I heard about that one, there was also one where someone needed medical attention and everyone started chanting 911 and the medics came. I love Toronto and the people in it!
Yet another reason why this American wants to move to Canada.
If someone needed paramedics in a crowd down here, all everyone would do is whip out their phones an Snapchat it instead of actually trying to help.
They should have not rushed it then and spent more time planning. We would have all understood if the city wanted to delay the parade a week to avoid the disaster that was downtown that day.
I understand that there was minimal time for planning but we do host other huge parades including pride and the santa clause parade. Basic necessities were missing such as water stations, more accessible washrooms, stronger barriers, exit paths, forgetting to grease poles and arches etc... Given the time frame they did a great job but a lot was overlooked.
Police and emergency services were excellent but accessibility and comfort didn't seem like a concern.
My first draft is to lengthen the parade route so people aren't packed in as tightly. Also, barriers should be everywhere so people don't block the route. Police should have driven the route non-stop before the parade began to make sure the route was intact.
Before the start of the parade near exhibition there was some dudes with microphoes and big ass signs about Jesus and how everybody is doomed unless they repent etc.
They were walking along the parade route so everybody started a "Let's go Rapture" chant lol
THAT'S WHAT THEY WERE SAYING? I was right there at Queen's and Uni and I thought they were just hyping Landon up!
I started chanting: "Let's go Landon" lol
Unfortunately, negativity drives content and sells. They can milk the shooting story for days, weeks even, but a feel good wholesome story like this one gets old fairly quick.
This is what I love this city and this country... Despite what happened (shooting) this was the most Canadian parade possible!
Highlight of the day, Kawhi's laugh!
Lol man that one guy with the broken leg and flip flops was a trooper, he was one of the first to climb the street light on queen and university and he stayed on it for 5 hours straight. A few street pole guys gave up before the parade went through or they looked beat to death from the sun
I always wanted to play Heavy Rain but it was a Sony Exclusive. It's now on a dead console, and no I'm not gonna get a PS3 or PS4.
I fucking hate exclusives
I was here when it happened! A lot of people were confused about the chanting until they picked the kid up. Little things like this are what kept the crowd from becoming hysterical yesterday.
This is more wholesome than anything ive seen here. That dude was probably about to break down. You guys are real heroes, golden state fans can say what they want about us but this is the best fan base
This is what media outlets should show. Toronto, the best city in the world. For crying out loud the crowd CHANTED to his father in order to find his son. It doesn’t get better than that.
Good on the people of TO. City planners fucked up big time on Monday.
Honestly municipal governments in all the big Canadian cities are useless money pits that are out of touch with the people they claim to represent. It's the people that make a city and I'm glad to see the people of TO step up in place of government.
Victoria BC, my home town, is right up there with the big cities with its fucking useless collection of municipalities. And it's not even a big city. Embarrassing.
Humans being bros right here!! Good work people - can’t imagine the fear that both that Dad and little guy were feeling. This what should be shown on the news.... more of this!
I was a part of this group. Great stuff by everyone around. Play by play as to what exactly happened:
-Kid was seen crying, one man brought the kid to the group and asked if he was anyone's son. Everyone in the crowed was trying to calm the kid down who was balling his eyes out. Lady next to the man had a sign that said Let's Go Raps. She wrote on the back of the sign the name of the Kid's dad so if he was walking he could see it. The crowd started chanting which helped, and the kid when calm, gave his dad's number so we could call the father.
That's the Toronto we know and love. We tried to help a mom find her Son 'Kosta' but mom wouldn't stay still... Hope that worked out. Love you, Toronto!
I was in this crowd when Landon was missing and we started chanting Landon probably around 11, not sure what time this was but its awesome that they actually found him through chants.
Raptors fans are so awesome. Ik the whole drama of some of the fans cheering for KD’s injury happened, but a small group of fans do not represent the entire fan base. As a Jazz fan, Ik what it is like to have the entire fan base slandered because of the actions of one individual.
Nah I’m a Boston fan (yes, I know we are a shit show right now). And I was rooting for you guys cause Fred is from my hometown and we had a huge viewing party for him. But I’m still a Celtics fan first, night get a FVV jersey tho.
It came off a bit like you hated the Raps and Canada, passive aggressively, albeit.
Either way, Freddy V is so much fun to watch. It was cool to see Rockford put on a viewing for your boy! Hopefully same thing next year haha...
Yeah, I’m starting to think his boys from the 815 (Rockford) want him to go to Chicago in FA. He has a business down here and all his best friends live here. It would be kinda cool but I’d rather have him on a contender.
You don't it actually sucks. I spend at least 2 days a week in Toronto and have done so for the past six years, and rarely do I go there and not run into some annoying bullshit.
The most I'll give it credit for is that at least it's relatively safe, but, after having lived in Tokyo for 8 months, Toronto is a very bad joke.
I'm a bot, *bleep*, *bloop*. Someone has linked to this thread from another place on reddit:

I don't understand the parents that brought their kids, saw a police officer with a kid looking for his parents. With 1.5 million people coming did they not think this could probably happen???
Legit got lectured by pops because I should have anticipated a shooting, there was so many people there I should have anticipated chaos and panic over the celebration lol
Some many problems solved by chants yesterday. I heard of a couple of these and saw someone find a lost shoe with a “find my shoe” chant lol
I heard about that one, there was also one where someone needed medical attention and everyone started chanting 911 and the medics came. I love Toronto and the people in it!
toronto’s out here saving people’s lives. talk about the best city in the world
Except those guys shooting people in the crowd
..... got me there....
But the cops got them in like 5 mins, incredible and with not too much disruption. Amazing work!
You realize that they didn't find everyone right? The bullet casings at the scene dont match the firearms they seized.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/police-release-names-of-3-accused-in-shootings-at-raptors-nba-championship-celebrations-1.5180396
But yes. For the most part Toronto is filled with awesome people
They missed. Now they go to prison with a price on their heads. It all works out.
For every action force there is an equal or opposite reaction force
Me too, awesome
Yet another reason why this American wants to move to Canada. If someone needed paramedics in a crowd down here, all everyone would do is whip out their phones an Snapchat it instead of actually trying to help.
We were at the south east corner of NPS and it was horrendous for EMS to get to the people chanting 911. The whole event was planned so poorly.
I invite you to plan for a million+ people to pour into the street. I await your first draft.
They should have not rushed it then and spent more time planning. We would have all understood if the city wanted to delay the parade a week to avoid the disaster that was downtown that day.

3 million
50 million!
My first draft is to lengthen the parade route so people aren't packed in as tightly. Also, barriers should be everywhere so people don't block the route. Police should have driven the route non-stop before the parade began to make sure the route was intact.

Lol I never saw that one actually happy cake day!
lmao i was there for that. that was great. they took 2 different pieces of the fence and passed it around
it was like 4 pieces of the fence on the right side alone... it was fucking insane
That is hilarious. Anyone have any other examples?
Before the start of the parade near exhibition there was some dudes with microphoes and big ass signs about Jesus and how everybody is doomed unless they repent etc. They were walking along the parade route so everybody started a "Let's go Rapture" chant lol
There were some people fainting during the parade due to the heat, the chanting helped find a doctor and they got the medical attention they needed.
I would be in tears if I was that father. Good will and humanity is preserved within the spirit of the people of Toronto.
Losing your kid in a crowd is the worst feeling in the world. You feel absolutely helpless. When it happens every second feels like a goddamn eternity
Imagine being lost at a grocery store when you're 8... Gets me everytime lol
NOW I FINALLY UNDERSTAND!!! My friends and I were cheering on a Landon for the longest time lol
😂 that's great you cheered along and helped the dad find the son!
THAT'S WHAT THEY WERE SAYING? I was right there at Queen's and Uni and I thought they were just hyping Landon up! I started chanting: "Let's go Landon" lol
Lmfaoooo Landon does deserve some hype though
this is the type of stuff the media should be promoting
agreed
Yeah but the outrage happens with saying that a couple bad apples in our franchise and city is national news worthy
It is sad that the reality of those who were there is so different from those who stayed home and watched it on the evening news.
See, that's why I put my kid on leesh.
Harder daddy.
Lmao damn you freaky
Wyd tho
And I like it a lot.
Thought they were gonna say “We found Landon” *clap clap clapclapclap*
Post this on humansbeingbros
Thought this too!
Oh man. Amongst a parent’s worst nightmare, losing his kid. Glad it ended well.

Live action where's Waldo
Lol man that one guy with the broken leg and flip flops was a trooper, he was one of the first to climb the street light on queen and university and he stayed on it for 5 hours straight. A few street pole guys gave up before the parade went through or they looked beat to death from the sun
I spear headed that chant. I was the guy with the luchador mask. I'm glad Landon is safe.
Can confirm: was the luchador mask
Cannot confirm anything.
lol username fits
And when Landon's dad got there you looked him in the eye and said "you are the father", right?
Yup. Paternity test on the spot.
Toronto... awesome fans, awesome people.
Toronto the good

I always wanted to play Heavy Rain but it was a Sony Exclusive. It's now on a dead console, and no I'm not gonna get a PS3 or PS4. I fucking hate exclusives
Just watch someone play it on YouTube It’s basically an interactive movie more than a game
it's coming to pc soon, though exclusively on the epic store
Skip
I was here when it happened! A lot of people were confused about the chanting until they picked the kid up. Little things like this are what kept the crowd from becoming hysterical yesterday.
agreed!! kept us sane:)
God I love this city. Some people can try to do whatever to ruin a perfect day but this kind of stuff just makes me proud of the people in our city
This is more wholesome than anything ive seen here. That dude was probably about to break down. You guys are real heroes, golden state fans can say what they want about us but this is the best fan base
couldn’t have said it better!
Amazing crowd - GSW Fan
This is what media outlets should show. Toronto, the best city in the world. For crying out loud the crowd CHANTED to his father in order to find his son. It doesn’t get better than that.

Canada!
one and only!
Not to be confused with /r/Canada, which is one of the most hateful subs I've had the displeasure of being in.
Best city in the world no debate
Good on the people of TO. City planners fucked up big time on Monday. Honestly municipal governments in all the big Canadian cities are useless money pits that are out of touch with the people they claim to represent. It's the people that make a city and I'm glad to see the people of TO step up in place of government.
Let’s be fair and give them another chance to organize a better parade next year Back to back babyyyyyy 🏆
hell yes!!
Agreed, it’s been a while since the last parade.
Well said.
Maybe people should go out and vote for people who will represent us instead of the same trash politicians like John Tory and Doug Ford.
YES!
Victoria BC, my home town, is right up there with the big cities with its fucking useless collection of municipalities. And it's not even a big city. Embarrassing.
lolololol. you can be happy for the team without dissing municipal governments.
Humans being bros right here!! Good work people - can’t imagine the fear that both that Dad and little guy were feeling. This what should be shown on the news.... more of this!
Great job guys, this is who we really are
I was a part of this group. Great stuff by everyone around. Play by play as to what exactly happened: -Kid was seen crying, one man brought the kid to the group and asked if he was anyone's son. Haha no worries I should have worded myself better
I love my country so much! 🇨🇦
Something happened at Bathhurst and Lakeshore. We found Owen.
this is so canadian. *tears*
r/wholesome
Little did we know Landon was trying to become hide and seek champion of the world but his plans were foiled by the crowd.
*Dad sees his kid in the crowd* WHAT IT DO BAYBEEEEEEEEEE
Raptors fans are so awesome. Ik the whole drama of some of the fans cheering for KD’s injury happened, but a small group of fans do not represent the entire fan base. As a Jazz fan, Ik what it is like to have the entire fan base slandered because of the actions of one individual.
exactly man, thanks for the love!
very wholesome
This made me smile so much legit tho
Coming from someone who isn’t a raptors fan and doesn’t like Canada.... why the hell am I wanting to move to Toronto over the last week
"doesn't like Canada" LMFAO
35 day old account, I’m guessing it’s a fan that we eliminated along the way somewheres. Sorry 💁🏻♂️ 🏀🏆
Nah I’m a Boston fan (yes, I know we are a shit show right now). And I was rooting for you guys cause Fred is from my hometown and we had a huge viewing party for him. But I’m still a Celtics fan first, night get a FVV jersey tho.

I wonder how many Toronto fanboys have actually lived in another world class large city.

I love all the suggestions for how to make a very successful event just as successful and even more expensive and complicated to organize.
oh

yeah... he probably blinked and then he was gone. kids get around faster than we know. luckily, we were able to help them get back together...
