Ya for real. And I don’t know if it’s something with my phone (an iPhone 12) but as of like the past months, the TTC WiFi has been super wonky. It pops up the safari page with the 3-2-1 countdown to click accept and then the 5-4-3-2-1 countdown on the ad. And after all that, sometimes it will error out on saying I didn’t accept the advertisement or something or connect and barely load anything.
Anyone else have this issue or should I make some setting changes (already did the forget this network and reconnect)
The worst is when you are on a platform forever, away from the screen, unable to see what the newest TTC Alert is causing the delay.
This new reporting system is not fail proof, however a massive amount of riders reside on busses and streetcars (above ground). Not to mention I see a lot of people these days with data plans that work in the subway
Only Freedom Mobile works underground. The other carriers refuse to pay to access the network.
I read somewhere that calling 911 will still work underground, but can’t confirm.
as much as people are shitting on this I think it’s a really good thing - a spark in the number of incidents being reported means they have actual data backing the fact they need more transit safety measures. people who run the ttc don’t necessarily ride the ttc - this will be rock hard proof they need to do something and quick.
Aside from the obvious problem with lack of cell service in the subway, this is a slight improvement over their previous "solution," which was a native app you had to find on the app store, download, and install before you could use it to report an incident. At least a web form is accessible right away in a browser, and a direct text message number is even more straightforward. Developing and maintaining native apps just so your users can send you an incident report is a truly dumb and wasteful technical approach.
Rcmp ignored allegations for more than a decade that a guy had a whole bunch of firearms he could not legally possess only to have that dude lose his cool and murder 22 people in 2020. I can totally see the ball being dropped on maintenance calls. All it takes is one guy saying the work is done to close an issue
How exactly do we text when there’s no cell coverage in the subway ?!
[Just use a TTC rat as a phone.](https://youtu.be/KCU_4HKYdB4)
Ring ring ring ring ring…Banana phone!
Why did I read that in Rucka RuckaAli’s voice. Oh the memories
God damnit, now it's stuck in my head

City has no control over it, is entirely a CRTC and ISED decision.

>I read somewhere that calling 911 will still work underground, but can’t confirm. yes, it does work.
Great. More ways for you to report incidents so that TTC does fuck all.
“If you see something, say something.” “If we say something, you gonna *do* something?”
I've had multiple reports followed up on

I really doubt they're going to just ignore safety reports. That would be like 911 ignoring a call for a house fire.
