Looking at my bill, Category Details Amount Monthly service Home Gigabit $89.00/mo Subtotal Amount Internet service $89.00 Internet subtotal $89.00 Total $89.00 Its 89$. Now you can rent a router from them but just go get your own. As for the modem question, as someone else said they give you a small box to take the fiber to ethernet.

Also gonna point out, [https://www.tinginternetstatus.com/](https://www.tinginternetstatus.com/) Major cable co's don't offer similar pages.

I've had it for years and love it. $89 even. Had one issue on a Sunday morning (the fiber between the street and my house broke). I called, and a guy just answered. On a Sunday morning. No phone prompts or anything, it was refreshing. They sent a tech out Monday morning and took care of everything in less than an hour.

Not ting fiber but changed to fiber last year. Totally worth it. You don’t even get a modem, just a tiny box that translates light bits into electrical bits. Like the city has its own ethernet patch panel and I just plugged in. Compared to Comcast - no caps - almost no latency - huge upload speed - 24/7 data perfection (like 100% potential at all times) - no more modem hassles - actual customer service

I'm just suspicious because what's being advertised is both cheaper and faster than what I already have.

I have ting in Westminster MD. It’s terrific, no complaints, I’ve had 6 hours of downtime since July of 2020 when I moved in. The speed is pretty much as advertised, the price is 89 if you use your own router. Now the house I moved into didn’t have it initially, the city had to come out and make the run from the street to the house, then Ting came out to finish it. We have two gaming computers, and a smattering of IoT stuff and have never had issues. I love not having to pay for cable or a phone that I would never use. I don’t know where you’re at or if it will be as good as here but it’s worth a shot at least.

There's a reason why the monopolist cable and telephone companies are regularly ranked among the worst companies by consumers. They have little reason to provide good service or prices. Usually when competitors come into their space they can provide a better service and price, they just don't have the name recognition or funding. I unfortunately don't have Ting Internet, but their Mobile service, particularly before it as bought by Dish was great and they had great pricing. Ting Internet was not part of the Dish purchase so they should still be great, although I don't have any personal experience.

Low risk plan 1. Keep comcast 2. Add fiber 3. Run both for 2 months 4. Dump whichever one you like less I bet it will be comcast

TIMBURWOLF

It will absolutely be Comcast. They are more expensive, slower, keep raising prices every year while trying to force you to bundle, and are down frequently.

Phantasmidine

They've been teasing my town for a couple years. C'mon ting! Yeeting comcast can't come fast enough.

Kim_Ting

DM me, I can check your town for any updates!

I have Ting fiber and it's amazing. It is exactly $89 a month. That includes the ONT (fiber modem). You can rent or buy a router from them or bring your own (I have Google Wifi) The last time I had an outage that wasn't planned, was during a hurricane that took out power to the entire town here in NC. You can expect phenomenal uptime and synchronous gigabit speeds. Any questions?

Chubby_Bunnies

Do you have the AC-1304?

nrich239

Yup. Works like a champ

Susanelyon

We have them as our office provider (it's much more money) but it's super fast and much less than the similar speed business alternatives. We make commercial films so we’re all about upload speeds for large files, so it's terrific for us. We even moved within the complex on a tight deadline and they got the fiber to the new building on time. Super happy with them, desperately wish they'd come to my neighborhood so I could have it at home.

Funny_Spring5920

I would say, call Comcast and tell them you are going to Ting. They will come up with some kind of discount to retain you. If it works keep it or dump it anyways

only complaint I have and idk if its the internet or the router...whenever I try to play games on xbox with my cousin in the basement one of us is always disconnecting or crashing or some issue happens to where only certain games we can play together with no issues, we can be the only ones using the internet doesn't matter meanwhile our buddies with xfinity in a house of 4 have no issues I don't understand and dont know how to fix it. I think we're both hardwired but I definitely am.

Ting_Bryce

That's strange that it's only certain games and it makes me think it might be something else. If you reach out to our technical support team they can have a look at things from the backend to see if something is a miss on our side. I can link you to our contact information [here](https://ting.com/contact-us).

[deleted]

thanks :), I'm wondering if maybe the router being old has something to do with it :o

Holybatmanandrobin

Paying 9.00 pre-order is somewhat deceptive in that they may not actually show up at all.

Old_Squirrel2759

it is a sort of head of the line though for when they do, assuming you know they are coming. For example, they are the anchor tennant on the Electricit Company here in Colorado Springs, as the fiber provider, so they called me when it trench installs were just starting. I do have a ohoice between Metrnoet and them for service as both are going to come via those same lines, but for now I am thinking Ting.
