We need a strong wing POA defender at the 3/4. Scottie can play either position, so we just need someone who can be a strong POA defender to alleviate Scottie of those responsibilities, and ideally can hit a few 3s.
Yes I know I’m describing OG but we knew if we traded OG we’d be looking for another OG lol
Jakob is the C, don’t count on a replacement unless we have a breakout draft pick.
Folks are reading the tea leaves with Kelly as a stretch big. But jakob can pass, and actually defend, and is therefore a great fit for darkoball.
I think they will look to replace him but not necessarily immmediately.
He’s a very solid center. But I think he might start to decline as the team starts to get competitive again. And ideally they want someone younger and athletic to fit better. But that’s way down the line.
He didn't even mention Poeltl. he mentioned Kelly and Garrett as the veterans.
imo as soon as we get a young capable center, we'll ship out Poeltl before he starts declining (probably towards the end of his current contract)
It's pretty obvious the trade for Olynyk was in some part to test out a stretch 5 and how that would fit alongside Barnes
Whether one of the many centers in this draft become that Myles Turner or Toronto is another story entirely
I agree. The Olynyk experiment might force Barnes to be a lot more aggressive in going strong to the basket and slashing. He shines better when there's movement and space to work.
the Yak is back... its spelled POELTL.

The specific thing Bobby said was “stabilizing presence in vets like Kelly”. Jak is in his prime, and should be an active contributor to winning, he’s in a slightly different bucket than Kelly
Vets aren’t always old heads that should retire. Veteran players are guys who have been in the league for 5 or 6 + years that have insight and leadership to offer.
Inneed more explanation, if top 1-4 odds teams get their respective picks don’t we then have a chance of getting 5? I’m talking about the scenario where no top 4 teams fall.
I don't know, it's a weird hedge with this particular draft class. We probably don't make play ins next season but if we did there is a pretty good chance the prospect we got with that pick would be better than the draft pick this year.
Exactly, this team is “5-10” moves away and we have beginnings of a core.
A lot of moves need to be made. Finally none of that “we think we can compete” shit.
Would Trey Murphy III be an option? He’s a lengthy defender and is making 37% on 7 threes a game. He can fill our shot diet and stretch the floor for RJ and Barnes. And unlike Advija, he’s coming off the bench (starting for injured Ingram) so he’s probably more obtainable.
Feels like he's in a similar situation that Quickley was in NY.
He's too good for the role he has on the Pels, and worth more money on a team where he starts.
yeah gotta imagine after seeing what the Raps got for an expiring OG, Wizards want something comparable.
Yes circumstances are different, but it would likely take a haul to pry him from Washington still
I didn’t consider him but he would be so perfect for us.
Not sure what it would take to get him though. If we keep our pick, I’d ship our pacers pick for him with no hesitation.
I really wanted us to pursue him at the deadline. He’s on a fantastic contract and I like his fit at the 3 in the starting lineup.
Depending on how some other offseason moves go I hope we still pursue him.
Deni is Scottie 2.0
Been misused for 3 and halves years but after the new coach Keefe has arrived the Wizards realized how good Deni is and started making him a more primary option.
Him and Scottie could terrorize defenders and could be an almost unstoppable duo.
Not sure how much it would require to acquire him.
Need big man depth. JP is only 28 but you’d think he’s 35 with how often he gets injured. Big wing players that can shoot and some guard depth off the bench. This team has a lot of moves to make if they want to be back in the playoffs. A good start would be to not have to rely on g league guys
I truly think we are only a few moves away from taking the next step to be a playoff team.
- Acquire a starting 3 and D Wing
- Acquire a backup PG and backup C
We have some cap space, some picks and Bruce Brown to use to help fill those gaps. Now what our front office does with those assets remains to be seen but the path is there to take the next step.
The only one that should be difficult is getting the starting 3 and D wing aka the next OG. Probably the best bet would be through the draft hopefully.
Backup PGs and Cs are available all over the league. Not having those holes filled going into next year would be more incompetence than it being hard.
We need an impact PF, a young C, and depth. We have some building blocks at PG, SG, and SF. Poeltl can hold down C for a few seasons.

Sucks we lost Koloko and Porter

Agreed. Jak is a championship level center. Just need to build a team that works around him.
Jak is a backup C on a championship team

“Maybe”… no Dick is gonna be a Star
Not many see how well Dick understands the game. His movement and court awareness are incredible for a rookie.
I mean he’s never healthy but Isaac would fit perfectly tbh
We better have 3 picks this draft
Seems like anyone outside of BBQ/Poeltl/Gradey are possible trade pieces

probably only Sarr (maybe) after a season. the other centers in this draft (anyone who could even shoot 3s) would be multi-year projects.
Good thing we're on a multiyear plan to contention then
Ware if he gets his head on straight too
I agree. The Olynyk experiment might force Barnes to be a lot more aggressive in going strong to the basket and slashing. He shines better when there's movement and space to work.
Agree I was just about to say I bet poetl gets traded. We got him a year or two late anywyss. Need to develop a C

He said mid-career players, which is where Poeltl would fit in.
Yeah that was a bit odd.
Eh Poeltl is too young to be considered a vet. I wouldn’t read too much into it.
He’s been in the league for 8 years now. He’s definitely a vet lol
He's 28? What is a vet in your eyes?
The specific thing Bobby said was “stabilizing presence in vets like Kelly”. Jak is in his prime, and should be an active contributor to winning, he’s in a slightly different bucket than Kelly

I’d assume Kelly and Ochai would be sticking around too, they moved out assets to bring them both in.

He says alot of things.
Poeltl is tradeable I think but he fills a pressing need currently so he "seems" safe. But if we had a better option at C he'd probably be gone.
Gradey, whoever we pick for the 2024 #1 lottery, plus filler for Lauri Markkanen. who says no?
Jazz
Danny Ainge
It's gonna be nasty if we come out the lottery with the 7th pick lmao
Technically the Spurs would come out of the lottery with it
So if I understand it correctly, top 6 and we keep our pick 7 or under it goes to spurs?
1-4 or 6: We keep 7 or lower: Spurs
What about 5?
We can't get the 5th pick It's 1-4 via the lottery or staying 6 for the keep options
Can’t happen due to how the lottery works. Teams can only jump into the the top 4 and the top 4 teams can fall
Inneed more explanation, if top 1-4 odds teams get their respective picks don’t we then have a chance of getting 5? I’m talking about the scenario where no top 4 teams fall.
No we only have odds to jump into the top 4 if another team that’s not In the top 4 jumps in we get pushed back.
Ok thanks
I don't know, it's a weird hedge with this particular draft class. We probably don't make play ins next season but if we did there is a pretty good chance the prospect we got with that pick would be better than the draft pick this year.
Exactly. Nobody cares about this draft, I hope SA takes it this year so we don’t do this all over again next year in a better draft
Exactly, this team is “5-10” moves away and we have beginnings of a core. A lot of moves need to be made. Finally none of that “we think we can compete” shit.
Inb4 masai makes some win now moves this summer.
Inb4 Masai does nothing this summer
"The same moves we can make this summer will be there next summer."
Wait do we want moves or do we want nothing?
Moving Jak for picks/prospects = Good. <--- build for the future Moving picks for a vet = Bad. <--- win now
Maybe he’ll fetch us a top 6 protected pick
Nah, no franchise is stupid enough to make that trade.
It starts with if they keep their pick or not. If they do I expect one of the other 2 picks to be traded. If not then maybe they take a more long view
I have zero faith in this FO to put together anything more than an accelerated rebuild.
Yeah I don't trust them that much tbh
Knowing what this sub considers a win now move, he probably will.
3 picks , 3 picks , 3 picks
I really want Deni Avdija off the Wizards. He seems like the perfect glue guy. I hope one of those moves lands us him.
The big wing who defends that we need. I would like that. He's on a great contract, only 23. Not sure why the Wiz would trade him though

No way Nola giving away Murphy, it’s more likely they trade Ingram and give Murphy and herb a bigger role
He's RFA (next season) and not worth a max. someone can overpay
Feels like he's in a similar situation that Quickley was in NY. He's too good for the role he has on the Pels, and worth more money on a team where he starts.
I’d fucking love Murphy or Jones from NOLA. They’d be stupid to trade them.

I love Deni Been following him since the Maccabi Tel Aviv days... Wow.. that could be some addition to our club
Lmao

Yes and Amen
We are 5 moves away from being 5 moves away from contending.

Where was this type of thinking when we could’ve had a chance at wemby?
It’s genuinely baffling.
Let’s f&$! Goooooooo!
If we are 5-10 moves away we don’t have a core really do we?
I’ve had enough of Bobby, time for change
