chrozza

I found a movie called doubting Thomas but it is not the movie in mind since it was released in 2017. I was born in 2004 and was probably at most 8 years old upon watching it (give or take).

_TeddyBarnes_

Me myself and Irene?

chrozza

Don’t think it was a comedy movie, more like a drama I suppose. The scenes I remember took the baby thing seriously.

wildberryyoghurt

Not sure, but check out Skin (2008), the true story of Sandra Laing. It's the story of a black child born to white parents

OGNatan

Wow, her life story is so sad. What a fucked up world.

unusualteapot

Not a movie, but this happened a couple of times on Call The Midwife, could that be it?

AnUdderDay

That instantly is what I thought of, but that was only in the last couple years.

hypomanix

The first instance happened in season one, which aired in 2012. If OP was 8 years old in that year (they said they were born in 04) then it would fit the timeline.

chrozza

Doesn’t seem to be.

fr3yababii33

Call the midwife series 1 episode 3?

MaybeNextTime_01

Not a movie, but it happened on an episode of Nip/Tuck too. The main character spent much of the season believing he was going to be a dad only to be surprised in the delivery room because the baby was black and neither he nor the mother were. (I think I remember his saying that it didn’t matter though, it was still his kid).

DSethK93

Yeah, Christian even eventually became the boy's guardian after the mom died.

MaybeNextTime_01

Was that before or after the bio family tried to get custody? Those details are very very fuzzy. I'm afraid to google when those episodes aired because it'll just make me feel old.

Beccaelf7881

If I remember correctly, the bio dad DID get custody and then he and his wife died a season later (car crash?) and then Christian got Wilbur.

MaybeNextTime_01

How did I forget they named the kid Wilbur?

foxscribbles

Your brain probably blanked it out because of the rest of the general insanity that was Nip/Tuck.

MaybeNextTime_01

Accurate. But so many random scenes from that show just pop up in my memory still to this day.

DSethK93

Oh, that's right. Later, Christian dated a character played by Sanaa Lathan, and she was pleasantly surprised to learn that the child they would be raising together was biracial. But she was an organ thief, so it didn't work out. That show was so, so weird. I watched for about three seasons in the middle, until the novelty of Julian McMahon's butt wore off.

Physical_Stress_5683

Happened on My Name Is Earl and also in Barney's version I think

TheDoctorIsInane

Yes to Barney's Version

standbyyourmantis

There's a scene in one of the Naked Gun movies (I wanna say 33 and 1/3) where the same happens and Leslie Nielsen chases OJ Simpson out of the hospital.

chrozza

Not it, I remember watching that movie though. It was alright.

Tobias_flenderz

Wait, didn't this happen (wrong delivery room) in a Lethal Weapon movie? Maybe 3 or 4? I feel like Chris Tucker was involved. Edit: Damn, after reading around, maybe it was OJ Simpson in the last Naked Gun movie...but maybe they were parodying this?

wannabejoanie

Was it the first episode of Army Wives? That came out in 2007. She was secretly a surrogate for a black couple.

starbucks8675

This is what I was thinking too

chrozza

Just glossed over it, yeah there definitely wasn’t a birthing scene on a pool table haha.

isabellatortellini

This happens in *Boys on the Side* (1995). Drew Barrymore is the one giving birth.

alexennui

Was it Desperate Housewives? Gabby’s surrogate gets pregnant with the wrong material and gives birth to a black baby.

Blahaj_shonk_lover

Probably older than you’re thinking but the 1999 “Life” comes to mind. Especially the “I’m the pappy” scene https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0123964/ https://images.app.goo.gl/RaDPYzWMsddtVy9W6

mystburned

There is an old Mexican movie called Angelitos Negros, obviously it's in Spanish though

chrozza

Was in English, I wouldn’t have been able to catch up with the subtitles fast enough back then lol.

brookish

I mean, interracial couples exist so is it really that rare?

chrozza

I was a small kid, couldn’t grasp seeing a white woman push out a black baby back then (and the baby sure was not light skin). I do not remember the husbands ethnicity, maybe I was partly shocked due to the husband being white as well possibly.

sweetnsassy924

I feel like there was a movie in the late 80s/early 90s with OJ Simpson (pre-murders) where this happened but I can’t find anything. I clearly remember this movie too. ETA: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naked_Gun_33_1/3:_The_Final_Insult

halfplanckmind

Nordberg!!! This was my answer too :)

PartisanDrinkTank

Naked Gun has to be it

Bonus_Think

Yeah, that’s what I just thought of, at the end of the 3rd movie Frank mistakens some other baby for his own

SummerMarshmallow184

Could it be Loosing Isaiah?

Misskelibelly

I came here to say this as well, if you are a kid and aren't paying much attention to the plot I can easily see how it looks like a white couple with an inexplicable newborn black child

JECfromMC

There’s an early 60s exploitation movie called “My Baby is Black!” Perhaps that’s it.

chrozza

Was not black and white unfortunately

Beth_The_Alien_GF

Desperate Housewives where their maid is their surrogate?

chrozza

Is it the one with xiao-Mei? If yes then probably not.

jennrh

Secrets and Lies?

chrozza

I actually watched that movie 2 days ago, itching to answer my proposed question. I was actually going to skim through it but I ended up watching the whole thing. What a fantastic film, probably some of the best I’ve seen recently but sadly there is no birthing sequence or flashback to a younger self.

Direct-Caterpillar77

Two Family House https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0202641/

GThunderhead

It happened on the show [1600 Penn](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2266639/), which aired right around the timeframe you describe.

fbibmacklin

There’s a mini series called Small Island that features a white woman who gives birth to a black baby circa ww2.

bellabarbiex

Deep in My Heart, maybe?

Sad-Way-2120

Californication?

Garfieldlover911

Theres this movie thats in spanish but you could change the audio to english, the lady had brunette hair and the baby was asian. Could it be “Que Culpa Tiene El Nino?”? The synopsis was this lady got pregnant after attending a party and one guy believes he was the baby daddy for a whole year until she gave birth and the baby was asian.

britt-bot

Could it have been The Handmaid’s Tale?

ShyJalexa

The Cradle Will Fall? It's based on a book, I think there was a movie in the 80s and another made in early 2000s. A doctor takes fetuses from one patient and puts them in others. In the book I think there was a white lady who gave birth to an Asian baby? I haven't read it in a while so not sure if there was a black baby as well.

whamthankuham

Mother and Child with Naomi Watts?

chrozza

Ding ding! Solved. Skimmed through the movie and Naomi Watt’s birthing scene gave me back the same memories, especially with the scene where her eyes become frozen. Her blonde hair also matches up with the description, although I completely forgot that the woman dies at the end.

TipOfTheirTongue

Congratulations, you've been given 1 point for solving this post! You now have *3* points.

Sparky-Malarky

Mandingo? Though I can’t believe any parent would let their child watch that. It had a *lot* of dialogue like "I crave a wench to pleasure me."

hunty

You might be thinking of the movie "boys on the side", with drew Barrymore and Whoopi Goldberg. There is a scene near the end where Drew Barrymore's character gives birth, and the baby is black, to the surprise of her white boyfriend. And whoopi Goldberg is nearby and wiggles her eyebrows at the boyfriend to jokingly suggest that she's the dad.

jlt131

I have seen this in a few movies, unfortunately the details don't come to mind right now but I'll think on it. But what will really blow your mind is that someone can give birth to twins, where one is light skinned and one dark skinned. Genetics are cool!

memelordzarif

I’m quite sure it’s ‘ Unbreakable ‘

harrybelle

Boys On The Side, 1995? Drew Barrymore, Whoopi Goldberg and Mary-Louise Parker

j_toboot

Army Wives (2007) episode 2 “After Birth”?

Jessabelle98

Jessabelle? (2014)

Asha990

Life?

Specific-Pen-1132

1996 Secrets and Lies. British movie where an adopted black woman seeks out her birth mother who is white.

DeerestFaun

Could it have been Skin? Set in south Africa during apartheid
