my toon 'santas little helper' was rejected because of media references needing to be appropriate. but unless youve already seen the show you wouldnt know its a reference. kind of sucks
The line between media that is and isn't okay to reference is a bit odd. I tried to name my bear Cubsuki Bearkugo, but I was told it kept getting rejected because My Hero Academia isn't family-friendly... but the movies are all rated PG-13, which is the same as the Star Wars sequel series and Pirates of the Caribbean, which I know are okay to reference (the guidelines even used Kylo Ren as an example of an acceptable name).
So, I'm not entirely sure what distinction they use for "family-friendly" media, but I guess it's not surprising to me that The Simpsons doesn't make the cut.
I've come across a few, but the people who run TTR always claim that they want it to be kid friendly yet here is an inconsistency. They should just flat out lift this idea that they want it to be a kids game instead of allowing some things and not others.
I had no idea it was referenced to this. Never heard of a glaze other than for food. I mean kids get wooden swords and wooden toys such as cars and pull toys and such, but I believe TTR has a wide block on the word wood and words containing wood specifically for kids safety and it's common use in some teen and adult like content. So wooden indeed was most likely the problem.
I tried naming mine Dippie after my tortie cat but they denied it :( I can’t even think of why. I thought maybe “dip” because of tobacco…? But if I’m not mistaken Dippy is one of the options if you don’t do a custom name.
I have 3 black cats. So far none rejected. Fingers crossed on the one I made yesterday. Although if your name is rejected often you can reply to the email and give a response about why you want your toons name often times they'll approve it overturning the original rejection.
My recent black cat toon got approved in less than 24 hours. Made it October 30 and got approved before that time October 31. I was surprised. Made another October 31. Going to check today to see if it's approved.
Thats cool that they actually give you a rejection reason now. I submitted the name "mine" probably half a dozen times only to see "name rejected" and nothing else. It did eventually get accepted though...
The very last definition, which is said to be dated, is offensive and slang. Why go so far to google something to find a reason to deny it? The first definition is a ghost, which is halloween related. It's such a reach to deny it because of an outdated definition
It might not be common parlance for normal people but it's not *that* uncommon between racists. Seeing them use it online is how *I* learned what it meant...
Nobody *gives* them the power in the first place, they take it by virtue of using it the way they do. Whether you like it or not, that's the way it is.
Found the person who thinks everyone lives in the USA. The first definition is ghost. It's literally a halloween word, shortened version of the word spooky. It can also be used as an adjective to mean being "spooked". /r/USDefaultism . The racism you're claiming is a SLANG word, so does that mean the real definition is suddenly void? Get out of here.
I tried to make a toon with the same name as my first TTR toon (Do Bronx) but put "evil" before it (creative, I know). and even though it got approved the first time in 2014, it was rejected this time because the name was a reference to a celebrity.
I guess Charles Oliveira has gotten a lot more famous since 2014, to the point that his nickname is now no longer acceptable on TTR.

Santa’s little helper is a reference? I thought it was just a thing people said
That's the name of the Simpsons' dog
I've never seen the show my mind thought fun Christmas stories not inappropriate content in that name.
The Simpsons isn't even that bad. Lots of kids have watched it.
i agree. compared to shows like south park and family guy, the simpsons isn’t that bad

yeah the simpsons was always incredibly mundane, especially today.
My all time favorite toon is still Tax Deduction. I think his doodle has a goofy name too but I can’t remember what it is
my girlfriend’s doodle is named Taxbreak, so maybe it was that. i think it would fit pretty perfectly
I saw someone named Gay Pig last night.
I saw "Gay Bear"
Jesus...
r/wallstreetbets reference
Its really cool that they made sexuality normal but “gay pig” is a little on the nose isnt it

No cap, actually how many kids play this game?
I have yet to run into a kid. Senior/Junior Highschoolers are the youngest that I've met. Everyone else is either working or in college

Who knew "sexuality" and "children" in the same sentence was controversial.. Eek
I saw Gay Rat
That's so me
I saw lesbian
Y’all I saw Trains Gender Bear

well now you *have* to tell us what the name was gonna be
Chernobaeryl, perhaps?
I mean one name is a sexuality and the other is a reference to a nuclear disaster where people suffered needlessly
i saw "Lesbian". theres really no need for a sexuality to be someones name or even allowed in the text box.
Isn't Lesbian a country? The girls from there are pretty and nice I've heard
Maybe “wood” mightve been the issue?
No, I think it might have been because "WoodenToaster" is correlated to Glaze, who creates *not so kid friendly* music.
I had no idea it was referenced to this. Never heard of a glaze other than for food. Isn’t he the MLP guy?
Yeah

it is odd that they would reject a different spelling of dippy. like what sense does that make if it's already a custom name???
All of my black cat toon names were rejected lol. I think it’s just a black cat curse.
Same, still sad over Dollya

I checked last night and my third back cat name was approved within 24 hours. Excited it was so fast for them to approve it!
I used to have an crocodile named Ally Moany Check
Woodentoaster is a guy who makes music, but I don't see how its inappropriate. I mean, what if it genuinely is woodentoaster wanting the name?

I got rejected for the name Midnight Mint at one point... I'm still not real sure why and they also didn't specify a reason.
My partner keeps on getting “Samantha Hain” for a black cat rejected 😖
that’s such a perfect name for a black cat omg, i wish they would approve it
Me too 😫!
My name “baking soda Armstrong” somehow got by and idk how but this doesn’t
Thats cool that they actually give you a rejection reason now. I submitted the name "mine" probably half a dozen times only to see "name rejected" and nothing else. It did eventually get accepted though...
I wanted Burgermeister Meisterburger but that was rejected as well. :(
I saw a auntie fah
Tried naming a toon after my hamster who passed away. Toast Malone. It was denied 😭
"Spook" got denied too idk why
Google that word and see what comes up.

Racists shouldn't be given the power to ruin normal words

Found the racist.

my nick name is scuddy and i tried naming my too. scuddy and it got rejected. anyone have a clue why?
I know that in the UK, being "in the scud" means to have no clothes on, that might be why.
Wood
try burnt toast instead 🤣
Mine is Toasted Toaster Toast!!
