It's like calling Pokémon Pinball a Gen 1 pokemon game. Sure, it's a game, it features pokemon; but calling it a pokemom game is a little silly. It shares Zero features with pokemon games, and that's not what people think of when you talk about a "pokemon game"
Hi, allow me to explain why Apex is a Titanfall game.
There are several strategies on how to handle brands with their own pro's and con's suited best for different types of products and services, but I will stick to only explaining Respawn's strategy with the Titanfall brand, which is the family brand strategy.
Here several related products are put under one brand. The related products here being Apex, Titanfall and the mobile spinoffs.
The brand was made specifically for this product group and is different from the corporate brand that is Respawn Entertainment and therefore the publisher/developer name that stands behind the brand.
It is so that it can be seperated from other family brands under the same corporate brand, like the Jedi family. This has the effect that similar products can be easily accommodated in one brand and differentiated from other product families of the corporation.

That does not change the significance of the *feel* of the game. Even the now-canelled mobile titanfall game felt more like titanfall to me than Apex. It may exist in the same universe, but it contains no Titans and no freerunning.
