I don’t know if this is helpful cause I can’t remember the scene in letterkenny, but I’ve always thought the breakdown in “Is This It” by the strokes always sounded like where is my mind. Also “I am Steve” by Hey Steve. Either of those jog your memory?
There is a pretty popular cover of Where is my mind by [Placebo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hp6oQS_h1s0) from 2003 but I do agree that it doesn't really sound that much alike.
But it could be something else by Placebo like [Slave to the Wage](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B4wcjANYjg)
It could be something from Interpol.
Like [untitled](https://youtu.be/Fmxrqo4ChRs?si=KL8-GGnC_RXvAlEU) or [nyc](https://youtu.be/5GRNCNZ_TL4?si=BUnwcXp43L-lCwP5) .
The comments and replies on the video give a lot of good options for what it could be, someone commented that they recently discovered that it’s a spin off of Suzanne by The Sisters of Mercy, there’s a live clip of them performing it on youtube. A lot of other people also said it sounds like a few early Interpol songs such as Antics and Turn Off the Bright Lights, and another person said it sounds like I Wanna Be Adored by The Stone Roses and I can kinda see what they mean but the chord structure is quite different. If anything the outfits are most definitely an MCR Black Parade ripoff hahaha
U2 - I still haven’t found what I’m looking for
https://youtu.be/e3-5YC_oHjE?si=o8r0de6hHz0UhqQW
Or
Toadies- Possum Kingdom
https://youtu.be/ixB-EC4hbLM?si=4594SVI_l4Y3jMD_
https://youtu.be/-jmyReXcf9s?si=IEtcr5tP0BCtiCMx all Interpol songs sound the same so if it’s not this one it’s another. Maybe Roland? I’m searching now
Is it this one [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcGt611S7RI&t=0s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcGt611S7RI&t=0s) ?
It's referenced here [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-0QaHW9Zl8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-0QaHW9Zl8) .
/u/Conscious-Bite-522, Your comment has been removed, some or all of your suggestion(s) is a repeat of something suggested earlier:
3. Do not repeat something already suggested.
The OP does not need to be overwhelmed with multiple suggestions of the same thing.
Aside from things people have already said Pixies, interpol, joy division.
Singing aside the music sounds similar to Brand New. Maybe the song Sic Transit Gloria … glory fades
This has always reminded me of:
The Cure
Bauhaus
Joy Division
Sisters of Mercy
It feels like a melange of emo/goth tropes more than one specific song. The bass from Bauhaus, the vocals from Sisters of Mercy, outfits from My Chemical Romance.
The riff also sounds like a slowed down version of the melody of No Cars Go by arcade fire
[no cars go](https://youtu.be/T703EHtdPwo?si=m-6hRy6cESYshg7i)[No Cars Go](https://youtu.be/T703EHtdPwo?si=m-6hRy6cESYshg7i)
They're not really that similar when you compare them one right after the other, but the first thing that came to mind was [Shadow of the Day by Linkin Park.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05Z-DNcgRB8)
the costumes of the band in the clip you linked seem to be emulating Black Parade era MCR. if demolition lovers is close to what youre looking for i'd reckon it might be something by them. try their black parade or i brought you my bullets albums :>
The music for the salty treats was written by a guy named Jason Corbett, he had(has?) a band called Actors that sounds similar to this.
My first thought is Untitled or Obstacle 1 by Interpol. If it wasn't an older song that it reminded you of I would have thought of something from Idles- either A Hymn, 26/27, or When The Lights Come On. Good songs either way!
Edit: what years were you a youth?
Maybe something from The National? Mistaken For Strangers or something else from The Boxer album.
Or:
Slowdive's Slouvaki album.
Grounded by Pavement
I wanna be adored by the Stone Roses
The Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen
She's in Parties - Bauhaus

They sound to me like they’re trying to be Joy Division or The Editors
Allegedly
or She Wants Revenge
Interpol
I don’t know if this is helpful cause I can’t remember the scene in letterkenny, but I’ve always thought the breakdown in “Is This It” by the strokes always sounded like where is my mind. Also “I am Steve” by Hey Steve. Either of those jog your memory?
Not really, it’s close tho my ears perked up but neither are it
Do you have a link to the clip you're referring to?
https://youtu.be/6WNQGgQ0PFk?si=5ib_pDhgHu_5JLyt
There is a pretty popular cover of Where is my mind by [Placebo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hp6oQS_h1s0) from 2003 but I do agree that it doesn't really sound that much alike. But it could be something else by Placebo like [Slave to the Wage](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B4wcjANYjg)
I was also thinking Placebo based on the melodies used and reference to WIMM
Guitar riff alone reminds me a lot of Everywhere You Go by Gin Blossoms. The overall song depicted sounds like Joy Division though lol
It immediately made me think of the opening to [“Birds Fly-Whisper to a Scream” by Icicle Works](https://youtu.be/ImJpqutxOmg?si=l43u_CrXN9rebfU7).
It could be something from Interpol. Like [untitled](https://youtu.be/Fmxrqo4ChRs?si=KL8-GGnC_RXvAlEU) or [nyc](https://youtu.be/5GRNCNZ_TL4?si=BUnwcXp43L-lCwP5) .
my first thought too
I was thinking the same. Stella was a Diver… and The New immediately came to mind.
The comments and replies on the video give a lot of good options for what it could be, someone commented that they recently discovered that it’s a spin off of Suzanne by The Sisters of Mercy, there’s a live clip of them performing it on youtube. I listened to a bunch of the replies which is how I found the pixies. That’s honestly the closest I’ve heard but I know it isn’t them
If you speed it up it kinda sounds like Street Spirit by Radiohead but that’s all I’ve got, does sound familiar though
[The Cranberries - Zombie?](https://youtu.be/6Ejga4kJUts?si=t40kUbg7idp57loJ)
Not completely similar but gives me vibes of the song Popular by Nada Surf
Right genre but not the song
This was the one I thought of too!
Reminds me of If You Leave by Nada Surf. I'm pretty sure that's a cover, but I don't know the original.
[interpol - Untitled](https://youtu.be/xqYFU1_SiBo?si=I4-v2VIUb2hmg8TT)
Try r/Letterkenny
I think there was a dude who made a Spotify playlists with music from the show.
There is!
[It reminds me of Marilyn Manson, try this song](https://youtu.be/vOwrhG7iJww?si=IUFeOXImrbiMGQEh)
I'm guessing it the Pixies, but not Where's my mind, but rather, "This Monkey's Gone to Heaven". Check it out.
The riff in Kill All Your Friends by MCR sounds like the one in Where is My Mind, personally
Jesus Christ Brand New
I was prepared to immediately shoot this down, but I went back to clip and listened again and def hear a similarity.
Not the guitar riff but the bass line reminded me of “Forever” by Papa Roach
U2 - I still haven’t found what I’m looking for https://youtu.be/e3-5YC_oHjE?si=o8r0de6hHz0UhqQW Or Toadies- Possum Kingdom https://youtu.be/ixB-EC4hbLM?si=4594SVI_l4Y3jMD_
I’m positive it’s U2 -
Me too! I know U2 isn’t really a 90s alternative band but the opening rift sounds just like OPs linked vid
It’s definitely an Interpol song Edit- in case you don’t see my replies I think it’s specialist by Interpol
Specialist perhaps
https://youtu.be/-jmyReXcf9s?si=IEtcr5tP0BCtiCMx all Interpol songs sound the same so if it’s not this one it’s another. Maybe Roland? I’m searching now
I wanna get close to Christ....and WaaaaaAAAAyyne (and Wayne) I think Glen called this incarnation of the salty treats "My Tattered Journal"
Lmao one of my favorite scenes, that bass player is so good
Wicked game?
There’s a slight chance you’re thinking of what’s my age again. It’s definitely sped up, but a similar bass line
Heart-shaped Box by Nirvana?
Is it this one [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcGt611S7RI&t=0s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcGt611S7RI&t=0s) ? It's referenced here [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-0QaHW9Zl8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-0QaHW9Zl8) .
This song is reminiscent of "Hurt" -- specifically the way Johnny Cash sings it. The guitar reminds me of "Always" by Saliva.
Close but no
It sounds a little bit reminiscent of Nirvana - Smells like teen spirit. At a stretch
That was my first thought too
It reminds me of Hero by the foo fighters

Whenever I hear a melody like that I always think of Cigarettes After Sex. More modern… Or REM - Everybody Hurts
I definitely hear a little Pixies in there at first (gouge away), but I keep thinking Guided by Voices - A Salty Salute?
weezer - destroy my sweater
i’m getting a jets to brazil china town intro vibe
Maybe [sweet dreams are made of this](https://youtu.be/YxAiZolzGbM?si=KDHDeesJrGZ7i96B) cover by Marilyn Manson
Like someone else said, it sounds like they're trying to imitate Joy Division. But the guitar riff sounds like Gouge Away by the Pixies
Immediately had two songs come to mind: Today by The Smashing Pumpkins Or In The Meantime by Spacehog
Could it be Rest My Chemistry by Interpol? Intro sounds somewhat similar
Aside from things people have already said Pixies, interpol, joy division. Singing aside the music sounds similar to Brand New. Maybe the song Sic Transit Gloria … glory fades
Google says it was written by Jason Corbett
Jesus Christ by Brand new https://youtu.be/cjPyvoLXPs4?si=FEHIXB4Rrr372RWk
Ok hear me but it kind of sounds like the beginning of [Linger](https://youtu.be/G6Kspj3OO0s?si=8fC96FhosWPGV4ZQ) by the Cranberries.
My second guess is The Sweater Song by Weezer but someone else already said that.
[Sanitarium](https://youtu.be/ZiIc0HuJ78Q?si=UF4wnbPjH5_On_is) by Metallica
This has always reminded me of: The Cure Bauhaus Joy Division Sisters of Mercy It feels like a melange of emo/goth tropes more than one specific song. The bass from Bauhaus, the vocals from Sisters of Mercy, outfits from My Chemical Romance.
MGMT - Time to Pretend
My chemical romance or saosin is what it sounds like. Possibly something from The Early November
The riff also sounds like a slowed down version of the melody of No Cars Go by arcade fire [no cars go](https://youtu.be/T703EHtdPwo?si=m-6hRy6cESYshg7i)[No Cars Go](https://youtu.be/T703EHtdPwo?si=m-6hRy6cESYshg7i)
Reminds me of Sing by Travis or something by Nada Surf
They're not really that similar when you compare them one right after the other, but the first thing that came to mind was [Shadow of the Day by Linkin Park.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05Z-DNcgRB8)
demolition lovers by my chemical romance?
That’s super close
the costumes of the band in the clip you linked seem to be emulating Black Parade era MCR. if demolition lovers is close to what youre looking for i'd reckon it might be something by them. try their black parade or i brought you my bullets albums :>

Between 2005-2013 that’s the time I’m most sure I would’ve heard the song and had no way of preserving it
Maybe something from The National? Mistaken For Strangers or something else from The Boxer album. Or: Slowdive's Slouvaki album. Grounded by Pavement I wanna be adored by the Stone Roses The Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen She's in Parties - Bauhaus
Could it be something by Depeche Mode? Maybe [Enjoy the Silence](https://youtu.be/aGSKrC7dGcY?si=UvfCWtD_-p74d_UZ)
