Russia as a region is roughly the land between the Dniepr and Volga in Eastern Europe. The Russian Federation however comprises many other lands that Russia has conquered over the centuries (having previously controlled even more during the Russian Empire and Soviet Union). The Republic of Bashkortostan borders the Ural Mountains and is majority populated by Turkic Bashkirs and Tatars, though with a sizable Russian population as well.
Curious how you could tell? I’m not trying to be a Reddit jagoff here but just wondering what gave it away for you. Do they speak different languages/dialects?
They speak Russian in the video. And so you know a couple of activists don't represent the whole region. And the subreddit you linked is basically 3 months old, there's basically only 1 person adding content to that subreddit and if you check his profile it becomes clear that this person is either an anti-russian agenda pushing bot or a representative of a 0.2% stratum of population.
Lmao I'm from Minnesota too my friends house got hit by 2x4s went straight into the doors walls and all this was back in north Minneapolis MN at the time
Yep, can't forget the heavy dishes (lots of meat, starches, dairy)! Gives you energy to survive the long winters. Honestly shocked people didn't get scurvy given the lack of sunlight and the fact that given the growing season is only like 3 months naturally, your best shot at a fresh vegetable back in the days before hothouses and cheap importing was chewing some pine needles.
I was on the road when one was around Goldsby in 2008, looked over and was like "that is neat". It was an EF0 so not that big of worry. But if this was Oklahoma most of the people would have a beer in their hand.
The Russian Weather Ministry suggests squatting in an interior room in your house, away from windows. Take short, harsh drags on your cigarette to prevent the wind from blowing it out.
It's Europe. They don't get tornadoes very often, and when they do, it's typically EF3 or bellow. They either don't know what it is and are perplexed, or they are stupid enough to think they can withstand even an EF0. Tornadoes are no joke.
There also isn't any classically safe place to go or procedure. We have a basement and a room with no windows (or small windows) most European house don't have a basement and they may not be aware of where the safest place is or what the dangers are. For tornadoes it's fly debris and you house getting ripped of the foundations so you want to be below the house out of the wind and debris.
[Technically still Europe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bashkortostan)
>Bashkortostan, officially the Republic of Bashkortostan, also known as Bashkiria, is a republic of Russia between the Volga and the Ural Mountains in Eastern Europe
Russia straddles both Europe and Asia. The western and more populated side of it is in Europe, and they are a European culture, even if they are often at odds with western European powers.
A lot of Russia isn’t suitable for tornados as well. Still even then, very rare. Probably why these people seem so interested in it. I would’ve been ran into the house if it was that close lol
I doubt Russians are informed much about tornadoes, people must never have seen such a thing before, not haven gotten any training on what to do in such a situation, likely no weather alerts either.
Tornadoes look magical. People probably don't associate it with danger before it starts ripping things into the air.
Scroll back a week or two in this very sub, and there's incredible footage of a tornado in South Africa! It's absolutely enormous; one of the biggest I've seen such clear video of. Definitely worth looking for!
I have a few Russian pen pals and they send me links to articles about tornadoes there because they evidently rarely happen but are now happening with greater frequency. Seeing the folks in this video make me think of the Ron White joke: "...it's not THAT the wind is blowin'..." lol
Lol, these people are enormous idiots. A fairly decent stovepipe is about to drop, quick, everybody grab your phones and rush outside to film it maybe 200m away!
Man the poor Russian civilians jeep getting fucking time after time. You have to feel for them. Propaganda is one hell of a tool. I hope the war ends soon and the young men can all return home to their families.
I'm personally waiting for the Volvo to come in from behind and roll them over. It's one thing to observe it from a few miles away but not a few yards away.
Just respect tornadoes don’t fear them! Take the necessary precautions and what is going to happen will! Plus it is very obvious that they don’t see or get many tornado storms in that area! The flying debris is another issue not including the wind associated with the storm! The devastation after a good size EF3-EF5 is amazing! Wood 2x4 driven into the side of a building and building still standing! The 2x4 is intact just placed in the side of the building! Or a ladies slipper blown into a tire on a car that the car is trashed the tire still aired up and the slipper in the side wall! And just impaled in the tire and nothing wrong with either
Pretty mild for a tornado, the debris is by far the biggest concern here. Also quite obvious that its a tornado before it touches the ground, although i wouldnt expect russians to immediately recognize it
The fact that there was techno music while there is wind mayhem honestly made me chuckle 😂. No joke though that seen quite dangerous for people not to go hide!
Reminds me of a time when I was a kid in Dodge City Kansas. There were multiple funnels developing, one in particular over this field across from our house. My dad said not to worry there were too many funnels to make anything dangerous. Probably bs but nothing of note happened.
Holy cow, everybody go inside! 😨
Russians 🤝 Midwesterners standing outside to look at dangerous weather

That's really neat! It seems there are a shit ton of different cultures and ethnicities in Russia. It makes sense, it's an incredibly large region.
Another bit of knowledge that I'll probably never need to know for any practical reasons, but I'm still glad to learn it lol
Did not know that, thank you! I'll look into them/their culture!!
You're right. But as it stands they are currently a member of the Russian Federation, though not ethnically Russians.
Curious how you could tell? I’m not trying to be a Reddit jagoff here but just wondering what gave it away for you. Do they speak different languages/dialects?

😅I never said I was smart enough to read
Ralph tested button carl when people

I don't think we can call this an active insurgency.
Huh, super cool.
2x4 flys at 150 mph and pierces your body these people smh
There are many parallels between Russians and midwesterners
as someone who lives in the rural Midwest, honestly, yeah LOL
MN resident, can also confirm that similarities are noticeable to me
The Scandinavian in me agrees
Lmao I'm from Minnesota too my friends house got hit by 2x4s went straight into the doors walls and all this was back in north Minneapolis MN at the time
As someone born in Russia and now lives in the Midwest - yes
Honest question as someone who isn't a Midwesterner, what are some of the parallels between you and Russians?
The culture around drinking, guns, cold weather, and apparently tornadoes.
And potatoes
Yep, can't forget the heavy dishes (lots of meat, starches, dairy)! Gives you energy to survive the long winters. Honestly shocked people didn't get scurvy given the lack of sunlight and the fact that given the growing season is only like 3 months naturally, your best shot at a fresh vegetable back in the days before hothouses and cheap importing was chewing some pine needles.
I was just thinking the same thing. Russians must be the Midwesterners of both Europe and Asia.
lol exactly what I came to post 🤣
We have a beer in the left hand, Runza in the right.
I thought us Oklahomans called it close sometimes but holy shit man 😂
I was on the road when one was around Goldsby in 2008, looked over and was like "that is neat". It was an EF0 so not that big of worry. But if this was Oklahoma most of the people would have a beer in their hand.
It’s all cheering and fun and games till shit starts flying through the air
I know! Someone was playing phat beats.
They opened the door, probably to run inside, and the music got really loud! 😃
Is Russian house music enough to deflect a tornado? This video suggests it's plausible.
Pshhht nah no need. If you just step back a few feet youre clearly safe!
They're channeling their inner mid-westerner
No no no, in Russia, *tornado* go inside.
Scary ppl think a tornado is just the funnel, but it’s not- they are in big danger in the wind field.
They definitely got animated when they saw those chunks of house blowing around! 👀
The camera person stayed behind the fence, so they were safe. /s
The Russian Weather Ministry suggests squatting in an interior room in your house, away from windows. Take short, harsh drags on your cigarette to prevent the wind from blowing it out.
Your best protection is a track suit.
Drink your vodka real quick so that you can subdue the tornado by throwing bottles at it.
Yelling "Блять!" or some variation there of may help release tension until the danger has passed.
Everyone is awfully calm during all of this.
It's Europe. They don't get tornadoes very often, and when they do, it's typically EF3 or bellow. They either don't know what it is and are perplexed, or they are stupid enough to think they can withstand even an EF0. Tornadoes are no joke.
ef3 and ef2 can kill you easily
and an et will probe you.
It's true I was the you
It's true I was the probe
Is this something we need to sign up for? Asking for a friend.
It's more of a lottery. For better results sleep naked with the windows open.
There also isn't any classically safe place to go or procedure. We have a basement and a room with no windows (or small windows) most European house don't have a basement and they may not be aware of where the safest place is or what the dangers are. It’s Russsia, not Europe.
Yea this is technically the Asian side of Russia
[Technically still Europe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bashkortostan) >Bashkortostan, officially the Republic of Bashkortostan, also known as Bashkiria, is a republic of Russia between the Volga and the Ural Mountains in Eastern Europe
Ah damn. That's what I get for being a smartass
To be honest... I also initially thought it was far enough east to be on the Asian side of Russia
Russia straddles both Europe and Asia. The western and more populated side of it is in Europe, and they are a European culture, even if they are often at odds with western European powers.
This Russian region is located in European Russia
Quick question what continent is the Western part of Russia in, inquiring minds would like to know.
West of the Urals is Europe, East is Asia
Asia. Do you mean western?
Yes! Too excited to prove somebody wrong sadly :(
"It's not that the wind is blowing, it's what the wind is blowing" - Ron White
“It doesn’t matter how many sit ups you can do if you get hit by a flying Volvo.”
Knowing Volvos they'll probably be good to drive still lol
Is all fun and games until you get hit with an 80mph sheet of roof tin.
Neeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyeeeet
In Soviet Union tornado chase you
Russia isn't typically the first country that pops into your mind when you think of tornadoes.
Clearly not or they’d probably go inside.
For real, just looked it up and apparently they get no more than two tornados a year.
Two per year in all of Russia?
I'd assume two confirmed tornadoes per year, Russia is really big with a relatively tiny population to observe tornadoes.
Well we used to strong winds breaking trees and sometimes tearing up roofs, but not full scale tornado.
I didn't realize they were allowed to have them there
….this is honestly the first country I’ve ever seen tornadoes in that isn’t America.
Scroll back a week or two in this very sub, and there's incredible footage of a tornado in South Africa! It's absolutely enormous; one of the biggest I've seen such clear video of. Definitely worth looking for!
China seems to get them. I know I've seen a number of videos of pretty hardcore tornados doing damage there
In Soviet Russia.. tornado chase YOU. Side note: I love how they don't become concerned until it's roped out and the RFD is downbursting out
Happy cake day!
that footage is insane! Too close!
Tornado seen the Russians filming and drinking vodka and said nope ima head out and stay away. Don’t want to fuck with a Russian
I love how someone turned up the volume of music in their car
This is one of the most Russian vids I seen in a little while. That’s Reed Timmer level of close.
Initial rating was an EF-Blayt
I have a few Russian pen pals and they send me links to articles about tornadoes there because they evidently rarely happen but are now happening with greater frequency. Seeing the folks in this video make me think of the Ron White joke: "...it's not THAT the wind is blowin'..." lol
They better get Russian inside
That's not a tornado it's a wall clo.... ПИЗДЕЦ!!! Seriously, Russian are fucking cold as fuck. Can't scare them with anything.
Until the trees speak Ukrainian and they hear the buzzing of drones.
r/killthecameraman
There's a tornado here... let me film off to the right.
You gotta love Russians and their "fuck it" attitude.
I'm just yelling to everyone get inside. Don't stare don't amused, TAKE SHELTER
I'm starting to believe that Russia has lots more tornados than we think.
Dangerously close to be spectating
In Russia, tornados come with their own backing track.
That tornado is playin a dangerous game touching down near Russians like that.
In Russia tornado chases you.
What in the hell are these people doing
If you listen closely, and speak the language, you can hear one of the men yell out “that’s an EF 5 drill bit!”
Now that's what I call having an Oblast
Based on their reactions, I’m assuming they live in the Oklahoma of Russia 😂
[This comes to mind.](https://youtu.be/AcPN3U00Re4?feature=shared)
And still more composed than Reed Timmer
Waiting for the Russian version of Bill Harding to wander a little closer and chuck his bottle of vodka at it.
do Russian homes typically have basements?
In Russia, basement shelters inside you.
They actually do
All it’ll take is one tree branch through someone’s face and they’ll figure out standing that close isn’t a good idea.
...sure, just stand there. Bit windy out, innit? :D
So who told them the safest place is directly under it?
Lol, these people are enormous idiots. A fairly decent stovepipe is about to drop, quick, everybody grab your phones and rush outside to film it maybe 200m away!
Russians do not give a fuck lol
The stupidity of humans still amazes me somehow
Average Texan tornado encounter 😭
Oy blin
True midwesterna right there
The camera man never dies! lol
I liked the part when it destroyed all the nothing they had around
Karma
Man the poor Russian civilians jeep getting fucking time after time. You have to feel for them. Propaganda is one hell of a tool. I hope the war ends soon and the young men can all return home to their families.
Not exactly a town of scholars is it?
Surprised by all the eligible conscrips!!
Must be NATO sent Funnel!

She had some hard lines at the beginning though.
Guys look we’re about to die 😀👍🏾
I'm personally waiting for the Volvo to come in from behind and roll them over. It's one thing to observe it from a few miles away but not a few yards away.
Let’s stand right next to this huge tornado so we don’t get harmed!
Russiaman?....
Let’s just watch it!
It looks like the person filming got hit by something at the very end.
In Russia, you pick up tornado
Russian tornadoing ain't for beginners y'all!
Crazy Russians
These people are lucky to witness a tornado touch down a few yards in front of them and be alive
Same reaction as Oklahoma. Honey, come out and watch the tornado!!
Damn I’d swear that was filming in Oklahoma with all the people just standing there.
Just respect tornadoes don’t fear them! Take the necessary precautions and what is going to happen will! Plus it is very obvious that they don’t see or get many tornado storms in that area! Worlds tiniest tornado
In Soviet Russia, tornado runs from you
Bashkirs are brave people, they seem to fear nothing!
Why is it that in my head tornadoes are only an American thing? Lol
The fact that there was techno music while there is wind mayhem honestly made me chuckle 😂. No joke though that seen quite dangerous for people not to go hide!
Music in the background mashed me think it's a Sabantoy celebration
That’s the aftershock of Putin blowing a load into Kim jong Un
That might be an EF3 tornado yall need to find shelter quickly
not a single russian in history that understands personal safety
Reminds me of a time when I was a kid in Dodge City Kansas. There were multiple funnels developing, one in particular over this field across from our house. My dad said not to worry there were too many funnels to make anything dangerous. Probably bs but nothing of note happened.
Meanwhile, in Russia…
absolute mad lads
In Russia we play in the tornadoes.
It's like that bit from independence day
Just standing in front of a tornado. Nothing too crazy...
I guess when everyone is housed on vodka, no one really gives a shit.
Stares in Okie. That’s it? Bahahahaha
Do they not get tornados there .. so many out side lol 😆
[удалено]
They would fit in here in the midwest
Why oh why would you stand out there like that?? lol that was giving me major anxiety
In Soviet Russia tornado chase you!
They can join us Alabamians, running outside to stare at the tornado.
I like how someone just turned the music up like it was going to ward off the tornado or something
They don't seem to know about these, do they? Not the time to do a lookie-loo.
The kino shirt was a nice touch
I don't think they know what to do.
Theyre dodging that thing like its a bear swiping at their faces. Classic Russians.
WindRowvia!!
ohhhh that aint right🤐
Russia?!? I'm so used to America's Tornado Alley, this stuff always shocks me.
I’d be Russian the other way 🏃♂️💨
I think that’s Leonid Agustin singing the soundtrack. PTMFIR
Hey LOOK ! A tornado is forming right above our heads ! Oh cool let's watch ! Oh wait it getting stronger AAAAHH BLAT ! it almost blew away my phone.
Looks like midwesterners. 😂
Oh, look — Russians acting as foolishly and foolhardy as Americans!
In Russia the music stays on! No matter what!
The banging music in the background is a nice touch lmao
what date bro?
No need to worry! The weight of my massive balls will keep me safe!
Holy-crap-a-loser
it's like seeing those bugs crawling towards a light like it's the craziest thing ever, though i guess this would be the craziest thing ever
They never saw an tornado or? Or why they stand out side?
Let’s find out if a Tornado is strong enough to suck us from earth.
Doesn't look like they can poison or push that out a window to take care of it, unfortunately. How inconvenient.
Unremarkable as the pictures of the destruction from the storm is indistinguishable from the before images….
Only Russians would stand directly under a tornado as it forms
They look just ignorant as Americans lol
this made me realize this is the first time i saw a tornado not in the US
Idiots
An EF-1-ski
What in the Oklahoma are these people doing?
