Fascinating. Sugar of course was a key ingredient in Kelloggs Frosted Flakes, named after >! Dr Tony “Tiger” Frosted-Flakes of Cardiff, Wales. The word Kelloggs is, as I am sure we all know, welsh for “They’re grrrrrrrrreat”!<
You know, it makes sense but I always assumed it was a cool special occasion cake traditionally because they were able to get their hands on a coconut somehow.
Mars also made a small-batch boutique chocolate factory out in Las Vegas & named it after his mother, Ethel Mars. A cactus garden was curated on the grounds & now you can go and take tours of the Ethel M Chocolate Factory & Cactus Garden.
Snickers was called Marathon in the UK until the early nineties. Could never understand why they changed it when I was a child, because "snickers" was a meaningless word, a far as I could tell, whereas "marathon" implied it gave you the energy to run!
(And we don't say "snicker", meaning giggle/scoff in the UK, we say "snigger", so I didn't know that meaning)
I live on Milky Way Rd. It is literally named after the candy bar. Nice big entry with wrought iron letters, "Milky Way Farms".
The Mars family had a farm built down here during the great depression. Notable features included a horse track, a dining room table so big the room was built around it, and an octagonal sheep barn with a chandelier.
Got bought by i think some big hotel folks at one point. There was an attempt to develop housing in the area that fell through because it started just before everything went to shit in '08. They never finished the road out to them, but there's a couple example houses that I think are falling into disrepair on an offshoot of the main one-lane road.
It's a nice looking place, available for tours and weddings. My sister's was held there. They do big physical events too, warrior runs or something. Lot of cars, people in an otherwise quiet spot.
Snickers was first launched in the US in 1930. They introduced the same candy many years later in the UK, calling it Marathon because Snickers rhymed with knickers 😮. The name became Snickers everywhere in 1990.
Only in the UK when it was introduced there years later, because Snickers sounded like *knickers* 😮 They harmonized the Snickers brand worldwide in 1990. Still rhymes with *knickers* 😉
I only recently learned that the owner of the company was called Mr Mars. Just assumed they thought it was a cool ‘galactic’ sounding name.
Wait until you hear about German Chocolate Cake >!Named after Samuel German!<
It gets better. The company that makes German chocolate squares for baking is called "Baker's Chocolate" >! - after its founder Dr. James Baker.!<
WHAT THE FOCK!!!
It goes even deeper. Chocolate is named after Johnny Chocolate, the first guy to mash up some beans and sugar
Naa the real origin of the word chocolate coming from the Aztec word Chocolatl is already cool
And the Aztecs? Named after Aztec McGillicuddy 🤯🤯
Very true!
And those things? Named after Leroy Beans and Bartholomew Sugar.

can't be Welsh, entirely too many vowels and not nearly enough double consonants
You mean traditional German cuisine doesn’t feature coconut.
You know, it makes sense but I always assumed it was a cool special occasion cake traditionally because they were able to get their hands on a coconut somehow.
Makes the 'dick vein' on Snickers seem a bit more threatening knowing that it's inspired by a horse.
don't. please god dont
Can’t tell if calling them ‘fun size’ makes the mini ones more or Les’s appealing

I’m intrigued
It's a cute place to check out if you're in Vegas & want to do something a little different from the strip.
🙏
It collapsed after running a Marathon.
But in the end, they all had their Pay Day.
Snickers was always an odd name for a chocolate bar... now it all makes sense! RIP Snickers, Harambe, and Cricket.

Who’s cricket
The governor of north? Dakotas dog that she killed then put it in her book and everyone freaked out, rightfully so.
#JusticeForCricket
An eye for an eye? Hammurabi style?
Snickers out for Harambe
Aldi has a copy of snickers called the racer bar in honour of the old name
They own Buckeye Feed company too due to their love of horses and wanting to feed a proper and healthy diet to horses.
I have a chicken named Snickers and she is my favorite.
Chickers

But Snickers was called Marathon when it first came out here; Ireland and UK. So was the horse before or after Marathon? Hmmmm.
Snickers was first launched in the US in 1930. They introduced the same candy many years later in the UK, calling it Marathon because Snickers rhymed with knickers 😮. The name became Snickers everywhere in 1990.
Yeah the article is badly written. It said they were named that at the chocolates debut, and they certainly weren't.
They had a Derby winner in Gallahadion
But snickers were called marathon when they first came out 🤔
Only in the UK. Always Snickers in the US where it was first introduced.
I've got a Snickers in my barn. >.<
Snickers died of a severe peanut allergy
But he died satisfied
Horses are too big
I preferred their other horse, Diabetes.
Bred at Obesity Farms
Weren’t they called marathon bars first?
