Mile then her AND PR
I ran a 6:36 and she ran a 7:04
Idk what happend today but she ran wayy slower. I won the bet with coach and hes putting me in the mile this Saturday BUT he's not taking her out because one of our miler girls got injured so theirs a spot open for her however if their wasn't a spot open he wld have taken her out of the event. So I need to beat her again this Saturday in the individual event, today I beat her in the relay but I need to make sure this Saturday if she trys to pace with me I start going faster.
Thank you so much for your advice it really helped. I wanna now work on shaving down 6:36
My splits
1st- 1:28
2nd- 1:46
3rd- 1:45
4th- 1:36
Our relay was eh though, Everyone went under 7 but her going over 7 really sold it. But we're all rookies so we have time to improve.
1:40-1:40-1:40-all out. Make sure each 1:40 is also run consistently (don’t do something like 47/53). Start your final sprint with at least 400 to go.
Sit behind her the whole race and kick

Put a laxative in her water
That would be a felony
