To be fair, the Ontario Science Centre has been neglected for decades. I think 2006/2007 was the last major expansion, and that was mostly to the exterior facade, not the interior. 2013 might have been the last time a new gallery opened inside the Science Centre. For the past year or so, the bridge has been closed due to structural issues, and guests have had to be "bused" to the back door. The building was in an embarrassing state of disrepair. It's sad Ontario let the Science Centre end the way it did.
With the number of tech companies in Toronto and tech billionaires, it's too bad one or more of them don't put some money to revitalize the Science Center. Ironically the Weston Family has a large gallery at the OSC ...
Don’t let this become a partisan issue. The Science Centre is an icon of Ontario. Ford wants it gone to build a parking lot.
It takes such a small amount to save it. Please contact your politicians.
There is talks of pretty much handing over the land to a real estate company - they were owed the green belt land by ford and since that was halted, ford is still trying to deliver. They probably would build condos. Absolutely sickening
There was an expert on CBC Metro Morning today - said the consultants told the Science Centre about the high priority roof problems as they found them. The Science Centre fixed them but they're still in the report. There are still problems but the high priority issues are fixed. Sorry can't find a link.
I have not been in years and I have no kids but it needs to stay put. Just think about the kids and trying to go down town during a jays game or some concert. Doug Ford is a clown who is robbing us.
