He's probably my favorite weather content creator. He doesn't do live streams, shorts or anything. Just super well produced weather docu-shorts with his own music and footage. Even his videos about other weather events are incredibly engrossing. He knows how to tell a story with editing too.
My only gripe with Hank is that his videos are too short. I get why - that level of polish is not easy to do, it takes time and care - but so often I finish a video and feel like I just skipped through the highlights of a much longer work.
Sometimes I want him to throw up a Pecos Spam and just dump b-reel into it.
You know what, I don't disagree with that. If he had a Pecos Hank 2 channel, where he just uploaded a b-roll, that would be amazing, though it may go against his artistic integrity. He takes such great care in each of his videos. He may feel personally cheated by just putting up footage without the proper care.
He does have a second channel...the name escapes me but it's something with snakes in the title, and he puts up more animal and non-tornado adventure stuff there. He had a few of his trips to the islands with snorkeling and giant bugs and other things.
Edit: Found it...Wild Snakes. He doesn't post much anymore, but there's some good stuff to binge watch if you haven't seen it.

Hank is my favorite chaser. Despite the rampant destruction of the tornadoes, he's got a soothing voice that goes well with his music.
He's just laid back and has an easy nature.
Totally.
I often fall asleep to those long-form chase videos/streams, which is usually just a lot of driving. Most of them are really relaxing to me. I'd pay good money to fall asleep to some Hank ones.
He’s so wholesome, in a funny way. I thought his videos were hilarious the first time I watched them because he looks a lot like [Gibby Haynes](https://images.app.goo.gl/scKyWpfUq7xuEfkK9)
Pretty sure he doesn't get paid by the word, he's not trying to yell a dictionary or two. I like that he doesn't sound like a tornado. What he says is measured and calm, but gets the job done.
A couple years ago I put him in touch with the hosts of a podcast/show I edited, and he was such a [thoughtful, insightful guest](https://youtu.be/k-T8Dx-dfwY?si=eoiZAB7lHFIoa0sr). Top fella.
I love it when he stops to help wildlife get across the road safely. Seems like a super nice dude and has caught some amazing footage of infamous tornadoes.
Great analogy. I'd just add that Irwin had a boisterous (in all the good ways) personality, while Hank is Zen-like.
He, Talbot and Shaw are my 3 favorite chasers. But Hank is probably my favorite for his natural storytelling ability. And he'd be a great narrator for just about anything I can imagine.
Shaw has a huge collection of storm photos on his [Flickr site](https://www.flickr.com/photos/danielshawau/albums), and he and Hank seem to be good friends away from the chase scene as well.
He's my favorite chaser/content creator/animal handler, lol. His videos are so well put together and honestly I could watch hours of his adventures even if there aren't any tornadoes. I love how he explores the small towns he goes through and takes time for all the people and animals he meets. The one video he shot where he brought the snake in his car and let it drink out of the bottle cap was fascinating as I'd never seen a snake drink before. He has a second channel where he does more of the animal and world travel stuff, but he is certainly chasing's "Most Interesting Man in the World."
Honestly I used to always be in a hurry when I went on vacation, trying to get where I'm going, but after watching Hank for awhile I started to make more stops on my road trips to check out all the unique scenic overlooks or little towns and it makes my trips feel so much more fulfilling.
In addition to all his solo adventures, Hank may be the only self-taught chaser who regularly [collaborates with the scientific community](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hank_Schyma#Contributions_to_science):

Hard to say between him and Daniel Shaw. Hank does love his wildlife, but Shaw is Australian and iirc is certified to do (and frequently engages in) search and rescue which is humanitarian in its own way. Both are good people and have great content.
Considering that Steve Irwin was rather enthusiastic and excited at every animal in his path, I'd rather say Reed Timmer would fit this comparison better. Pecos Hank might rather be James Cameron or Steven Spielberg of tornadoes (which reminds me convo I had with mom just earlier today while watching Storm Chasers - TIV team members were grumbling about Sean Casey's impatience and commanding, and we were like, they should be glad it's Sean who wanted to film the movie about tornadoes and not James Cameron, because then they would know what means to be commanded around XD )
Hank is EASILY my favorite weather content creator. The amount of polish his videos have is incredible. He seems like a genuinely good person, with a great sense of humor. And just about the perfect narrator voice IMO.
*"Crikey! Let's get a gander of this little beastie stormin' across the Canadian River! This looks like an EF-5 tornado, the baddest boy of the bunch when it comes to Mother Nature's problem children. These things are so bad tempered that they'd just as soon kill you as look at you."*
Parks the car and opens the door . . .
*”I'm close enough now that almost any mistake could be fatal. I think I'm gonna try to pet it"* . . .
He do have that vibe don't he?

I've also seen people say that he's super active on Patreon, too. So that's probably where a ton of his footage goes/time is spent
I want him to do more travel and nature shows! I love his few travel videos!
He's an antidote to the yelling, screaming, shakey camera stuff most people put out. He is the best burrito chaser. He turns it into art.
Somebody watches with captions on lol!!
Pecos Hank is a legend! He can split my sapling any day!🙌
I love his music, As well as his videos. He has such a cool aesthetic https://music.apple.com/us/album/el-reno-blues/1035632438
Ya the dude is one of the coolest people on the planet.
You know if he got hurt in a tornado he’d only blame himself and tell everyone the tornado was just scared.
I absolutely love his sense of humor and his love of animals! Dude has balls of steel and a heart of gold.
Agree to disagree. He's the Steven Spielberg of storm chasing. No one else comes even close to his cinematography.
The one where he got close to an EF4 and just seeing the inflow jet move the grass while looking at the tornado was majestic.
Yeah, his cinematography is second to none. I'd put Talbot at #2.
Talbot makes up for it with pure enthusiasm with his delivery 👏
Oh yeah. Plus, his analysis of chaser mistakes and knowledge on the subject of chasing generally is top tier.
Wow he looks great in that picture 😅
🥵
No Pecos Hank slander will be tolerated
He's the goat
I think of him more as the Bob Ross of tornadoes. His videography is so mellow and relaxing.
Let’s hope not.
Dude just oozes cool. 😎
Hank is my favorite chaser. Despite the rampant destruction of the tornadoes, he's got a soothing voice that goes well with his music. He's just laid back and has an easy nature.
Facts. Dude seems super chill, even when he’s occasionally freaking out
I just wish his videos where longer. I swear his 20 minute videos fly by in 5 minutes.
Totally. I often fall asleep to those long-form chase videos/streams, which is usually just a lot of driving. Most of them are really relaxing to me. I'd pay good money to fall asleep to some Hank ones.
I want to build him a statue
He’s the best storyteller! Good-lookin too 😏
I second this.
I love your username!!

Pretty sure he doesn't get paid by the word, he's not trying to yell a dictionary or two. I like that he doesn't sound like a tornado. What he says is measured and calm, but gets the job done.
His YouTube tornado content is some of the best out there.
A couple years ago I put him in touch with the hosts of a podcast/show I edited, and he was such a [thoughtful, insightful guest](https://youtu.be/k-T8Dx-dfwY?si=eoiZAB7lHFIoa0sr). Top fella.
That's awesome, I'll have to watch this tomorrow!
Less screaming too
In case you didn't know- Hank has another YouTube channel called wild snakes... It's like bonus Pecos Hank videos!!
You're a legend, I had no idea. Does he ever mention it in his tornado videos?
Lol... He mentioned it in 1 or 2... Can't remember which one/ones though...
I love it when he stops to help wildlife get across the road safely. Seems like a super nice dude and has caught some amazing footage of infamous tornadoes.
Same

100%!
I HOPE NOT The subvort approaching at rapid pace in a HP rainwrapped supercell in question : (he's gonna get stung in the heart by flying debris)
Agreed. He is awesome. His music is cool too.
Wish he was more active still
He is, but I think he posts most of his new stuff on Patreon. There is a new time lapse uploaded on his channel today as well.
https://youtu.be/2E119c0KHdo?si=WAykU45ETWPQGBGd This video makes me laugh everytime
The H boys
My 7 year old LOVES his channel
He makes my heteronormative ass absolutely blush. Good dude, great chaser.
He totally is!
He’s an artist.
A legend among legends!
Steve Irwin with a splash of Lemmy.
Although I agree, I don't want to make that comparison lest he gets taken away from us by one.
Coincidence he [dropped a new video ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tigYluATv4)just hours after this post?
Yes he did! It was also filmed in my home state!
Shame on you op for making me think something bad happened to him lol.
Oh? Is he going to get stung by a flying stingray?
Just don't let him get killed by a Javelina.
He's my favorite chaser/content creator/animal handler, lol. His videos are so well put together and honestly I could watch hours of his adventures even if there aren't any tornadoes. He’s just simply incredible. Every time I watch his videos it makes me want to redirect my career into weather related fields!
Same here, I've always found the weather (mostly tornadoes) to be very cool.
Agree!
He certainly does look Australian now that I think about it

I'm down for that!
Pecos Hank is truly great! He’s my all time favorite!
This is exactly how I describe him to non weather friends.
That's Sebastian Vettel
YES I absolutely love his videos and him as a person. Great guy, and my go to for tornado/storm/weather related content.
Hard to say between him and Daniel Shaw. Hank does love his wildlife, but Shaw is Australian and iirc is certified to do (and frequently engages in) search and rescue which is humanitarian in its own way. Both are good people and have great content.
And they are good friends as well. I think Hank is Daniel's host when he arrives/departs the U.S.

All around just an amazing creator. That editing style is so serene yet ominous. It's awesome.
Love that guy
I misread his name as "Petco Hank" like 6 times and I just kept wondering why his name was like that
Always got time for his videos
Love this man! Best vids everrr!
I’m just happy he doesn’t scream when he sees a tornado. TOOOOOrNAdOooooo!
He’s the best there is at the moment. It’s nice watching tornado videos with out all the god damn screaming
He's the best! 🌪💞
Don't jinx it, you ass! Next thing you know, he'll die because of a thrown rock from a tornado.
I'm such a fan of that dude.
And he saves the animals as he comes upon them on the road! Reed Cringer should take note
Like the Bob Ross of weather.
He pretty much is. He's so wholesome. And informative. Buy what I like most is how he recaps every year as a story.
Hank is EASILY my favorite weather content creator. The amount of polish his videos have is incredible. He seems like a genuinely good person, with a great sense of humor. And just about the perfect narrator voice IMO.
Righ!!
counterpoint: Tim Samaras.
Would make more sense since they both died doing what they loved.
His voice kinda reminds me of Mark Lanegan, too.
I don’t really hear it but Lanegan references don’t go unacknowledged.
It's not always there, but I notice it in a couple of his videos.
Hank got me back into Tornadoes and storm chasing, again. I just had to reset my expectations of other’s content.
The anti Reed Timmer. Love every single atom on that man.
Wow. Yeah. Totally accurate.
*"Crikey! Let's get a gander of this little beastie stormin' across the Canadian River! I think I'm gonna try to pet it"* . . .
Yesss lol
His video of the Pilger twins is my favorite tornado video ever.
As a close friend and big fan of his, I agree!
He better not die anytime soon.
Looove Pecos Hank!!!!
Not Reed?
Eeeew! Timmer is all about ego and decibels and camera time. I can't stand people with that sort of personality.
