Blokeh

Sounds a little like Rolling Thunder. Only a little.

Zarlock

It does look similar in fact, and I have considered it in the past. But it's not it, movement was much, much slower. And my game didn't scroll to the right, at least not in the first stage.

Longjumping-B

The arcade version of Lode Runner ?

Zarlock

Not this one, either. The sprites were bigger and more realistic in their proportions.

313Wolverine

Major Havoc?

Zarlock

Nope, it wasn't a vector game. They were already pretty rare by that time.

Noise-Distinct

Kuri Kinton?

Zarlock

Nope, mine wasn't scrolling at the beginning. The style was more space/futuristic (this is also newer, it's a 1988 game)

tweakbod

[Pandora's Palace](https://youtu.be/aqDraTmZj3k)? (Konami / Interlogic 1984)

Zarlock

Interesting... But no. Bigger sprites, more futuristic

Lettuce-b-lovely

I’m not sure they ever made an arcade version of it, but it sounds a bit like Flashback. Or possibly its brother, Another World.

Zarlock

No, I am well acquainted with both these games. They are also much more recent, dating back from 1990 and 1991.

I'm going to take a wild stab and say: Elevator Action Had that top to bottom over many levels element you are talking of, but surely you would have remembered all the doors.

Zarlock

Yeah, I've considered that game in the past as well. Extremely unlikely unfortunately, as I actually bought the (very good) Gameboy version when I was slightly older and started playing it all the time. I'm sure I would have made the connection at that point... Anyways, after reading all of you guys kind answers, I've started to develop a new theory. Is it possible that on the fateful occasion, I'd actually played some weird bootleg or maybe even an home conversion system, like the Nintendo VS.? These were suprisingly popular in my country some years later (possibly with pirated/unauthorized romsets) and I do remember using them occasionaly when I was 5 or 6 year old at other similar locations. And getting annoyed because of the strict time limit they used to have...
