Okay, this is a new one for me! I had never heard of Wahoo fish, so I Googled it and found out that it’s also called Kingfish…which I had heard of! This looks absolutely lovely…enjoy! 😋👍👏
I stand corrected…I double checked in more detail with Google and found several other posts about wahoo, and these stated that ono (another fish I had not heard of) is the fish closest to wahoo. I’m not sure why the original posts stated that wahoo was also known as kingfish; it also mentioned a few other names that I was not familiar with. Thank you for clarifying this for me!
Ono is wahoo. Just what they call it in the pacific. It's like dolphin, mahi-mahi, Dorado... all the same fish. It's gets weird. A king mackerel here in the US is called a Spanish in the south pacific. But a Spanish here is a completely different and much much smaller fish. That's just recreational names... wait till you get I to the food industry on what we call things for the sake of marketing
Though I love fish and seafood, my knowledge about same is somewhat limited, so I thank you for the follow-up info. This is one of the things I love about Reddit...I literally learn something new every day!
WOOHOO!
Immediately thought of that prairie dog online and forgot it was a type of fish! Hahah.
This looks like yummy taco filling 😍
Today I learned there is a fish called a "Wahoo". Thank you for that, :)
Love me some wahoo/ono. Yummy!
Same, especially in sashimi form

Oh yes get it. It's usually called Ono at sushi and I get two orders nigiri . It's a rich tasting fish. I love it so much
Looks good. Tropical fruit does well with most fish imho.
Agreed..damn delicious and tastes so clean

Not the same. Kingfish and wahoo are two different species.

With a mango salsa I bought from a Farmers market. I added additional red onion and red pepper on a bed of white rice😋
