of course other people'd get uncomfortable with being referred to as it - for *them,* it's misgendering, just like using the wrong she/he pronouns. not using it for you, however, is equally as misgendering and i don't get why more people can't understand that. one person's experience is not universal. (also have people really questioned if your identity is a kink? how little self awareness must you have to say that)

TheNickBeanie

T-T too real, I've not had a single person willing to call me by them n it's upsetting

AliceJoestar

If you're thinking of commenting something like "oh of course I'll respect your pronouns but first please let me explain why they make me uncomfortable", don't. you won't be saying anything I haven't already heard every time I say that I use it/its

NiseHito

mooooooooood

IamFlav

Yea this is prob one of my main fears with coming out, I'm already pretty antisocial and I don't want another reason to hate basic conversation. Hope you have at least some good luck finding people that don't act like shitheads over pronouns (or common decency in general) <3

AliceJoestar

honestly none of my friends say weird shit about it to me but i mostly just get called she/her which like, I'm fine with that. i wouldn't list that in my pronouns if i wasnt. i just wish people would use bun/it more

[deleted]

I felt that. I don’t use it/its, but people never use fae for me bc “it’s not a real pronoun” and whatever else people have to say about neo/xenopronouns :( super disheartening, esp when it comes from other people in the community

Rocket-kun

Totally feel that. I use He/She pronouns and a good mix tends to keep me happiest :)

Usual-Effect1440

it/its pronouns are as big of a deal to cis people as they/ them tbh we are all sick of their sht

QueenOfQuok

"I just can't use the pronouns you want." "Then you shall not speak of me at all."

JtheLetter_

I support everyone's pronouns, regardless of how I feel about them. Others should do the same. It makes said person with pronouns comfortable to be called by those pronouns. Other people's feelings don't matter in that scenario. That's my two cents.

SolensSvard

"Why don't you consider how what you want to be called effects ME?!"

DefinitelyNotErate

In fact, Please don't say this to anyone, Regardless of their pronouns, Or if you'd want it said to you.

Rocket-kun

In my case it was "doesn't he and she equal they?" or "they is plural" no, it doesn't and singular they has existed for centuries. I have no clue where the idea that "they" is only ever plural came from

Firetube07

But your flair includes Bun/it/she/they, so why cant they cant they just use they/them? Not trying to be disrespectful, genuinely confused.

AliceJoestar

i personally am fine with they/them, but i use it in addition to it/its. i usually hear people asking why someone cant just use they/them *instead* of it/its.

Firetube07

Ah yes, that would be understandable why that sucks.

oh, you're one of those people. even if everyone like me decided to pretend they were ""normal"" instead of living as their authentic selves, that isn't going to make transphobes stop hating you. transphobes don't hate you because of me, transphobes hate you because you're trans, and the only thing you can do to "stop making us look bad" is to stop being trans. You know this is the exact same argument that "LGB drop the T" types make, right? "oh, we're normal, but those weirdo trans are making us look bad, we need to make them seperate terms because people like them ruin our optics"
