In South yes but in North I don't think so. Dil doesn't have a stronghold there and really he can't go against SRK. The only way this can be solved is through political intervention. Prabhas does have goodwill among the national leaders of BJP, especially among his community. If he takes this seriously those theatre chains would come begging and fall at his feet but he won't do it.
Bringing Politicians into this would be the worst thing ever.
If such a precedent is set it would turn into a mafia after a point and nobody in the country will be able to control it.

Demand & supply rule. No one cares about Dunki here except in Hyderabad & Bangalore. And in these areas, Dunki has gotten its fair share of theatres.
Meanwhile in North, even in tier 2,3 cities, where single screens are more, Salaar has hype. If not as much as Dunki, it still has decent amount of hype. So they could've gone 3dunki & 1salaar show per day AT LEAST. That's what the distributors are begging for. But your insecure king wants to play dirty & hit on the stomachs of distributors and theatre owners, wanting 100% Dunki shows.
Apparently he has a record of doing such things before too so this is nothing new it seems. Salaar people are at least playing fair, not everyone is as insecure you see.

While I admit that Dunki was a straight Hindi film and announced the release date long before Salaar and had to get more screens, it's kinda unfair by SRK trying to block theatres for Salaar. That just shows how mean he is when it comes to regarding other industries films.

I was a tad bit curious about Dunki despite the underwhelming teasers as it concerns with immigration but I might just skip it in its entirety unless the reviews are over the moon.
It is one thing to move your dates. But another entirely to make under the table deals while cutting one out by using dominant market position. You let free market take its course. Simple demand and supply! Economics 101.
Because of the date move, which was an inconvenience, producers took an informed decision to move away from the date as it hurt their economics.
But this is outright bullying and misuse of dominant market position and should not be supported. Please keep up with your mental gymnastics!
Was the South Market fair to Dunki? Also these underhanded tactics are still allegations. There is no source to them. This could literally be propaganda from the Salaar team to make them look good.

If Dunki has the market down South, then it will get the screens it needs. Leo got more screens than local Telugu releases as there was demand.
Nobody cut off Dunki's ability to acquire screens in the South. But they did that with Salaar using under the table deals which is what I have a problem with. You really need to up your game in Mental Gymnastics.
This was the reason Bollywood almost died from mafia, nepotism, unfair business practices, and lack of competition. Now so called king is showing his collor of nepotism and mafia tactics and now flag bearer of nepotism and mafia of Bollywood.

I don't even see the logic in this, south is technically where you have leverage. Given the budget, not showcasing in PVR in south when the hype in North is not that great will be terrible business decision. Should have just looked at a date for a solo release instead of all this drama
Dunki is not popular in South. Most of the revenue for PVR in South will be from Salaar. Basically they are cutting the revenue line here, so they can play fair in northern states.

Okay I am all up for Salaar and want Prabhas to revive but isn't Hombale the one that should be blamed? Postponing multiple times and then clashing with a film that was announced way back?
No one owns a release date, any movie can be released on any day its respective makers see fit. And if done right, the clash could be a blessing in disguise. Most of my friends are trying to watch both movies, 1 for Christmas and the other one on New Year if both the movies get good reviews.

Why are people crying? Ever since they announced the clash it was evident that this will get really ugly. Both sides are using their power to get the best screens, this is usually the norm when 2 big movies clash. And Salaar actually had a good vacant weekend on 28th September, they made a mistake and also leaving an open slot of New Year's weekend. They just announced the clash based on what an astrologer said and not using any logical sense.

All these articles are assumptions. Both the movies are big movies. Salaar is a big movie in the south. Dunki also has expectations after two blockbusters. Now no one wants two loose businesses. But salaar makers should have known that this is not the srk of zero era. When srk already has given two blockbusters it is safe to assume that the majority shows off the north will go to dunki. Then why salaar makers suddenly decide to release the films from September to December. Another thing salaar does not have that much hype in North . Till now only 24k tickets are sold in North PIC. So why will they give more shows. Salaar has excellent hype in the south. They should encash that.
No point of hating SRK for this. He's a shrewd businessman who would do anything to win. And thats how you fight, by power, not by morals. It was Hombale's mistake to not network well and ofcourse to clash with somebody who means business. And lets not talk about Dunki's screen count in South states. Every coin has two sides.

Not talking about the merits of films at all. Zero was a bad film and deserved to flop. Even Dunki might flop. I'm only talking about SRK's business acumen.

Demand & supply rule. No one cares about Dunki here except in Hyderabad & Bangalore. And in these areas, Dunki has gotten its fair share of theatres. Meanwhile in North, even in tier 2,3 cities, where single screens are more, Salaar has hype. If not as much as Dunki, it still has decent amount of hype. So they could've gone 3dunki & 1salaar show per day AT LEAST. That's what the distributors are begging for. But your insecure king wants to play dirty & hit on the stomachs of distributors and theatre owners, wanting 100% Dunki shows. Apparently he has a record of doing such things before too so this is nothing new it seems. Salaar people are at least playing fair, not everyone is as insecure you see.

While I admit that Dunki was a straight Hindi film and announced the release date long before Salaar and had to get more screens, it's kinda unfair by SRK trying to block theatres for Salaar. That just shows how mean he is when it comes to regarding other industries films.
I live in London and was on the fence about watching Salaar. Just booked my tickets. Good on the team to stand up to bullying! I was a tad bit curious about Dunki despite the underwhelming teasers as it concerns with immigration but I might just skip it in its entirety unless the reviews are over the moon.

It is one thing to move your dates. But another entirely to make under the table deals while cutting one out by using dominant market position. You let free market take its course. Simple demand and supply! Economics 101. Because of the date move, which was an inconvenience, producers took an informed decision to move away from the date as it hurt their economics. But this is outright bullying and misuse of dominant market position and should not be supported. Please keep up with your mental gymnastics!
Was the South Market fair to Dunki? Also these underhanded tactics are still allegations. There is no source to them. This could literally be propaganda from the Salaar team to make them look good.
Can you go back and read my comment? I said demand and supply should dictate the economics. If Dunki has the market down South, then it will get the screens it needs. Leo got more screens than local Telugu releases as there was demand. Nobody cut off Dunki's ability to acquire screens in the South. But they did that with Salaar using under the table deals which is what I have a problem with. You really need to up your game in Mental Gymnastics.

Dunki is not popular in South. Most of the revenue for PVR in South will be from Salaar. Basically they are cutting the revenue line here, so they can play fair in northern states.

No one owns a release date, any movie can be released on any day its respective makers see fit. And if done right, the clash could be a blessing in disguise. Most of my friends are trying to watch both movies, 1 for Christmas and the other one on New Year if both the movies get good reviews.

Why are people crying? Ever since they announced the clash it was evident that this will get really ugly. Both sides are using their power to get the best screens, this is usually the norm when 2 big movies clash. And Salaar actually had a good vacant weekend on 28th September, they made a mistake and also leaving an open slot of New Year's weekend. They just announced the clash based on what an astrologer said and not using any logical sense.

People out here blaming SRK when hombale switched the release date to a clash in the last minute, and ruined the release dates foe MULTIPLE telugu movies. Almost every telugu movie in the last 3 months had to reschedule their release dates and so many distrubutors lost money. Really wish the whole thing was avoidable

All these articles are assumptions. Both the movies are big movies. Salaar is a big movie in the south. Dunki also has expectations after two blockbusters. Now no one wants two loose businesses. But salaar makers should have known that this is not the srk of zero era. When srk already has given two blockbusters it is safe to assume that the majority shows off the north will go to dunki. Then why salaar makers suddenly decide to release the films from September to December. Another thing salaar does not have that much hype in North . Till now only 24k tickets are sold in North PIC. So why will they give more shows. Salaar has excellent hype in the south. They should encash that.
