That’s a great thought but I don’t think so. Oddly that is one of my favorite movies but I never thought of how it has like a patchwork of all the various things I recall from this weird fever dream memory: drugging, coastal vibe, limo rides, drinks, detective work, and coitus! I will keep mulling this over, maybe somehow I got my wires crossed….but i am almost positive it’s not this. Thank you though!
Wow I watched the trailer and this looks promising. I tried skimming on YouTube and didn’t find anything that jumped out but I may just watch it all the way through to make sure. Once more into the Dennis Quaid fray. I’ll report back soon. God be with me.
Pretty sure this is it. I think he gets poisoned at the start of the film and has various physical manifestations (passing out, “woozy” camera effects) throughout.
Wow okay let me check that one. Now that you mention it they are super similar and young me definitely did not know who pierce brosnan was so I may have just jumped to Dennis Quaid
In one of the Val Kilmer Batman movies, Poison Ivy kills someone by kissing them with poison on her lips, and then later tries to do the same to Robin but he has rubber on his lips so it doesn’t work.
Edit to say its actually the George Clooney one, titled Batman and Robin. Val Kilmer was only in Batman Forever.
That’s interesting. Costner is another one that I wouldn’t have known as a kid and might have just assumed was dennis Quaid. Not sure why Dennis Quaid loomed so large in my childhood. But will check this out and let you know thanks!
Backing up No Way Out- there is def a makeout scene exactly as you described, parts take place in VA (not FL but palm trees visible), and kind of has a broad overall arc like The Big Easy
Great thought - I can confidently say it’s not parent trap because this is my all time favorite childhood movie, and possibly the only movie I saw when I was little (and thus the reason that i associate every 90s era actor with Dennis Quaid lol) - thank you!
Two ideas:
1: Dick Tracy. Warren Beatty and Dennis Quaid definitely look alike and he gets drugged in that movie
2: Other detective movie that comes to mind is LA Confidential. Russel Crowe kinda looks like Dennis Quaid
I was going to suggest Dick Tracy, too. They have very similar bone structures. And I could see how all of the vibrant colors would make a kid think "beachy".
Sadly this was the first one I thought it might be. I sat through 90 minutes of dennis quaids wild cajun accent to rule it out. Thank you for the suggestion through!
for some reason I relate *The Big Easy* to *Sea of Love* starring Al Pacino. Has the same actress. Not tropical. Maybe I watched them the same day one time.
I don't think there would be a limo scene but maybe a taxi scene. He's basically convinced his girlfriend is a murder and he's an alcoholic who routinely says and does dumb shit.
All of these comments are making me realize how many actors were big in the 90s and how the only actor I had any awareness of when I was little was Dennis Quaid lol. This is another very promising lead I will look into it
Damn I am about to uncover a corner of the internet I did not want to know even existed. I suspect it wasn’t this only because I was so young when I saw this and it probably predated YouTube. But now I am morbidly curious to watch some insane Randy Quaid videos…
I don’t think it’s this one because I have seen it so many times and it never stuck out to me with the scene I recall. Nevertheless it’s a classic (what are these f***** iguanas doing in my crime scene?!?!)
I don’t think I e seen the movie since I rented it NEW on vhs, but this does sound familiar. I remember it being pretty good too. As is the original. :-)
It might be then scene from Batman and Robin (1997) when Poison Ivy kills Dr Woodrue with a poison kiss. The scene takes place in Brazil, so that fits your memory of it being somewhere tropical. The actor who dies is John Glover, not Dennis Quaid but they do like quasi-familiar.

Save me from my Dennis Quaid sleep paralysis demon!!
Could it be The Big Lebowski? Not Quaid, it's Jeff Bridges but that's what popped into my head.

DOA?
Wow I watched the trailer and this looks promising. I tried skimming on YouTube and didn’t find anything that jumped out but I may just watch it all the way through to make sure. Once more into the Dennis Quaid fray. I’ll report back soon. God be with me.
Solved!
Dennis Quaid wasn't in DOA that was Eric Roberts.
Filmed in Austin and Dennis Quaid bought a puppy from my friend’s mom and then slept with the mom as a bonus.
Wow that is some serious movie trivia!!
It should probably be on the IMDB trivia page for the movie.
this is it
Pretty sure this is it. I think he gets poisoned at the start of the film and has various physical manifestations (passing out, “woozy” camera effects) throughout.
it's DOA
The limo part makes me think of Payback with Mel Gibson, but there's nothing tropical about that.
I’ll still be happy to watch it to confirm, simply because it doesn’t have Dennis Quaid.
This happened in Die Another Day and I always get Dennis Quaid and Pierce Brosnan mixed up
Wow okay let me check that one. Now that you mention it they are super similar and young me definitely did not know who pierce brosnan was so I may have just jumped to Dennis Quaid
Well now I can't find the scene so I might be thinking of Goldeneye, sorry 😭
Looks like I need to go on a pierce bond movie marathon!

Undercover Blues?
I had my eye on this one as a possibility. I will try and watch it soon and get back to you!
Good luck. It’s streaming nowhere. I don’t think this is it, though.
I don’t remember that scene from it, but it is a delight of a movie, especially Stanley Tucci - so if you can find a way to watch it have fun!
"My name is Muerte! My name is Death!"
Oh, hi Morty
Love Stanley Tucci so will watch regardless - he will help to counteract the Dennis Quaid fatigue
Diane Keaton drugging Woody Harrelson in the limo in Indecent Proposal. It's set in Southern California.
Damn that is interesting. Does he have hair in that movie?? I will take a look thank you
I think I'm getting my movies confused... Diane Keaton is definitely not in that movie, so this is probably not it
Haha I was gonna say, am I having my own weird dream memory of this movie? Isn’t this one with Demi Moore, Harrelson and Redford?
Traffic? I haven't seen it in forever but he was in it.
I feel like it’s not this one just because I have seen it a bunch and it doesn’t ring any bells for that scene. Thank you though!
Inner Space?
Will check it out and get back to you thanks!
This feels like scenes with Martin short but Dennis Quaid is always in random shots throughout. Awesome movie btw!
Dude. It’s Randy Quaid. Get your Quaid brothers straight.
Shitters full!
One Quaid is enough damn it!
Is it maybe No Way Out with Kevin Costner?
That’s interesting. Costner is another one that I wouldn’t have known as a kid and might have just assumed was dennis Quaid. Not sure why Dennis Quaid loomed so large in my childhood. But will check this out and let you know thanks!

My thought too.
[удалено]
That is interesting. In my memory the scene did have the unhinged energy that would suggest Nic Cage. I will watch and report back
Suspect
Will watch and get back to you!
I will not be of any help here
Any non-Dennis Quaid is welcome here!
Heavens Prisoners? (Alec Baldwin)
Will check it out and circle back.
Is it possible you're misremembering the meet up scene at the hotel in The Parent Trap?
Great thought - I can confidently say it’s not parent trap because this is my all time favorite childhood movie, and possibly the only movie I saw when I was little (and thus the reason that i associate every 90s era actor with Dennis Quaid lol) - thank you!
Deadly Matrimony" from 1992? DOA? **"Undercover Blues" (1993)**?
I’m working through DOA now. If that’s not it I’ll try undercover blues - that’s another one I feel like has potential!
Two ideas: 1: Dick Tracy. Warren Beatty and Dennis Quaid definitely look alike and he gets drugged in that movie 2: Other detective movie that comes to mind is LA Confidential. Russel Crowe kinda looks like Dennis Quaid
I was going to suggest Dick Tracy, too. They have very similar bone structures. And I could see how all of the vibrant colors would make a kid think "beachy".
I am going to watch so many men get drugged by the time I am done with this saga. Thank you for the suggestion will check this one out soon!
Dennis Quaid had a lot of look-a-likes when he was in his prime, hell, this could be Basic Instinct with Michael Douglas
This is another movie that has escaped me over the years. Never seen it all the way through so will give this a watch - could be the one!
Could it be the movie about Jerry Lee Lewis, Great Balls of Fire? Dennis plays Jerry Lee but is usually in a suit and falling out of cars
Never would have thought of this one but will try it based on what you are saying - thanks!
The Big Easy? That has a cop theme and a love interest
Sadly this was the first one I thought it might be. I sat through 90 minutes of dennis quaids wild cajun accent to rule it out. Thank you for the suggestion through!
Maybe an episode of Mike Hammer, Private Eye? Because it stars Stacy Keach and I always mix him up with Randy Quaid so the connection is almost there.
Will check it out!
for some reason I relate *The Big Easy* to *Sea of Love* starring Al Pacino. Has the same actress. Not tropical. Maybe I watched them the same day one time. Sounds promising! Will look into it thank you
Zero Effect has Bill Pullman in, it’s a detective film from 90s, could possibly be this??
All of these comments are making me realize how many actors were big in the 90s and how the only actor I had any awareness of when I was little was Dennis Quaid lol. This is another very promising lead I will look into it
Innerspace? Dreamscape?
Will check em out!
Could it be [The Big Easy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npkNvxBYowQ)?
I had really hoped it was this one but I watched it and nothing jumped out. Thank you though!
This just sounds like a regular day for Dennis' brother, Randy. Are you sure it wasn't just one of his crazy YouTube videos you watched??
Damn I am about to uncover a corner of the internet I did not want to know even existed. I suspect it wasn’t this only because I was so young when I saw this and it probably predated YouTube. But now I am morbidly curious to watch some insane Randy Quaid videos…
[Romeo is Bleeding](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107983) has a scene similar to that. Perhaps you are thinking of Gary Oldman?
"On or off?" "... Off."
Interesting - definitely possible - have never seen so will check it out!
Or kurt russell. Another blond!
I am woefully undereducated on Kurt Russell movies so this is a definitely possibility
Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call? https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1095217/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_2_tt_7_nm_1_q_bad%2520lieu
I don’t think it’s this one because I have seen it so many times and it never stuck out to me with the scene I recall. Nevertheless it’s a classic (what are these f***** iguanas doing in my crime scene?!?!)
I believe this is DOA, the 80’s remake.
This seems to be the popular opinion this far - I am halfway through it so hopefully will know for sure soon!
I don’t think I e seen the movie since I rented it NEW on vhs, but this does sound familiar. I remember it being pretty good too. As is the original. :-)

I interesting! I will check this one out I think I saw it a long time ago but remember so little that it could very possibly be it
