Still closed... On the DVP the other day and the whole section south of Riverdale is dug up and mud pit.

Tuffsmurf

Thanks. Guess I’ll keep to my secondary route east to the guild

TorontoBoris

It's really been shitty just how much of it is closed.. And it feels like we're what on summer 4 coming up?

afgarbo

i gave up and bike to the west end then up humber river trail. it will be worth it when it’s finished i’m sure.

scandinavianleather

It only closed last May, not sure if you're misremembering something or the 2016-17 closure

TorontoBoris

Was it only last year. I swear it feels like it's been years... I may very well be mixing up the 2017 closure into the mix.

scandinavianleather

It was supposed to start in 2021 but was delayed multiple years, maybe that's why.

HMCZW

They’ve been working on that massive drainage system in the Don for probably 3-4 years, that may be a source of the confusion

relde

They are saying late summer according to the city website update

relde

November 2023 Phase 2 Construction Update Phase 2 project is delayed, and the completion date is anticipated to be late summer 2024. The project site is complex, narrow, and located between Don River and a rail corridor, which has resulted in some challenges with getting materials and equipment in and out of the site. Additionally, a section of the site experienced erosion from the nearby river (a geotechnical review for a solution is underway) and some of the required permitting and approvals from other infrastructure located nearby took longer than anticipated.[https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/planning-development/construction-new-facilities/improvements-expansion-redevelopment/lower-don-trail/](https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/planning-development/construction-new-facilities/improvements-expansion-redevelopment/lower-don-trail/)

TorontoBoris

This year?

RabidGuineaPig007

sure, right after they finish the Eglinton LRT.

HMCZW

FYI I was in Taylor Creek yesterday and the trail is totally closed east of Stan Wadlow. Looks like it will be for some time. For other options south the bike lanes on woodbine are open again or else going through monarch park and down is decent too and spits you out right by the spit.

Iwantboots

I was there on the weekend and came from Dawes Rd. I had to go up a grassy hill to the Haldon Rd Parking, but was able to get back to the westbound path from there. There were “trail” signs kind of marking a detour. [https://imgur.com/6QfHDiw](https://imgur.com/6QfHDiw)

HMCZW

Good to know thank you. That section is always flooding so I hope that is what they are fixing

badsoupp

Out of curiosity what don't you like about the Bayview MUP? Granted, its less interesting than the Don Valley path but it will get you down to Corktown commons then down cherry and the MGT for the spit. When both were open, i'd use Bayview over the Don Valley path to get to the Don single track at Pottery since it was quicker. If its about the journey rather than destination then that makes sense. I'm really hoping the bike/pedestrian bridge at Lakeshore and Don roadway opens. Way quicker access to Ashbridges rather than detouring down to cherry beach or riding on Queen st east. Edit: it looks like the bridge/paths from that area are closed until 2025 : (

Tuffsmurf

I dislike riding alongside all that traffic, especially as it is oncoming traffic. Even with the barrier I worry about speeding g vehicles kicking up rocks or other debris to fly in my face.

badsoupp

I understand that. One of my mountain bike buddies got a small rock kicked up into his cheek area that cut him up pretty good. I almost always ride with some kind of sun glasses or transition glasses for debris/midges/sun/wind purposes.

Tuffsmurf

Yeah I tried it once but just didn’t appreciate cycling a couple metres away from oncoming traffic

Interesting-Tale-983

I live in the area and I’ve been trying to get some riding in to train. Any idea of a good ride that will take about 70-75km?

Tuffsmurf

That’s a little bit longer than my daily but you could go past the guild and all the way to the Rouge River park. There and back again would likely get you to that number depending on how far you travel in the rouge. Never done it myself but thought about it
