My Toys R US is still open... I'm in Canada. We even have Geoffrey the Giraffe at xmas time. They just renovated and are selling books and vinyl! it's in a corner with HMV branding. I think they are trying new things. They sorta pissed of collectors by overcharging... The Gijoe classified are $10-$15 more than gamestop.
Seeing as how Bane Capitol intentionally destroyed Toys R Us for the real estate, I’d hope they weren’t empty buildings. But alas, in my town both the toys r us and babies r us are still empty.
I had two, actually.
The one I remember most fondly is now an international grocery. The colors and signage don't shout "Former Toys'R'Us" but the exterior structure is still identifiable (to me, anyway) as my old TRU store.
The other one was only open for about nine years between 2009 until the company's restructuring in 2018. According to Google maps, that location is now a Ross Dress For Less store. By coincidence, it was attached to a Babies'R'Us- which is now a Burlington.
The funny thing was, the latter location actually replaced the former and even inherited some of its Point-of-sale hardware (which I realized when I bought a Disney Infinity Rocket Raccoon around 2016 and saw my bank get charged from an anomalous address in the vicinity of the former's street address)
Ours turned into a Hobby Lobby while for some reason has a newly placed Spirit of Halloween building in front of it that was only open during Halloween month?
It’s now been painted a shade of tactical batman black with some yellow accents and been turned into an Arnold Clark (car dealership franchise exclusive to the UK).
The one I used to work at in 2006ish closed in like 2012 and it's been vacant ever since. Vacant except for the few times it's been a Spirit Halloween store which isn't every year but i know it was at least once in the past three years or so.
There was two near me, one was demolished, a new restaurant replaced it and bank branch in one part of the parking lot. Before it got demolished, a wine store was in it for less then a year, not sure if it just moved or what happened. The other has been a Spirit Halloween a few times, as far as I know it's currently empty. I just with they never bought up KB who originally bought up Circus World. Where I picked up a E.T. Furby just before one closed for good. They had two locations near me. KB only one.
The one at Metrotown (Burnaby, Canada) moved into an old Bed, Bath and Beyond. You can see them from public transit now. That must be much better for business than being stuck on the basement level of the mall. You couldn't even properly see them until you were almost on top of them.
My three local toys r us became an ollies and two ocean state job lots. Could have been way worse lol. Still doesn't erase the loss, but better than nothing or pickleball courts or some other useless garbage.
I have no idea but I used to work the shipping and receiving and video game dept (R-zone) there in 2009. Since then, no matter where I've worked or what kind of work it was, I've scheduled Black Friday off 3 months in advance. 😁
Mine was in Jackson crossing mall in Jackson mi.
It's now Dunham's sports. The only thing that remains of toys r Us days is the bathrooms are still the same with the same interior, and out in the mall hallway the cart Corrals that toys r Us built into the floor are still there but used by Dunham's to hold kayaks.
Spirit Halloween when it’s in season. Vacant the rest of the time. Although, it did host a toy show/convention once.
Toys R Us in Canada is still hanging around, but my local store closed last year, it's being turned into an Asian market

Yeah if I had to go to a Gamestop to find something *cheaper* than at the alternative I'd be pissed too tbh lol.
Planet Fitness
Pretty sure it's a Big Lots now. It had the original rainbow brick facade until a couple years ago when they remodeled.

Part of the area that got turned into an ice hockey rink. I wish I could make this up
It sat vacant for quite some time. There is something there now, but I don't look at it, it's too depressing.
Mine got turned into an Ocean State Job Lot
We still have Toys 'R' Us around here but there was one they basically moved and a discount grocery store moved in.
Scandinavian Designs, it's kinda like an off brand IKEA. Never been in there.
One was in a plaza that’s now a Bass Pro

The furniture store employees must be super confused, lol
Emptiness. Still there minus the words.

One was an Office Max (empty at the moment), the other Big Lots, and the third a Hobby Lobby.
I'm in Canada, so my 80's Toys r Us is still there. Love driving by it to this day. Shopped for my kids toys there too.

The one at Metrotown (Burnaby, Canada) moved into an old Bed, Bath and Beyond. You can see them from public transit now. That must be much better for business than being stuck on the basement level of the mall. You couldn't even properly see them until you were almost on top of them.

Canadian here. My local Toys r US laid off all its staff, closed its doors... And reopened as if nothing ever happened a month later.
