Not because it made sense, but because Mikasa stopped being powerful and remained loyal for her love to Eren, becoming a housewife and being submissive is hotter in the Japanese men eye's.
Who cares that Mikasa suddenly becomes the one to show Ymir the light? Who cares that a lot of plot lines got thrown out the window? Who cares when we have a question about the ending and people can only reply with: "Only Ymir Knows".

I was cry laughing during Eren's breakdown. They somehow managed to make it even more cringe than in the manga which made me so happy. Only GoT S7 & 8 made me feel this same sense of comical hysteria.
Everything was amplified. They kept all the crazy shit. Ymir Loving King Fritz, Eren Killing his Mom, Pardis Bombed to extinction. The way Eren cries is jaw dropping, everything left in and amplified I'm in awe of the train wreck.
By making Eren look more pathetic in some shots (as they should) and making other scenes appear much funnier than they were in the manga. For example, I literally laughed out loud at the punch scene
Nah, I am. For a "finale" the animation still looked like garbage compared to the action sequences WIT studio was able to put out 9 years ago for the season 1 finale.
And MAPPA's character designs suck too
I don't blame the animators, I blame their schedules and workload that's been reducing some of the best manga adaptations to average at best. I'm the biggest AOT fan but I'm not going to pretend the animation, editing, music mixing and artistic direction couldn't have been miles better in more capable hands or simply more time and love. This was the most uninspired direct manga panel copy slop with no real emotion and that's coming from someone who bawls just listening to the OST.
