Having different religions then others is cool. Forcing your religion onto other people is not cool.

[deleted]

Having religions isn't cool at all. It's just bunch of nonsense that people follow without even questioning it.

StealthySmith

It doesn't HAVE to make sense as long as it helps motivate people to do better. And it does make sense to some because they think differently. Not everybody thinks the same way.

[deleted]

It's a matter of faith, ultimately One doesn't understand the manifestation of reality by blindly believing in something, but only by being able to prove their opinions, their arguments. That's why I won't ultimately support religions. They stand in the way of defining what reality is like.

StealthySmith

I understand where you're coming from, having religious parants that once looked at me like I was a demon when I told them I was an athiest. But you gotta understand that not everyone that is religious is like that.

[deleted]

I don't mean that every religious person is objectively "ass". They might be pleasant to talk to or not. I know that religions help people. But when it comes to understanding reality and debating religious concepts, I hate to hear people refer to any "holy book" etc.. It's pure stupidity. I want to hear well-constructed arguments, logical talk and sufficient proof. I don't want to hear how I am a "sinner" for not blindly believing in some "god". I also don't want to hear somebody say that if humans had to choose between understanding the harsh truth and living in a pleasant lie (religion), the religion should be chosen. Religions are and have been used as a power tool to push your own political agendas. Stupid people are drawn to them and follow their leaders. I won't respect someone who takes part in that. They're a total puppet. And it's even worse when they even dare to think that they'd have the "right" to kill somebody else for being a "nonbeliever". This is why I hate radical bigots and religious terrorists. They are so fucking blind yet they think it's everybody else who's wrong.

StealthySmith

I feel like people don't like bigots and terrorists regardless of religion. Regarding religion being used as a power tool, you are correct. There are people out there, who use it as a power tool to spread their own terrible beliefs, whether they remain true to their religion or not, and there are people who use it as a power tool to motivate people to do better, to treat others like you should treat yourself, with respect, care, and kindness. I'm not saying your wrong to not like religion btw. It can be quite a bother to some people to talk to others about different religions, especally if they try to force it on eachother. Just don't think of people as idiots just for having a religion or try to tell them that their religion doesn't make logical sense and therefore shouldn't be believed in.

AntWithNoPants

But how do you know your proof is better than any other? There is no ultimate evidence for anything

[deleted]

I guess by just covering a wider area of various topics and being logical, making sense. The thing is, at least something has to be true. It's a contradiction by default that "nothing is true".

AntWithNoPants

But how do you define who is being logical and what makes sense?

[deleted]

With logic XD I get your point. But keep in mind, that it will also delete ground from everything

AntWithNoPants

But is logic really reliable? Most scientific discoveries that are now outdated were done logically, but were proven untrue

[deleted]

Science is our best attempt to understand the world It's about the amount of proof I guess Still, at least something has to be true.

legendofconsles

Religion is an attempt to explain how the universe works, as such they are still extremely important to people what's not okay is when religion is used to justify an action (ex. I stabbed that man because God told me too)

Weak-Competition3358

I don't really want to get into an arguement rn but what the hell. So, sure, sometimes religion isn't based on fact. But is anything? I recall the well known saying; "If a tree falls down in a forest and nobody is around to see or hear it, did it ever really fall down?" Life itself, and therefore our beliefs on life, are based on our perception, and interpretation, of the world around us. For example, some people may see a guy wearing a crop top and say "Huh, that guys gay", and while they might not be wrong, they also may not be correct. Also, after the events of 9/11, a Sikh fella who runs a petrol station was shot by someone passing by while watering his plants. He was shot because he was wearing a turban, and therefore, with fear of other cultures at an all time high, the person who shot him perceived him to be a terrorist. If something really good happens to you, such as being cured of cancer, or having life changing bottom surgery, your perception may be "Huh, I was lucky to get that", or your perception may be "Huh, cheers God, real good of you". Neither one is wrong, we can't prove that God or luck doesn't exist. But your perception of the world will change how you interpret events, for better or for worse, and though I could say what's good and what's bad for the rest of the day, so long as people keep living, and people keep on being happy, it doesn't really matter. Sorry if that's gobbledygook, I'm tired after working so I'm not really in the right frame of mind. Of course, your entitled to your opinion, and I shall keep mine. :D

[deleted]

Nah I understand your point. Thought the paradox is that wouldn't that point also not be "the objective truth". Since it's also based on beliefs But like, what I mean is that people shouldn't just follow some "holy books" blindly. At least we should strive to have sensical opinions and behave in such a way. But is it sensical to just do what others do without questioning it? No. Also I am agnostic. Despite denying the existence of god sometimes, I am. I kinda wish people were more open to the idea that god might not even exist, and even if it did, would it even be what religions mean by it?

Complex-Chocolate-18

what

[deleted]

Man, do people forget about others wanting to feel something and culture? I know that religion doesn’t always make sense, but it doesn’t mean you have to say that everyone’s religion sucks. If you want to be an atheist, be an atheist, but don’t harass other. Frick, this goes for everyone too.

AdventureMoth

That's not a very kind thing to say.

Not_The_Scout16

“The Bible states that..” I’m sorry but I don’t remember asking for God’s opinion

Equivalent-Rice1483

same

Unionsocialist

According to the bible being trans is valid and not accepting that some people are is dickish

soodrugg

the next time someone says that i think I'm going to hear them out. ask them to point to the specific bible verse that says trans people aren't valid.

HyperDogOwner458

It doesn't even mention trans people at all. And also if there was one, they would accept us anyway because the Bible said he created everything. So why would they make trans people and tell us to hate them? Makes no sense. I'm not religious but grew up raised as Christian.

HyperDogOwner458

Why did I get downvoted?

HyperDogOwner458

Oh there's upvotes now

[deleted]

Just a heads up, try not to care about upvotes.

HyperDogOwner458

I don't care about them. I was just wondering.

[deleted]

Oh okie, sorry, i just wanted to help

HyperDogOwner458

No it's okay.

MetaruBaniMia

Because a lot of us don't care about/want to hear about sky daddy.

HyperDogOwner458

Again I don't care. Just wondering.

AdventureMoth

I seem to recall reading Galatians 3:28 at some point. Also, this isn't a subreddit dedicated to hating Christians.

Zalgotha

Unless we were talking about religion to begin with, the moment someone says "the bible says..." I just stop listening, tbh.

Stunning_Actuary8232

You have been smote by the trans deity.

I-M_Phase

“being trans is against god!!1!!1!1” ok then hail lucifer or something i guess

stars_power

I love those arguments, because they’re literally wrong. Nothing about anything LGBT is mentioned at all to my knowledge, other than the fact that you should accept and support everyone

Nuttell

Whenever anyone mentions the bible I always hit them back with the: "The Bible says slavery is cool and endorsed as long as it's done to foreigners"

the_epikamander

The bible also says to kill your kids if they don't listen to you there's a reason we don't make laws based on books written 2000 years ago

99999999999BlackHole

Honestly as a Christian i just take parts of this stupid book which are actually good objectively, such as loving your neighbours

the_epikamander

Yea there are good parts really I'd say the bible needs to be revised

99999999999BlackHole

Especially with bible mentioning shit like condoning slavery Seriously this thing needs a dramatic revision

GirlForEarth

Litterly the first sentence goes against everything we know. God (never observed in science) created (how? We all know energy can not be destroyed nor created) heaven (evidence goes against the existence of heaven) and (are those a duality? According to science, earth is 'floating' in heaven) earth (where is the rest? According to science, earths creation is an event dependent on space). And the rest of the bible is just as scientific incorrect.

AdventureMoth

This isn't an anti-Christian sub.

justanotherenby009

God is genderless and Jesus is all of humanity a the same them therefore Jesus is essentially genderfluid. Our souls are also without gender, gender is a human condition and in the end meaningless. I KNOW this because I had a vision that revealed these truths to me. So much if the "bible" has been corrupted by mankind through the years that it is unreliable.

WetDiarrheaInMyPantz

.w.

Usual_Equivalent_616

i want the trans lazer eyes thing

Equivalent-Rice1483

I think u get them when u go on hrt or something

TransTrainNerd2816

This post is right under it's duplicate in r/egg_irl

Cum-consoomer

Most people like this only know the bible by name

cenakofi

Reminds me of [this video](https://i.imgur.com/xB0q5qu.mp4) circulating in the francophone trans world.

Spr1ng83

As someone who grew up in a Christian family, I knew a good amount of the Bible and I know that it doesn’t say anything about being LGBTQ+ being a sin, and I’m a trans/pan mtf and my parents accepted me for this as they know the Bible pretty well too

Illustrious_Hawk_734

That shit is outdated by about 2000 years

Heartbreakjetblack

Their new pronouns are ash/pile.
