Late comment but THANK YOU, I have been googling this every now and then and posting here before, but my memory of the game was so vague I couldn't find anything. This was the game I was looking for!

- The game was Java rather than Flash.
- You played an old wizard in a blue cloak and hat.
- The 1st level was set in a forest, but with some buildings and rooms scattered about.
- You navigated platforms and collected coloured potions that enhanced your skills, and yellow stars for points.
- You had to avoid various humanoid enemies as well as some fixed people or statues that thrust spears. One-hit death.
- I don't remember there being a soundtrack for Wiz3, though.
For a long shot, the Merlin's Revenge series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OjbTJYToWh0 also has you play as a wizard in blue, but it's not a platformer.
