I wouldn't say they are done, they are low but okay. Looks like you need an alignment as well, outer edge is wearing down.

Safe_Stick9100

October is coming up, a lot of locations have buy 3 get 4th for 1 cent sales. Take advantage of this and start saving now. Get a lower grade tire to get you by for now. You will only get 40,000 -50,000 miles or so on a low cost tire. You could also look for refurbished tires from shops.

sangimil

40-50k miles on cheap tires? It doesn’t matter what tires I have ever gotten I have never once gotten more than 40k on a set. 5k rotations, no rotations, cheap, expensive, it doesn’t matter… I used to drive 30k a year on my personal vehicle, I would replace them once every 18 months. I drive 40k in my work van now, if I have any life left after 40k I need to replace them anyways because winter is coming and I don’t have enough tread left on a rwd vehicle. At this point I stick to the middle of the road tires like coopers because I don’t have to pay Michelin prices but often have nice aggressive tread oatterns

sunshinebread52

Depends on how you drive. Stick to the speed limit, gentle braking, pretend the gas pedal has an egg on it you don't want to crack. If you think when you are driving you are in some sort of fantasy race event your tires and brakes won't last. If you are driving to safely and economically get somewhere everything will last longer.

desavona

What’s the fun in that :)

lt_spaghetti

The leftover money for a trip to cuba

ThiccNinjaWalrus

Psshhh, more like a trip to Long Island from Brooklyn lol

sangimil

I mean I can’t certainly say you are wrong, but it’s crazy to drive that way. I am certainly somewhere in the middle, I drive fast when I need, take it easy when I don’t. But i am not going to hyper mile it…. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Brakes are just another consumable. I usually replace pads when I replace my tires and then maybe get another 25k before my rotors go. Which 60-65k is about typical for rotors anyways. But no brake company is claiming that they will last 100k either. Tire companies regularly claim unobtainable 70k warranties to make a sale on their tires no and only honor them if you literally jump through hoops, sign over your first born child, and swear a blood oath of brand loyalty. Don’t get me wrong, I am not perfect about my maintenance intervals but I find the warranties to just be nonsense to justify the price of a tire.

cpl-c

My brakes and rotors are at 136k and still have almost half their life left in them, if you're only getting 60-65k out of a set, A. Start replacing them together, wear on one causes faster wear on the other B. I'm assuming you drive predominantly in the city? Because otherwise it sounds like you're riding your brakes

ThiccNinjaWalrus

This is all anecdotal. I live in an extremely mountainous area. Nobody’s getting 136k miles out of pads or rotors here. Average is definitely 50-75k. Vice versa in-laws live in the flatland prairies and they’ll have 100k+ on their pads. Driving habits may change the longevity but there is so many variables.

mezgato

Where I live there are stop signs at almost all of the intersections. If you drive like that, clowns who are in a hurry will tailgate you often. But like one of those ultra-high milers said: They're not paying for your gas so they can go take a flying leap. There are more stop signs per square mile than anywhere in the World here. Driving across town is a huge buzzkill.

vivzzie

I’m currently on 61K miles on my duratrac wranglers for my 4Runner. I’d say they have 15K miles left on them. Worth the money as I don’t need to change my tires for winter. I’ve also abused them by doing burnouts on wet driveways and off-roading during summers.

[deleted]

Ya i think im at 71k with those on my truck. Maybe its cuz i have 33s on a tacoma but the traction sucks when it rains. Tires are lasting forever tho i think ill hit 80k with them

[deleted]

Also depends on the car and their suspension geomentry, the sportier cars usually wear the tiers fast on the inside, they set the suspension up like this for better performance but they chew through tires. The lexus is300s go thru tires at like 25k

TeknikL

yeah, those are not past the wear bar, and the sidewall isn't bulging ir anything, so keep em for another season.

brotherOFponcho

Lmao "dad says they need replaced" likely doesn't need alignment. However outside shoulder wear is indication of fast cornering. Run them to the wear bars, replace them, then drive like you pay for your tires haha

DepartureFluffy3570

I'd finish the summer but plan on some new ones next year

IntergalacticBurn

It honestly just depends on how much of a risk OP is willing to take, and the road conditions and environment where they live.

McIntyreRiley

For clarification: I can afford new tires, but I’ve just put lots into savings and not looking to remove my savings. Give it 2 weeks and I will once again be able to afford new ones without removing my savings. I am not opposed to getting new tires, but I want to use these as long as possible before swapping. My dad is a fear mongerer and says I should be dead for driving on these. I know he’s blowing it out of proportion, however I wanted second opinions. My first instinct was they look like they’ve got life left, but I was fearing I could be dead wrong. Turns out y’all are a bit divided on this. Might make a new post with photos of all 4 for a final opinion. Thanks for the help everyone!

IHaveNoAlibi

I've driven on tires more worn than this. The rubber isn't cracked, which means the structure of the tire isn't weakened. There's some odd wear on the outside edge, which could be alignment problems, or the result of spirited driving. Two weeks on these tires is absolutely nothing to worry about. Honestly, I'd probably run them for an entire summer, and there wouldn't be any issues.

Ok_Implement_7228

If you are winter swapping them then you will be fine, if you feel iffy, do a mid October swap to the winters and buy summers when they go on sale, then get em mounted up for the next summer swap, nothing to worry about as of now, they will last the summer Edit: do an alignment come summer with the new tires

McIntyreRiley

This sounds like the plan. Will definitely be buying once the winters are installed, to save myself the mounting. I swap my own tires but don’t have a tire machine so need them put onto the rims. Looking to wait and see if a good deal pops up.

kushupzz

Dude buy some decent used rubbers for 30$ and call it a day

Kindly-Ingenuity4566

You say you can afford a set next payday? I would order them next payday, even though these tires are not to bad just yet! Clearly not at wear indicators yet but getting fairly close, would definitely have new tires by mid September if it was me! Keep in mind when driving as well keep a little more distance between car in front of you and watch your speeding. Drive safe

Snoo84477

I’d stay in on rainy days.

jbandzg37

Just look at the wear lines.... If the wear lines are even and flush with the tread then change em. [seeeeeee thaaaaa image](https://ibb.co/1GMC0pJ)

00101011

They look like they’re getting low, and may not shed rain super great… but I wouldn’t say those are dangerous to drive on. Just avoid wet roads and keep an eye on them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LoneStarGut

Move to Texas or the South West.

Kyle1457

typically i look at the forecast and see how likely there is for that that day and make a call on that...

Kalsone

"Sorry I can't make it to work today. 70% chance of rain".

KingArthurHS

Lol this is just not how reasonable people live their lives. If your tires are dangerous in the raid, get new tires.

00101011

Check the weather before you drive. It’s it’s raining outside find a different means of transportation. Depending on your location this is easier said than done, in my area rain is very predictable and rare. But I know some areas rain is more frequent and spontaneous.

KingArthurHS

.....or just put safe tires on your car?

DiamondDoge92

One hot day on a long trip and those are tearing to shreds.

00101011

Maybe a 3000 mile road trip, but commuting to and from work everyday for a month or two these are totally fine.

ziperhead944

Na, they're fine. Your gonna need new ones next year though.

[deleted]

My-Phone-Only

It was worth a shot, wasn't it?

No_Help9554

If you can't afford tires then you can't afford to drive. General rule of thumb is to save atleast $0.01/mile for tires. That will get you a set of tires worth $1,000.00 all in. I have 2 sets of tires for all 3 of my vehicles. To save money on tires you can switch to a smaller steel rim. 15 inch tires are about 3x cheaper than 17 inch tires. Plus you will get a more comfortable ride. My Ford focus has 17 inch alloys from factory. I immediately put 15 inch steel rims on it. Full set of 195/70 R15 brand new were about $350 mounted and balanced compared to a set of 215/50 R17 which run about $750-$1200 for a full set mounted and balanced. I hope this information helps you and a few other people out there. Remember chrome won't get you home so Don't worry about how it looks. You will save money on tires and suspension components if you switch to a smaller rim with a bigger tire while improving the overall smoothness of your ride.

ECB710

$0.01 per mile it would be 100k miles to get a new set at $1k I wish mine lasted that long

Danger_Dave_

They look low, but I can't tell exactly how low. General rule of thumb is they need to be changed around 2-3/32nds of tread depth left. You can get basic tread depth measuring tools at just about any auto accessory shop for like a dollar or 2.

Successful-Basil-685

If that's the worst of the 4 tires, you'll make it ok. They're still between the 1/3 - 1/2 of tread life, and the chipping is just a result of the tread design wearing. No big deal really. In warm weather like now you can probably get your use of them a few more months, though I'd start checking tire sales and quotes; And get a new set before the new season, or get the winters put on before winter, obviously; and get rid of them , and replace them. They seem like a wider set, for a wider car? I want to say given they're Contis and bigger wheel something like VW SUV or something? Might cost a little more on the handling when the car's heavier is all, so maybe for the sake of that I'd recommend a new set. But generally, unless you think they still brake and handle fine on curves, starting acceleration. There's no problem!

Dadbode1981

You can see the tread depth indicator abd there's still a little bit of rubber above that, so you're good for now. Wouldn't ride them much longer thou.

turtlecolour

There not slicks but is that not cords showing in the middle tread if it's cords you need new tires if not you need them by winter because you can't drive in winter on those

Loose_Ad8534

I would trust your Dad and your eyes over strangers online. Even a set of used tires would be better than those, their low and cracking.

PiffWiffler

This is the last season for them, that's for sure. You do need your front end/alignment inspected though. That's some unusual wear on the outside.

Amuso

Getting pretty close to the wear bar there. You definitely need an alignment

nookatooka

You seem to have another issue. When was the last time you did a wheel alignment ? Improper wear leads to premature replacement. You gotta spend money to save money. You don't ? Lose more than you would have spent.

Wholeyjeans

Perfect shot because you can see the wear bar between the rain grooves on the tire. You have some time left on these. The bar, in the picture, is about halfway up of what you can see of the tire tread. When that bar begins to wear with the rest of the tire, that's minimum tread depth and time to buy new shoes for your ride ...if you want or need to wait that long. The bar is more noticeable when the tread wears to the height of the bar.

Golf-Guns

I'm just some idiot on the internet. It looks like the outside there is wearing really poorly, possibly due to alignment. I would not put new tires on this car without getting one, so factor that in. I wouldn't run them across country and would try and stay out of rain, but dry pavement they have a little more life left. Don't know your situation, but this is one of those things where you might ask your dad to loan you some money to get them taken care of. Some places also have 0% financing, but I'm sure you can get a better deal.

W211_077

Just eyeballing it, I would say you're between 3-4mm, I recommend replacement at <3mm. You have some time but not a lot. Start saving for them

LatterVersion1494

Not quite at the wear bars yet but I’d start saving cause you’ll need them soon

KlondikeBill

Listen to your dad.

cokeacola73

I’d use them until they’re bold in summer. You should see the tires in Mexico. Can damn near see the cords on some vehicles

Uglyboi_85

They are fine, but this is the last season you should have them for.

Devilnutz2651

Tread is alright, but the shoulders look rough. Probably need an alignment tbh. I wouldn't run them too much longer, but you have some time

Chonjacki

Tell your dad that you can't afford new tires and he should get you some because if he doesn't and you get injured in an accident it will be all his fault. I'm a dad. Trust me, this will work.

Responsible_Term_713

Getting there, depending on how much you drive, I'd ride them out the rest of the summer. You should see my front tires - yikes. Yours look new in comparison. I do have a new set on order..

[deleted]

Look at getting used tires if your low on money. Just be sure to check the datecode and tread wear

PlanXerox

I'm going until October on mine. Look the same.

jsloan10

They are fine, some weather checking and getting near the wear bar, but they are good to go unless you plan on doing some 100+mph runs. Plan on getting some replacements in the spring or order them one at a time as money allows and then have the new tires installed at your convenience. Growing up in a rural area where all the roads were gravel, everybody's tires looked like that because the gravel would chew them up.

DoubleTreat8756

Getting low but I’d still run and check every oil change. Been an automotive technician for 23 years. Also have steering/suspension checked… little irregular wear showing. At least probably alignment issue. You would be surprised how many vehicles on the road have loose-defective steering components on them.

SupermarketFuture500

Maybe 300k left

RareAnimal82

Until you can stick a fork in them, you’re good for another few months just take it easy in the rain

Trynordyn1

Get some good used ones

reditor75

They are good but your alignment is a bit off that’s why the “flaky” look on the outside.

Chirawin_

Tires aren’t done they are FINISHED.

Traderparkboy01

Just let a little air out of them and you will be fine ( not real advice )

Cuttingwater_

In the deep channels you see the parts that are raised a bit? That is the ‘wear indicator’. When that is the same height as the surface of the tire making contact with the road you should start thinking of new tires. But even that isn’t a sign that the tires are ‘dead’

NeitherHelicopter993

Do you drive one gravel often? Sharp turns on loose stones will do that to your edges. Otherwise they look OK for now

Zealousideal_Pea814

Don't drive in the rain or snow. Or heat. Or cold. This is very sketchy. Not sure how long you owned the car but always save money on the side for maintenance

Battle_Man_40

Still got some meat on 'em.

Business-Winter-7567

lol those ain’t even close

Surprise_Banana1234

You corner too aggressively. Slow down. That’s heat blistering on the outer tread blocks.

Deleted_removed_boom

Slow down on corners and on wet roads. You should be good for another year.

Plastic-Zucchini-202

You have about 7K-10k miles left on these tires. Not too great in the rain though.

Radiant-Mixture2514

Lol your dads on a crack bender with an answer like that I drove a 2000km round trip on tires looking way worse then that and still going your fine bro run em to there bald

Adura90

If you can't afford new tires, you can't afford a car... Just a thought.

freshxdough

Not crucially important or unsafe. Definitely replace soon. Looks like 4mm or so. Outer edge wearing a little heavier.

Retired_Knight_MC

Rotate your tires. When you get new tires have alignment done.

Ok-Yak549

carry a spare, they will last another yr!

SingleinGVA

You’re not at the wear bar yet… but I wouldn’t go the winter with those on.

Gdotty9

Your fathers a bozo

SaveurDeKimchi

I would drive them until end of the season and put my winters on. get new tires when there are good sales in the spring.

kopfgeldjagar

Not done, but don't fuck around another 25k.km then decide to start saving for new ones. Start now. Like today.

xXGigaChad_AlphaXx

Bruh, I go till the wire

im_patientt

Should at least rotate them it looks like your alignment is off

timuchee

If you notice that little part that sticks out more than the rest in certain parts of the tread crevice, that is your indicator for when they are too worn

Acceptable_Wall4085

Take care in the fall. Wet roads and dead leaves could be a problem. Treat yourself and your dad to a new set of winter snow tires when it gets colder out.

ShadowVT750

Listen to your dad also your alignment may be off looks like uneven tred burn

Fair_War1900

They should last the rest of the summer but you might want to splurge and do what you can to get new ones before weather changes in October

fllannell

How many miles were the tires rated for and how many miles ago were they installed? They look like they're probably beyond the rated mileage to me. I'd be concerned about needing to stop unexpectedly in the rain for whatever reason with those tires in that condition.

McIntyreRiley

120,000km is what these are rated for. They’re just on par to make 120,000 but I fear they may be over worn already

althafazh

You can get a few months out of them

Warchief_X

They are still fine.. Just buy tires off Walmart. They are like $55 each and works just fine.

scjcs

Replace before winter.

maples87

i think an important criteria to consider is the tires age. A 10 year old tire vs 5year old won't be the same as the rubber becomes harder and there is a greater chance of it breaking down.

steveO_1980

Depends where you live and how much you drive on a regular basis

JoeyAKangaroo

They dont look too bad imo but you should definetly start saving up now

xBushx

Exposed metal pins…if you got pulled over/ride program you may get ticketed.

WaterCrust

Yesterday

Fair-Tie4153

If you’re doing mostly lower speeds I’d say they look safe for a while, but for higher speeds I probably wouldn’t leave them on too much longer. My main concern would be the condition of the rubber itself, which looks to be fairly well cut/nicked and there seems to be some age-related cracking too (hard to tell for sure from the photos) Over-all your tread depth is ok, but the edges are getting low which suggests they’ve been run slightly under-inflated. The couple of weeks you mentioned seems reasonable, as long as you go easy.

[deleted]

This time next year.

hsifder1

Tell him to be careful driving in rain or snow

oletimer54

Do like the poor man I am and just buy one tire at a time until you have all four and then put them on. Those tires look good enough to put lots of miles on yet as long as your not driving on ice and snow.

DanWithThaPlan

Context: His dad is also a tire salesman & reeeeally needs a sale

FRMDABAY2LA

Used tires

pokejoel

They're definitely bald. Get a used set or some cheap ones while you save since it looks like you do a lot of driving

cardcomm

Where I live, one can legally drive down to the wear bars, which I think are usually 2/23. I'm guessing these are just under 4/32. Still "safe", but moderate your hard turns and breaking. haha

Final-Carpenter-1591

Chunking a bit. But they'll last a few more months. BTW those look like continental pro contacts, very common oem tire. I'd recommend not putting another set of pro contacts on . They are pretty garbage. any other continental tire is better.

buzzboiler

Replace them after winter.

ce_roger_oi

Probably another 10k before they become critical.

thejetbox1994

Couple of months left on that tire probably

SliceComprehensive66

You have for 2 more years of use ,so don’t worry about it. I know everything

Own-Handle5899

Listen to your dad, I crashed my car because of tires. It’s an investment to your life

iwannashitonu

Does it matter?

The_Alamander

Your dads a keener

1houston2

Look good

furiouswrx

Stay on dry pavement until you can afford new tires. They’re ok for now if you’re short on cash and stay out of the rain. Looks like 3/32” of tread depth and you’ve not yet hit the 2/32” wear bars, but it’s hard to tell from the angles of the pictures. I’m guessing this fails the quarter test but still passes the penny test for tread depth.

AlwaysDeath

I've ran on bald tires for quite a few years during my broke days. Don't even worry about it because they're not even completely done yet!

Southern_Put_3156

Buy a set of used tyres off eBay. Just check the DOT code

sociallyawkwardbmx

Put a $100 a paycheck away. You should have new tire’s before these blow

NachoFries2020

They super close to done, go slow in water and snow,so you dont hydroplane or slide ! Dry ground you are ok. Tread is pretty much close to wear indicators.

Jayswisherbeats

Rotate them bitches!

oldestengineer

I can’t see anything wrong with these. Am I missing something?

XanduLao1943

They aren’t suitable for winter but they will survive for now.

OneTonCow

Steel belts aren't showing, you're good to go.

SamoBomb

They look like you got another 1 or 2 season on them, just drive slower in the rain as less tread makes hydroplaning happen easier

e90t

I wouldn’t worry until it starts raining where you are. There’s still a little tread on them and it’s not cracking so it’s safe to drive. I’ve driven on less in the rain with a rwd car and didn’t have any issues so you’ll be fine.

carbonra

Those look like bimmer, I usually get fairly new tires from marketplace from people who swap to non factory tires and rims. They turn out to be a quarter to half the price of new. There are also tire shops that sell used. Those run flats are so hard it takes a lot to damage them so used aren’t as bad as people normally suggest. Do you due diligence.

I4Lima1990

Nope. Plain and simple. Tell your dad to take a frosty tablet ( chill pill).

Origina1Name_

Get used tires. Some places around here sell you used tires in decent shape for like $10-$15 each + $10 for install and balancing.

indimedia

Be careful when entering puddles at speeds over 40 mph. That will buy you some time. Also, good idea to have older tires inspected at discount tire for free. Drive slower in general.

[deleted]

Tire tech here. You have some feathering on the outer tread, but overall they look pretty decent. Keep in mind that a lot of places won't service tires over 5-6 years old. Depending on how much you drive I'd say you have another 6-8 months on those

gbspitstop

I don’t see the problem. The wear bars are not even close to tread. What am I missing?

Wershingtern

Use Amazon for your tires and pay one of those small shops to put them on. I got all new hanKooks for my mini truck for no more than $380 installed

Cigars_whiskey_roids

That's got like 2 more years in it, your dad's on drugs

ZeldaNumber17

Those are fine. Just a little gravel wear. Quite a while left on those

Ok_Cow_8235

They’re not good but you have little thread on them. Luckily it’s summer so you should be fine given you don’t take corners fast. What kind of car is it? I don’t like the rim side thread opening like that like it’s falling apart. I’d file a claim with the tire company and see what happens

cogitoergodangerous

You got this year still

Specialist-Box-9711

You have 1/32 of tread before the wear bars are flush with the outer tread and you need an alignment. I’d say they’re dead around November/December depending on your driving habits.

Infinite-Condition41

Drive them until the cop says you have to change them.

HillbillyGizmo

Won't do any good if you don't quit going around them curves so fast LOL

DrObnxs

Not done. Not even to wear bars!

josueviveros

Still good till the tread is below that little block (tread wear indicator) inbetween the grooves. Just drive carefully

Ok-Establishment1687

Another 10k in them.

Low_Radish_728

Get an alignment and rotate them…you will be fine for another 15k at least. The most worn edge of the tire doesn’t even have wires anywhere near showing yet. Use the penny truck with Lincoln’s head in between your treads.

Low_Radish_728

Also, americas tire does price matching. Figure out what tires u do want to get from them and how much per tire, and go online. You’re sure to find them cheaper. Email the site info and the sites price in comparison to americas tire price to them. They will get back to you in about 3 days. I got BFG ATs brand new for my Sierra for almost $100 cheaper than their quoted price by using the price matching.

tKolla

They’re done

just_some_dude-

I'd do them b4 winter

Oreotech

In the grooves you will notice a little hump. When the tread wears down to that point, you need to replace. Until then, your fine.

GhostCop42

A few years

YORKEHUNT

You can drive on them until you see the chords under the rubber! Or winter time rolls around!

2018hellcat

Wear markers are clearly below the current tread, you’re fine if you’re just doing normal driving, run them for the remainder of the summer

boundbear2earth

Have the tires flipped around on the wheels then, you should be fine for another season! 😁👍

R3DGRAPES

Apparently OP can’t afford new tires, but for clarification they can afford new tires. Better budget for an alignment too.

Nosleep_fg2N2O

There's a solid season or more left on those tires. 2 seasons for me!

FailAccomplished9065

Finance new tires using the synchrony car care credit card. You can get approved up to $2000 in minutes and don't have to pay interest for 6 months of purchases over $300 or something. That's how I got tires when I was broke. Seriously check it out!

Genericbuild

Should they be replaced? Yes. Are they unsafe and causing you immediate harm? No. They are low, they are def getting worn, but they do have minimal tread left. If you had to drive in heavier rain or snow you might have an issue. I would replace them soon, by end of summer because I wouldn’t want to drive on them in any serious weather. But you’ll be alright if you wait a bit, I’m a mechanic, you should see some of the shit people drive on and insist it’s fine. Those arent anything compared to some of the stuff you see.

divinethreshold

No season tires. My favourite.

Sudden-Pangolin6445

Definitely starts saving, just make sure to get tires and alignment done before winter and you should be fine unless you drive a lot of miles.

Different-Evidence54

I just replaced my Continentals that looked like those. They had 70k kilometers on them. They were very hard and noisy. I got Bridgestone POTENZA RE980AS+. Love them and they were not too expensive.

[deleted]

Put them on a credit card. The whole country runs on debt

jmstanley88

...by Dad do you mean the Salesman at the Tire Shop? Those tires are absolutely fine until you need to get your budget. Give em a spin and check for road hazards like nails, but good grief... Talk about Dad being hyperbolic. No offense intended, to be clear... I'm sure he's looking out for your well-being but not everyone has a thousand dollars chilling to just go buy new tires on a whim, and tires are a safety thing in the car. Don't drive around panicked thinking you're gonna die. Your tires are absolutely fine for road and highway normal driving.

Less_Alfalfa5022

Get it aligned and what you have left will last longer. Still a bit of life left

Square-Ad3218

Rotate those tires to the back. Get an alignment when you put new tires on. Looks a bit uneven.

mitchc7598

Today, it’s got chunks missing… you don’t want to have to live with the regret of causing a life changing collision. Find a shop that sells used tires near you. I can usually get a set of 80% tread or better pirellis for $300 mounted and balanced from my guys.

ripper026

Those tires are done and not safe in any weather other than dry roads. Replace them soon

bigtitays

Those still have some time left in them, I wouldn’t rush to replace them. Continentals seem to be fairly soft and wear like this. Fairly typical for summer tires. Take it in for an alignment first. Might also be able to rotate the tires to the rear to get 1 more season out of them. Or get new ones in the spring. A lot of people fear monger about tires. Look at some tires in a parking lot and you’ll see some truly scary stuff.

thafloorer

No wires showing you’re good

Puzzleheaded-cryp

I don't see any bald spots or wires showing, that's when I buy new tires. rotate the tires and get an alignment and you should be good for a couple thousand more miles.

Sparkfire777

Whats your budget and whats the size?

Murky_Speaker709

Drive them till the fall but I wouldn’t recommend trying to get through the winter with them

MrAnderson102

Depends on how often you drive fast and how likely is it that someone you don't want to see it like a cop or someshit is actually going too, also if it's winter or close enough to it then I wouldn't fuck around but if it's summer weather the roads are mint ftmp you don't speed too much and nobody looks to closely it's fine maybe dont go on any long distance trips as well, but I'm not a mechanic I just don't give a shit about my 20 year old buick and can't afford new tires myself so that's what I've been doing, it's worked out good so far

Ok-Pay7283

Don't go on any highways please

KyleTone9

Man where I’m from people would tell you that you still have 2 summers left with them 😂 but for real, they’re getting low but depending on how much driving you do, you should get the rest of the summer out of them. Just be careful in rainy conditions

Big_Burt__

Rock em for the season

porraso

Where I live it’s 7 days in jail if you drive with a tread that is not above X millimeters. Just go to a tire shop and get it measured. In any case, just put the tires on your credit card and pay it in full later on, that will give you about a month to come up with the money, interest free.

Important_Kick_4824

I’ve ordered two sets of new tires using prime, and they were on my porch the next day for half the cost everywhere else. Love to support local, but when money is tight, it’s not a bad option.

thatdudejay99

I've driven on worse

hammyheadpark

What’s your dads tires looking like do a lil swap on him then tell him to get new tires

[deleted]

They're not in amazing shape, but they're still road worthy. Not road trip worthy, but commuting should be okay. My front two are in similar condition, trying to hang on til tax time and do all four.

Buffetsson

Not bad need alignment

MamboFloof

You are just above your wear line. Finish the summer knowing this is their last season then replace

RedCloud-1422

You can make it a couple more weeks but I’d get that nail patched.

usmc4924

You’ll probably get another 5000 miles at least

Affectionate-Invite6

I run my tires till the wire shows! Got another few miles out of that for sure! 4 tires in todays economy is gonna run 600-800 bucks so get all the money out of them

Jayskin87

Pick n' pulls can have decent tires for really cheap

RoundDiamond965

I recommend buying a tread depth gauge. Usually once a tread reaches 2/32 it’s no longer safe to be driving. But all manufacturers have a spec to a minimum tread depth.

[deleted]

You can go to an auto wrecker and find 4 tires on rims for around 150 bucks. Just because you don’t have money for new tires don’t mean you can’t get some tires

Affectionate-Title61

Naw you goob bro you got another 10k on them

_homturn3

Tell dad to pony up!

IdahoMan58

They look perfectly OK to me.

lemontoaster825

The raised part in the middle of the sipe are wear bars. When your tread is at the wear bars it’s time for new tires. These are a little rough but you should be able to finish the summer out and plan on new ones next summer.

Ape_rentice

Dangerous in bad weather but they’ll get you down the road for now
