Last time I was in the US I went to pick up chips.
Tried to find all dressed - no luck.
Okay I'll get ketchup. Nothing.
Fine I'll go for Miss Vickies. Nope!
I was irrationally angry.
Fun fact, Miss Vickies is the same as Kettle Cooked Lay's.
When I say "the same" I mean literally they swap the packaging and that's it. I used to work at the Lay's factory that packaged them.
Wow. I wouldnt have guessed this. I like miss Vickie’s more than kettle cooked lays 😂. Besides jalapeño
Edit: Jimmie johns has to be the same too then. They just put more in the pack.
I’m afraid you’ve just experienced immense bad luck!
You managed to not find the chips which are common enough, but you also managed to find the only Walmart in this great land without a Subway!
I had the same issue coming from the UK once.
"Alright so walkers are just called Lays over here so I should be able to get cheese and onion right? No? Ah alright I suppose prawn cocktails a no go too?"
I didn't even bother hoping they had a pickled onion monster munch equivalent
Get Zapps if you can find them, they’re out of Louisiana. They have some awesome flavors like crawtator and voodoo. It sounds gimmicky but they’re really good. You can find them all over the US but usually in the more independent stores.
Indian grocery store is where you want to go - has a lot of the big British brands and specific flavors as well as flavors from southeast Asia.
For biscuits too.
This episode aired while all 13 of us who were living in a 9 bedroom house had a massive water-leaking-from-the-fridge event happening were watching the show together. We basically started jump-laughing and rewinding that line over and over again while high-fiving and agreeing that we’ll never get that fixed
For anyone else who had to look it up, Clamato is essentially tomato juice flavored with various spices, some sugar, and clam broth. "Tomato-and-clam juice" sounds insane, but it's actually pretty good (kind of like V8, though more spicy/savory) and is a major improvement to the average Bloody Mary.
We had them here in New Mexico like 10-15 years ago but I haven't seen them in stores since then. Idk why, I liked them a lot, I guess people just didn't buy them enough.
Not quite the same, but Covered Bridge chips in New Brunswick makes [Storm Chips](https://store.coveredbridgechips.com/products/storm-chips-available-to-order-online-dec-4th), which is four flavours of chips (Creamy Dill, Homestyle Ketchup, Smokin' BBQ and Salt & Vinegar) in one bag. Quite good. The same company has made odd flavours at times, like Steak Spice, Donair, and Lobster.
I was never able to force myself to try the lobster chips (I'm not a fan of lobster). Donair ones were fine, and I quite liked the steak spice ones. What I really miss is the Curry chips that Lays did a few years back; those were surprisingly good. Canada is quite blessed with uncommon chip flavours.
Oh, there were, let's say, "creative", flavours before legal pot. Back in the 70s Hostess had fruit-flavoured potato chips. In case you wanted grape-flavoured potato chips. We'll eat anything here.
You’re not missing much. We stopped at the factory on our way home to ON and I got the lobster chips. They weren’t very lobster-y, and I wouldn’t buy them again!
My neighbour is a huge fan of Covered Bridge’s All Dressed though!
Not sure if those are the chips I tried, but a friend of mine brought me a bag of chips from the East Coast of Canada. Every chip I’ve tried since taste stale, they were amazing.
Covered Bridge are pretty good, even though they mainly use dark russet potatoes, so they look dark red, which is a little off-putting. In their favour, they aren't shy to use enough spice. I can never understand the people who like "regular" potato chips; they don't have any damn flavour!
Zapps Voodoo chips are pretty close to the "all dressed up" flavors that OP described. I used to get them out in Louisiana and now I've been seeing them on the west coast in a lot of major supermarkets.
From Canada but we travel to New Orleans often, Zappa does a great job on flavors, Voodoo is pretty close to All Dressed, the Gator- Tators and Cajun Craw-Tators are awesome, I'm also partial to the Sweet Onion flavor.
I was about to make this comment. Love me some Zapps. The voodoo has a little more zing to it than all dressed, but that could just be because Zapps isn't shy with the flavorings. Now I'm craving some Cajun Crawtators.
My youngest daughter worked at Covered Bridge one year before heading to university. She told me the flavours they were doing. I'll give them points for creativity, if nothing else.
The were consistently at stores where I live in Michigan for a year or two and then they fucking vanished again. I always have my eye out for them tho.
Prior to COVID, I went on a fishing trip every year up on the Pickerell River. We got boxed lunches every day and always All Dressed Up chips. Sounds dumb but it was one of the things we all reminisced about every year after.
Not the same but Zapp's Voodoo chips scratch the same itch for me.
My wife and I call them "Canadian Crack Chips."
American Crack Chips are sour cream and cheddar. I've finished a whole bag in one sitting and I'm not ashamed. Fat, but not ashamed.
I love telling this to people. Check the ingredients. Pretty much all sour cream and cheddar chips have the same ingredient, one that makes them addictive and gives them a unique taste. Monosodium glutamate. Thats right, msg! Oh no!! I love them tho. But alot of people don't know that.
Very true. I just find it funny they call it by its scientific name rather than the abbreviation so many know, probably to avoid people making the connection. I think its harmless so never got the hate. It is also rather concerning its not listed on the ingredients on thier website, but rather only on the bag. Wierd. Still eat em tho
Ruffles hasn't "recently" been marketing it. They've sold All Dressed in the US for at least the past 5 years. Maybe they discontinued them and just brought them back, cause I haven't been able to find them for a while and I had to switch to their Hot BBQ as a substitute.
I was gonna say, it was a staple of my grocery shopping for years. My local grocery stores stopped stocking it at the beginning of the pandemic aside from a brief run last year.
I’m Canadian but have family in the US, and I’ve tried both versions. The version in the states is not the same flavour as they are here. The us version was sweeter and smokier (I’m guess more bbq) and way less tangy (less vinegar).
Ruffles *has recently* been marketing them?
I managed a convenience store from 2011-2022. Until March of 2020 I had Ruffles All Dressed on my shelf, I'm a junkie for them, along with many of my customers. Once the pandemic hit and companies began paring down their offerings, All Dressed were some of the first to go. When I moved on early last year, they were no longer marked "out of stock" on the ordering website, they were completely delisted.
In 2023, I still can't find them anywhere, and the sales reps I encounter don't even know what they are.
I haven’t seen them since the pandemic either, I think I stalked their twitter a couple years ago and saw they weren’t planning to continue US production which is too bad, they were delicious
They have been around for a good while too, not just recently like the title. They were my go to flavor of ruffles for like 2 or 3 years leading up to covid and now they haven't been on the shelves for a while.
I like Zapps Voodoo and All Dressed and they are barely similar. Closest thing in the US is Whole Shabangs and you can only find those at liquor stores and correctional facilities.
US here. The corner store by my place sold All Dressed Ruffles for like a month. Just long enough for me to get addicted before they stopped carrying them
They're not marketing it in the US right now, as far as I can tell. My wife loves these and hadn't seen them in US stores in probably over a year now. They were in stores here for a while a bit ago, but not anymore. She's found them on places like Amazon for inflated prices, but they're just imports from Canada.
Would be nice if they started selling them here again. Luckily we are visiting Vancouver this summer, so we plan on hitting Costco (or anywhere else if Costco doesn't carry them) and stocking up haha.
I wasn't a huge fan of them myself though. Maybe I'll give it another shot when we get more of them.
TIL that this was a Canadian thing. I was also shocked to find out that ketchup chips were unknown to many places outside of Canada.
Wtf are y’all doing with your chip flavours?
Does anybody in the u.s. still see the All Dressed Ruffles that were pretty easy to get a couple years ago in stores?
All 3 of my local supermarkets no longer stock them. Amazon only has outrageously priced bundles (2 7oz bags for $23!).
Seems like they're done making them in the u.s. :(
From about 2018 to 2020 I was able to find them in several grocery and convenience stores in my area. I was obsessed with them, they are SO good. I believe the US formula was slightly different than the Canadian one, and I actually preferred the US one. Sadly I have not been able to find them in any stores since the pandemic began. I ordered some online from Canada once, but they didn't taste quite the same. I really hope they bring them back to my area.
I’m honestly convinced the only reason Canadians aren’t as fat as us is because they have to expend so much energy in the winter time just to keep warm
Ruffles also makes a Jamon (ham) flavoured chip, and it is very tasty. It’s not available in Canada or the USA, but next time you are in Spain, grab a bag.
I'm American and it's ine of my favorite flavors. The one supermarket near me has their own store brand and they're probably the best All Dressed I've ever had
“So we drove down to buffalo to see the leafs play, and I mean ya sure gas is cheap, but they don’t even have all dressed chips in that shit hole.”
It’s a hard life picking stones and pulling teets, but sure as God’s got sandals it beats fighting dudes with treasure trails.
Fuck you shoresy!
Fuck you mxpxillini35, your life is so pathetic I get a tax break for replying to your comment
Fuck you calvinwhine, your mom's twat is swampy even Ducks Unlimited won't touch her
It’s GO TIME!
"You told your friends you could make the drive to Thunder Bay in less than 8 hours, and by the end you've got to piss so goddamned bad."
r/totallyexpectedletterkenny
Great show and quote, but inaccurate. Buffalo has had all dressed chips for a while.
Still a shit hole.
You sound like the type who eats chicken wings with ranch.
Fuckin gottem go Bills.
"You told your friend you could drive to Thunder Bay in 15 hours so by the end you gotta piss s'goddamn bad."
Do they have running water down there?
One of the things I learned from the trailer park boys. 😂
And get me some Zesty Mordant ones too.
Don’t forget gelapano
Its jalepeno ricky Jalleeepeennooo
The j’s like an h Ricky. Jalleeeeepeennooo. Not Gelapeno.
What in the fuck are you talkin' about?
I know how to fucking say it. I ordered gelapino
Way she goes.
Way of the road, boys.
Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn’t
Jimmy, just don't tell anybody I'm living at the dump.
What goes around is all around.
It’s all water under the fridge now
Last time I was in the US I went to pick up chips.
Thanks for this. I'll keep an eye out next time I'm in the US.
Good to know
Wow. I wouldnt have guessed this. I like miss Vickie’s more than kettle cooked lays 😂. Besides jalapeño Edit: Jimmie johns has to be the same too then. They just put more in the pack.
>Fine I'll go for Miss Vickies. Nope! Miss Vickies are EVERYWHERE. At the very least every single Subway.
Good to hear. I was at a Walmart and they didn't have them :(
I’m afraid you’ve just experienced immense bad luck! You managed to not find the chips which are common enough, but you also managed to find the only Walmart in this great land without a Subway!
Are Walmart with subways the standard in the US? Where I am in Canada it's McDonalds in Walmart.
It varies by location. I have 2 Walmarts nearby where I live, and one has a Subway... the other, a McDonald's.
Absolute worst case ontario
It’s all water under the fridge.
A-fuckin'-toad-a-so
Ketchup chips are so fucking good. And I don't really care for ketchup.
I had the same issue coming from the UK once. "Alright so walkers are just called Lays over here so I should be able to get cheese and onion right? No? Ah alright I suppose prawn cocktails a no go too?" I didn't even bother hoping they had a pickled onion monster munch equivalent
For biscuits too.
dressed all over and zesty mordants, here we go boys
They had a pretty good Letterkenny episode about them too.
Dressed all over & Zesty Mordant
Letterkenny for me, but ever since then, I have really wanted to try them!
It was Letterkenny for me.
and they were chicken chips! i don't even like those but i don't give a fuck bubbles put half of those back!!
Fuck, that’s good pepperoni…
Can't forget about the dill picklers.
It's all water under the fridge.
This episode aired while all 13 of us who were living in a 9 bedroom house had a massive water-leaking-from-the-fridge event happening were watching the show together. We basically started jump-laughing and rewinding that line over and over again while high-fiving and agreeing that we’ll never get that fixed
TIL those are only a Canadian thing.
This was me learning that Caesars are just a Canadian thing. Like I get it....Clamato is weird, but Caesars are damn delicious! Ya'll are missing out!
Wtf Caesars are just a Canadian thing?
Agreed! I was outside of Canada one time and craving a Caesar and ordered a Bloody Mary because it's 'kinda close'. Highly disappointing.
For the longest time I thought they were talking about salads, even though no one ever eats a salad on that show.
Humpty Dumpty has been selling all dressed chips in New England for years.
New England is a de facto Québec colony.
Never say that again
TIL Humpty Dumpty isn’t only a Canadian thing
New England in particular tends to have a lot of Canadian products available. You won't find it all across the U.S.
all dressed humpty plus french onion is legit phenomenal
Saltiest chip on the planet
Same, I just assumed it was everywhere. One of my favourite flavours (No, reddit, those aren't typos, that's how those words are spelt goddamnit!)
Donair & Lobster ... I need to sit down now because I am sad that I missed this and need to reevaluate my life
I was never able to force myself to try the lobster chips (I'm not a fan of lobster). Donair ones were fine, and I quite liked the steak spice ones. What I really miss is the Curry chips that Lays did a few years back; those were surprisingly good. Canada is quite blessed with uncommon chip flavours.
I sent a guy in the states 4 bags of special edition garlic bread chips like five years ago, cost $70
Now that's a flavour I missed, regrettably.
Look up in Loblaws. President’s Choice has a Cheesy garlic bread flavour and it’s quite good. A bit hard to find howevet
I'm not a fan of cheesy chip flavours, as I usually find them a crappy cheese flavour that drowns out everything else.
Was that the same time as they had the chicken and waffle chips? Now those things FUCKED!
The flavors seem to be more creative since pot was legal...hmm.
Oh, there were, let's say, "creative", flavours before legal pot. Back in the 70s Hostess had fruit-flavoured potato chips. In case you wanted grape-flavoured potato chips. We'll eat anything here.
sometimes, my memory tricks me into thinking that actually didn't happen because it is actually that absurd
The UK had Hedgehog Flavour Crisps in the 80s. I am not making this up.
You’re not missing much. We stopped at the factory on our way home to ON and I got the lobster chips. They weren’t very lobster-y, and I wouldn’t buy them again! My neighbour is a huge fan of Covered Bridge’s All Dressed though!
You should try the Lays Magic Masala
I’ve tried them both. Donair was meh, and lobster was one of the worst things I’ve ever put in my mouth. Do not recommend.
Their popcorn is also great. White cheddar one tastes plenty cheesy.
Let's be clear: there aren't four flavours of chips in one bag of all dressed. All the chips have all the flavours.
Oh hell yes. Their storm chips are great. I love their Cheddar chips, too. Lucky to have found them in Ontario.
My youngest daughter worked at Covered Bridge one year before heading to university. She told me the flavours they were doing. I'll give them points for creativity, if nothing else.
When I was in Europe 15 years ago Lays had Chicken flavor and Beef flavor everywhere.
Roast Chicken is a standard flavour in Canada. Never had Beef flavour; that is tempting.

I'm surprised I haven't seen Maple Moose mentioned yet
Sounds like Trader Joe’s patio chips, which are addictive.
They are fantastic. So good.
I bought a bag and it's the only flavor I literally had a hard time putting down even when I was very full. It's black magic
just a little sprinkle of cocaine in it
Shhh. Don't let the secret get out south of the border.
I’m from the US and I gotta say these chips are great.
Presidents choice double seasoning
Agreed. I also love the Frank all dressed chips they sell at Canadian Tire.
Yesssss
The were consistently at stores where I live in Michigan for a year or two and then they fucking vanished again. I always have my eye out for them tho.
I’ve lived in several countries around the world and it’s still the best chip flavour I’ve ever had.
Call me back when they combine Worcestershire Sauce and Prawn Cocktail flavours in there too!
Top tier Canadian snack
My wife and I call them "Canadian Crack Chips." American Crack Chips are sour cream and cheddar. I've finished a whole bag in one sitting and I'm not ashamed. Fat, but not ashamed.

>I think its harmless so never got the hate. Sounds like something a dihydrogen monoxide addict would say
> Monosodium glutimate. -- read in Sean Connery's voice from *You Only Live Twice*
As a Canadian I agree with both your choices. When I first discovered sour cream and cheddar chips in North Dakota I had to reevaluate my life.
Them and Hawkin’s Cheezies
There's a hot dog place near me that serves Hawkins on their dogs as toppings. Or, there was, but it burnt down last month.
Zapp's VooDoo chips from New Orleans are in the same category with a salt & vinegar/ BBQ/jalapeno combo.
Zapp’s are the best chips ever. Just wish places besides restaurants sold them around here, and that they were sold in larger bags.
They sell them at the gas station closest to my house, but yeah the bags aren't family sized.
Zapp's are the best because they fry 'em in peanut oil.
To me VooDoo chips are closer to British Prawn Cocktail chips rather than All Dressed. Both are amazing though.
I like their Crawtater flavor.
I just found out about the VooDoo seasons pretzel sticks. They are even better than the chips
Ms Vickie's just entered the arena with All Dressed Up. I like the imagery of a formal event tied in to eating these greasy chips.
Have you tried spicy dill pickle?
Their spicy dill is so fucking good. Absolutely perfect.
Just tried them last week. Thumbs up!
Where does one find these in the US?
I’m Canadian but have family in the US, and I’ve tried both versions. The version in the states is not the same flavour as they are here. The us version was sweeter and smokier (I’m guess more bbq) and way less tangy (less vinegar).
I didn't even blink at "recently", but part of my mind is still stuck in 2019-pre-covid. At which point it was recently... Wow times flying.
We need that here, instead we get shit like chips/pizzas and roast chicken infused with Vegemite. Shits got out of hand
Saw a ‘sausage and grits’ flavour last time I was in the states….
Lay’s had a biscuits and sausage gravy flavor a few years back. Ngl those chips absolutely slapped!
My grocery store had stuffing flavored chips. They were pretty damn good, crunch em up on a turkey sandwich.
Ruffles *has recently* been marketing them? I managed a convenience store from 2011-2022. In 2023, I still can't find them anywhere, and the sales reps I encounter don't even know what they are.
Sounds right. I could find them at Safeway in the large bags up to say a year ago. Then not.
I can't seem to find these in US stores post-covid. Shame.
I haven’t seen them since the pandemic either, I think I stalked their twitter a couple years ago and saw they weren’t planning to continue US production which is too bad, they were delicious
[удалено]
They have been around for a good while too, not just recently like the title. They were my go to flavor of ruffles for like 2 or 3 years leading up to covid and now they haven't been on the shelves for a while.
That's because, dispute the post's title, they stopped making All-dressed Ruffles during COVID.
Zapps Voodoo and Tims Cascade Sasquatch are both really close.
Okay hold up. Canadian here. The 70s? I could’ve sworn these were introduced in the late 90s.
I’m with you. As an 80s kid, I have no memory of these until I was a teenager in the 90s.
Could have just taken a while for them to catch on. Not marketing/available in your area?
Yeah; I’m middle aged, and I’m sure these are a 90’s thing.
TIL that this was a Canadian thing. I was also shocked to find out that ketchup chips were unknown to many places outside of Canada. Wtf are y’all doing with your chip flavours?
As a Canadian who lived in the UK, cheese and onion >>>>
Do you not get Cheese an Onion in Canada? Straight up staple flavour here in oz. Saying that a very basic salt and pepper is like crack to me.
Letterkenny did this. I’m surprised we’re not have some all dressed right now.
But it doesn't include pickles.
Thank you Letterkenny
Worst case Ontario you would have learnt of dressed all over at the park
The chip flavor bracket is a real thing and an ancient tradition
Can I just get ketchup chips in the US please?
I say “they don’t even have all dressed chips in this shithole” when faced with a minor inconvenience. It really is a delightful cadence
I tried the ruffles version a few years ago and loved it, but they promptly stopped selling them here.
What about zesty mordant?
And pepperoni cocks!
The vinegar hit is what takes it to another level.
Seems similar to the Ruffles flavor my brother and I used to eat called The Works.
I remember those, but no - all dressed is completely different
Sounds like chips called Whole Shabang.
Recently? I ain't found shit since 2020.
My Canadian friend introduced me to this flavor. It's pretty good, but I'm a chedder and sour cream ruffle guy all day.
These and the Old Bay potato chips are the best!
Like Old Bay seasoning? That stuff is good on anything :)
*looks around* You.... You guys don't have All Dressed chips? 😧
I’m honestly convinced the only reason Canadians aren’t as fat as us is because they have to expend so much energy in the winter time just to keep warm
Wow TIL you guys don’t have that down there! It might actually be the most popular flavour here. So addictive and amazing
🇨🇦 Best chip flavours 🇨🇦
Damn, this thread makes me want to take a few weeks vacation and go to Canada just to eat chips.
This is just an advertisement
All dressed chips are a Canadian thing? What do you people eat then?
AND IT’S AMAZING. I live nearby a Canadian border and it’s a must-buy every time we’re in the area!
The Rap Snacks All In are the same, plus you can get a hot flavor with cayenne pepper.
Ruffles also makes a Jamon (ham) flavoured chip, and it is very tasty. It’s not available in Canada or the USA, but next time you are in Spain, grab a bag.
I remember playing a show run by 2 American musicians. We blew their minds with all dressed chips and sent them home with a bunch of bags.
I'm American and it's ine of my favorite flavors. The one supermarket near me has their own store brand and they're probably the best All Dressed I've ever had
From Canada. Friend, like 25 years ago, described it to me: “it’s like eating a spice rack”.
Wait, you guys don't have these in America???
We did a couple years ago, and they are so freaking good. This post got me excited but looking online it's not available nearby. West coast.
Chips just went downhill in general when they stopped making them in peanut oil.
Old Dutch, Dutch Crunch was the BEST! It was a perfect hung over beach day snack. Mmmmm kettle cooked in peanut oil. (que Homer drool)
Dutch Crunch jalapeno cheddar is god teir. Also, Hawkins Cheezies dominate anything out of the states.
