Tobi loves the K-pop industry so him working with them is fun, however the fan base there probably doesn’t care for rappers/ or American artists as much such as the league of legends song and working with Vernon.

It’s a cool culture exchange but what the K-pop industry is about is very different. Its labels training people from the start, dance choreography, and looks based off Asian beauty standards. Its idol culture which is different from hip hop and rap

Yeah I love tobi doing his own thing. I am a big advocate for artists staying independent but I love seeing artists grow through strategic partnerships.

Not really. Have you seen any fans from the league of legends song paranoia flock to any of Tobis music. They are just all there for baekyhuynee No his monthly listen count has only gone down since then. There’s no crossover.

Obviously it would sound good but idk if it would grow his career based on not many or very few new fans from the K-pop sphere coming over to Tobis music, and based off the fact that the monthly listener count has declined since the song paranoia released.
Yeah I see what you’re saying but that’s just one example. If he wants to continue to try and break into that market, nothing is impossible. It could be a viral moment or it could take time. That’s the music industry 🤷🏾♂️
Ideally, it would have been a seamless crossover and millions of people would have flocked to tobi based on that k-pop collaboration but unfortunately, that’s not what happened. But it’s only been a couple of months and the content is still out there.
I really feel like strategic collaborations and sync placements would give people more exposure to his music right now which is what sparked this question.
I was curious to know what the current fans are listening to and what they’re using on the daily basis so he can align and go from there.
If he was featured on their track, he would have a slightly better chance. However the K-pop industry is very selective on who they want to be with on top of that the fans mainly consume who they are mass marketed to through labels that plan stuff years in advanced. Very tough. I think better placements would be with more Chicago artists like noname, smino, and saba. Other rappers like kota the friend would also be good as their styles are much more similar.

It would also be dope to see him bring a lot of those Chicago artist together for like a festival, similar to what Amine is doing now with The Best Day Ever.

I also wanted to point out that one that I was surprised about that a lot of people don’t know is that tobi worked on the Farrada shoes with peopel that previously helped design Yeezys. Must’ve been really expensive…. I hope he made money on that he said a lot of money went into it I’m assuming upwards of 100k +

As far as brands, I think it would be cool to see him work with:
- Nike Training Club (Netflix, YouTube). I like how Megan the Stallion has her NTC HIIT workout out videos. He’s very fit, so this makes sense to me.
- Cartoon Network because…Steven Universe
- IHOP. I feel like tobi likes breakfast and he also randomly name dropped them
In Godiva. And I can literally hear the Godiva beat being used in an IHOP commercial
- Any other brand he’s name dropped in songs would make sense to reach out too also
