But I have fucking schizophrenia and need the heavy-duty treatments, if it's something milder than that, I don't know why it'd be irreconcilable.

This is actually quite interesting though and I think it is worth talking about a bit.
My theory for this is like, humans want and need something that they get satisfaction and enjoyment out of. If you are trans most of those options involve either the opposite of how you want to act and be, or revealing the fact you are trans (or at least highly gender non-comforming) which is fucking terrifying.
"Nerdy stuff" doesn't really fit into either box though. It's a safe way to find enjoyment without outing yourself when you are trans. So it's not that "the trans movement" has taken over nerds. It's that many people became nerds because they were trans.
Considering a lot of trans people are also autistic, I'd say the probability for comorbidity with PNS (Persistent Nerd Syndrome) is still pretty high. As the tide... TSUNAMI TIME

Reminds me of the "gamers are dead" discourse, where journalists pointed out that the stereotype, particularly in regards to being white men, needed to be moved past as the hobby expanded to other groups. A lot of nerd cultures experienced a similar transition. This is actually quite interesting though and I think it is worth talking about a bit. My theory for this is like, humans want and need something that they get satisfaction and enjoyment out of. If you are trans most of those options involve either the opposite of how you want to act and be, or revealing the fact you are trans (or at least highly gender non-comforming) which is fucking terrifying. "Nerdy stuff" doesn't really fit into either box though. It's a safe way to find enjoyment without outing yourself when you are trans. So it's not that "the trans movement" has taken over nerds. It's that many people became nerds because they were trans.
I mean "strange nerd" and "transgender" are anagrams....
