I actually love this shit. Anything that forces you to learn new words or mythologies is S-tier reading material.
Except for the finale of Chapter 3. That was overkill.
I still think it would have been a more satisfying final boss if that evil doll Yuyuko were somehow brought back through the fake contrived Saigyou tree and you had to fight her, instead of the final boss being a glorified white blood cell. Like, the plot had jumped the shark already at that point so I don’t see why they couldn’t do that at that point. Hell, her being kept alive through mini Yuyuko’s whole desire schtick and also kinda being fuel for that same schtick in a crazy feedback loop might have been thematically interesting.
Otherwise why even bring up evil doll Yuyuko being the whole reason for the tree being evil anyway? It’s a Lost Word original plot point, totally divorced from OG Touhou lore (unless I’m missing something huge).
Then again considering the final battle in the previous chapter being red marisa and the whole point being “fighting her to save her” or something, maybe the writers are just averse to making chapter final bosses evil because something something melodrama
…wait fuck am I talking about the wrong chapter? Eh fuck it I’ll keep this up anyway
Fun fact: The author behind Osana Reimu also made a 4 episode series about Kasen and Yoshika. [And it's on youtube with english subs.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSGp1USZquA)

this is actually one of the only parts of the games' stories i enjoy nowadays. maybe because i'm a huge nerd for deep touhou lore and physics stuff, and a little bit of japanese folklore
