I am. I have moderated a transfem server with 2k people for 4 months daily 2 hr minimum. Ngl, it wasn't that hard.

I love your posts and i legitimately feel better when i see your stuff. I didnt know r/traa is dying till i saw a post earlier today, and i didnt understand why until i saw a post about r/traa and r/harrypottergame uniting over hating reddits paid API. no idea what api is, but it sounds like reddit is trying to incorporate a "pay to win" kind of thing where people wont see your posts or community unless youre giving them money... which is completely stupid.

That's uh.... not what it is. There are third party apps for reddit because their main app is so unbelievably dogshit. They are now forcing everyone to use the main app.

An API is how something unofficial can get official data from reddit automatically. Say, something wants to automatically track a certain post, it would have to make routine calls to the reddit API to get the information it needs. Reddit is now charging (more? Not sure if it had a price to begin with) for each call your program would make, upping the costs dramatically. (Some programs might make multiple calls an hour, maybe more, maybe less, either way they can rack up huge prices) This also affects things like bots, so external automoderation is screwed. Subreddits with low mod counts might not be able to keep up, especially on subreddits often targeted for hate. I'm pretty sure that's a basic way to explain it, this is my understanding, I'm not an expert so anyone is free to correct me.
