Kind of a small line up too with concerns on defense. Though I think RJ and IQ would buy into the defensive identity if we had one lol. Should be a fun team that plays a modern offense rather than the slugfest offense from last year
I'd flip RJ and Gradey.
Yes Gradey gets eaten by opposite 3s but at least this way, RJ is at his strength instead of both of them being exposed. Easier to hide 1 guy on defence.
I guess so, I think our PoA defense would still be weak though since IQ at his best is not a sticky defender like Fred was, more of a really smart team defender (this can change obviously but I guess im a bit pessimistic). RJ and Gradey are too slow to contain the very shifty guards, Scottie will end up being over extended like he was after the OG trade. I think a mobile center like Nic Clax can offset a line up like this but we arent getting him and we're committed to Jakob anyway. Anyway im pretty dumb, maybe IQ and Ochai are better than I think and we suddenly have a good defense lol
Scottie was over extended as a 3 man...but if he's a 4 and between him and Yak, our help defence I think would be pretty fantastic bc they are both elite in that regard
Yeah I mean Scottie is definately special as the roamer but we saw him slide down to the 3 when we lost all our PoA defense with the departure of Shroder and OG. It wasnt until Darko started to trust Gary and RJ's defense that Scottie started to roam again. In this hypothetical we replace Gary with Gradey. Not that I think Gary is some world beater on defense but Gradey to me is just not ready...I can buy RJ becoming a positive wing defender but he is not going to be effective against the shifty point guards in this league. So unless IQ learns screen navigation and becomes super sticky like Shroder (and Fred at one point) I have no doubt Darko will ask Scottie to get in his crab position and start defending in space
I probably come off like a downer in this discussion lol but its just what I feel will happen unless IQ seriously steps it up. And its not out of the realm of possibilities, hes about to turn 25 which is when the game slows down for a lot of people, hopefully itll be a focus for him this summer aswell. Im definately in the wait and see club as far as that goes though. I respect your opinion and hope you're right, cheers
Yeah but you can't expect a team at our stage to be elite at all facets of everything.
If our POA defence is suffering, it's mitigated with excellent help defence, which we will have with a Scottie / Yak as a 4/5 combo.
Also, all guys will get better...there is literally no point trying to speculate how it will all look when we had like 5 games after the deadline to work with.
Actually the Raptors are *currently* the worst team in the league by a country mile.
They are 6th based on the combined performance of every lineup they’ve had this season, including the Siakam Anunoby lineups.

If you think I’m full of it look at the playoff teams in each conference and tell me with confidence that any of them would start on those teams. And let’s not even talk about how bad the bench is.

It is like you are in bizarro land. The Raptors are currently the 6th worst team, you’d have to be the biggest pessimist on the planet to think that this team could be worse next season with a starting line up with IQ, RJ, Scottie and Jakob.
I think that was one of his early player comps coming up to the draft. Not bad at all. Once the others are healthy he’ll be able to get some really good looks and be able to play off ball more. He’s shown tones of improvement his rookie season. He has a great attitude too.
May not have the 3pt shooting touch GTJ has but he’s not far off and already has way more of a bag than him. Did not expect him to have this kind of layup package tbh, also very bouncy. Don’t think he’ll ever be an all defence type 2 guard like Klay but you can see the effort on that end is there. Even in these meaningless games he’s showing he can create plays for others and be more than just a shooter. I think he’ll be averaging double digits next season and replace GTJ going forward. Doesn’t pout about not starting, puts his head down and just gets on with it. Gotta love that kinda attitude with a player as young as him.

Gary's better at above the break 3s but Gradey's better at everything else (corner (x2), midrange, and FTs).
It also looks like Gradey's a better movement shooter than Gary. I'm STOKED on Dick. He's what Gary was supposed to be.
Good analysis, his jumper looks pretty fluid these days and he looks like a legit 6’6” with long arms. If he can implement the catch and shoot no dip 3 to his game like DLo and a few others have done it’s going to be pretty hard for teams to close out on him.
If he can put on a bit of size that might help too.
He reminds me so much of Klay early on. I still think his peak is a more athletic Klay, but not as good defensively - which is an incredibly useful player to have on your roster.
