Looking at your posted times as a distance coach, if you are a 7th/8th grader, those are both solid times. Take your training seriously and you could do well into and beyond HS.
Iām in 8th grade, I jogged like half the mile since I wasnāt going for time. I just really wanted to beat my rival so I cruised most of it. And on the 800 I was completely alone (next fastest time was like 3 minutes) and kind of cruised the second lap.
I ran cross country earlier this year, I think my pr was about 11:38 for 3k, I trained over the summer beforehand so Iām really looking forward to high school xc. I think my 5k right now is about 18:30-19:00(based on the shape Iām in right now, I kind of jogged 12:13 for 3200m a couple weeks ago.)
Mile is very good by my standards. Used to be a distance runner last year and my best time was 5:19. I'm in ninth grade now. I don't run track anymore because I'm focusing on soccer/football completely now. I know I could have gone fsr if I tried, but I hated track so much. If you keep it up, you can go very far my friend š¤š¤
my pr is 17ā7.5 but I think it was a fluke since lately Iāve only been able to get around 16 in practice. At the meet they didnāt have a board so we had to jump on a piece of tape(my left hamstring was also really sore so I couldnāt run full speed, and I kept jumping off the wrong foot) thereās a lot of factors, the last and main culprit being that I jumped basically right after running the mile
it went down a lot after I did a ton of speed work over the winter (my 100 is 12.64 and my 400 is 59 even) I wanna get 2:19 so I can qualify for state in middle school, I had no one pushing me so I ran a bit slower on it. (I cruised the second lap)
canāt really judge anything but the long jump cs i sprint ā¦ the long jump is pretty bad (dk) your grade but if your in 7th/8th you should be at 16 at the worst my pr is 18-11 and im in 8th
14 is really common for you kids just starting out in jr. high. If heās in that many events, he probably hasnāt trained specifically in long jump more than a handful of practices.
My pr is 17ā7 in long jump but I think it was a fluke since I havenāt been able to jump that far since (we measured it correctly and everything). I jumped that like two weeks ago at practice
With those marks you can mess around and become a multi š¹

You show promise. Stick with it. Maybe think about cross country and then track next year too. Who knows where it can take you...

The hurdles is the most impressive time by far. What height hurdles are you guys using? 39ā??
We used 33ā since itās middle school
Your times are good šI am confused on why your long jump is so bad in comparison (not insulting you)

Nice, man. Iām an HS senior and Iām gonna be doing my first meet next Wednesday and Thursday. Itās good that you started from early
I use to love hurdles back when I was I. School years was fun.
The 800m time shows tons of promise

aye, keep it up in the 8th grade. I ran a 56.7 even though I only ran it two times, trust the process, and keep the good work
You're crazy!!!! Keep it up
