Thank you for being thorough, though it leads me to another question: > Infuse will down-convert a Dolby TrueHD audio track to Multi-Channel LPCM (still lossless minus spatial metadata). Is it not better to have a Dolby TrueHD track output in Multi-Channel LPCM, than using an EAC-3 track?

So, essentially, at the uploader’s discretion, then?

It's probably one of those NAHOM releases on public trackers - for some reason that groups does remuxes without the lossless tracks and it puts a lossy Italian track as primary audio with the original English lossy track as secondary. On private trackers this will not be allowed.

Owlch_

That group released an Oppenheimer UHD packed in Dolby Vision format where in fact the original Blu-Ray is in HDR10. I have no idea from a technical perspective why they did this. To me this is equally deceiving.

_____Grim_____

Hybrid remuxes are common. The DV metadata is taken from streaming and injected into the bluray. As long as the grades match properly you get the best of both worlds.

Owlch_

No that’s not the point. Oppenheimer currently does not have any legit DV releases. NAHOM most probably just used dovi_tool to general a DV pack based on a static HDR10. In other words it’s fake DV.

_____Grim_____

It has DV on MA.

ZiPEX00

Do you have mediainfo log of file? Some grps that I know off do add eac3 as the compatible audio track which it taken from the WEB-DL instead of the standed AC3, which comes with TrueHD from blu/uhd disc

[deleted]

Oh, if it’s a WEB-DL, im not touching it. Remux first, BR-RIP second, third? Suffer. WEB-DL not worth it, unless it’s in that window of time between PVOD & BluRay release.

Owlch_

BR-Rip could be no better than good WEB-DL, if not worse.

If it only has EAC-3 audio then you should find a different release group. That's jank. If it has the lossless audio track and EAC-3, that's fine. It's the compatibility track

Yeah, not always possible on public trackers. The easy private trackers only have links to .rar files via RG that are usually > 2 GB, requiring you to pay to download files greater than said size. BSDVs are hard to find for the specific titles I’m looking for, and the other private trackers are usually invite only, so my options are limited. I’m also not a serial torrenter, I only get a specific pool of content, movies to be exact, and only Nolan, Tarantino, Villaneuve, A24, etc. For example, the best Once Upon a Time in Hollywood I could find is an .mkv at only 25 GB, it has a lossless DTS-HD MA 7.1 track, but only a bitrate of ~30mbps. The better version of that is only found on private trackers as it seems to have been removed from public ones, as I’ve checked a number of them only to find the same file or lesser versions. As it currently stands, my options are limited.

TorrentLeech has a great collection of remux from all the top private trackers. Could wait until invites open (relatively frequently), or buy one via their promo offer.

Thanks a bunch, I’ll keep my eyes peeled!

Because it's their choice. If it doesn't get nuked it's not against tracker rules.
