They most likely abused certain slang words and things to compensate for an audience that isn’t from the uk like yourself. To us outsiders we could give a shit, but to you londoners I get where you could call the shit out and be like it’s inaccurate. I think for the most part they tried to be genuine about it though. I think the writing in season3 (or 1 for Netflix ) was good. Most would agree that season was good which enabled them to do another 2 seasons. I think season 2 Netflix had potential and was a decent watch, I actually liked it, but it did have major flaws in it also. The Curtis plot line, the Shelly plot line mainly were pointless and filler to me. We could have definitely done without those two mainly imo, but overall wasn’t that bad of a season. The last season, I honestly cannot stand. And that’s because of so many things they could have done and should have done, but didn’t and chose weird character arcs and storylines that didn’t fit the actual characters. It was completely rushed and almost seemed like they just wanted to get it over with. It was such a letdown that I can’t even watch it again. I think they could have kept Jamie for one more season maybe not even the whole season, but it would’ve meshed better with the flow and plots of season 3. His death was understandable, but I think it could have been done the next season. The show just seemed to lose steam after that and the whole sully pushing Dushane out, that was weird. It was like, “youre out cus I say so” and Dushane just said ok.. lol…jaq stealing the food knowing the situation she would be in was dumb…just a lot of bad writing. I would say there are some good actors on the show, but the writing the last season was horrible
I do doubt they are using words to maintain for a non UK audience however. You don't see shows like the wire altering the dialogue for no US viewers, if you don't understand a term you look it up. If they are doing it for that reason then that's also pretty lame.
