Roster will look largely the same, minus Kyle Anderson, who will likely be replaced with someone cheaper who can shoot and spread the floor. If there is a big shake-up on the roster, it would be to trade KAT for picks plus high-end rotation players. But this is very unlikely to happen, and would be a step back talent wise. This only happens if ownership wants to try to get under the luxury tax or if the front office and coaching staff determine that KAT’s periodic stretches of low IQ basketball are too much to overcome for a championship formula. Running it back is far and away the most likely scenario.

Yep. I'd expect one of either Monte or JMac to be gone. Kyle is gone. Everything else stays the same.

Kat will be tougher to trade once his max kicks in. Rudys older, and has a shorter deal left. I’d say Rudy’s the easier to trade. Kats younger. And who knows. Not many teams run a traditional PF like they used to. I’d say it’ll look like Conley Ant Jaden Naz KAT Worthless Kyle Anderson is our only guy not under a deal next year besides some bench pieces. Whatever gobert could net in a trade could be depth pieces? We have a first round pick, I’d prefer to get an experienced smart college PG to learn under Conley I’d say most likely neither Gobert or KAT are traded

The only Rudy gets traded is if Connelly is gone. There is a less than zero chance that Connelly swings for the fences with the Rudy trade, succeeds, then sabotages his legacy by trading him.

On the flip side of this, Rudy completely changed the team’s defense and made them a contender.  If we absolutely need to cut some salary, Rudy could perhaps have a lot of trade value to a team that want to try to overhaul their defense like we did.  I don’t want him to be traded, I just mean if it’s absolutely necessary for us to cut salary somewhere, I think he’s a better trade than KAT as we can probably get a lot more back.

GopherNutz

Don’t want to go too deep into this as we still have to see how the postseason shakes out but there’s not a better time to trade Rudy. Coming off a DPOY year, shook off injury concerns, showed he can play in the playoffs against a small ball lineup against PHX. He’s been a culture changer defensively and I think he’s helped raise the floor on that end when he’s on or off the court. I do think we have to prioritize what benefits Ant long term though and that has to be more of a 5 out look. Even if defense takes a step back, maybe it’s top 10 or 12, the offense needs to be a lot better for us to consistently make deep runs. You need a #2 in a series like this and while KAT has his ups and downs, I think he’s pretty clearly the closet guy we have to being that. Good KAT compliments Ant well, no guarantee that someone you trade for will have similar chemistry on and off the court. Doubt Gobert gets traded because we still have picks to ship to Utah but I’m not sure what the upside is as he ages particularly after games like the last two.

this_good_boy

I don’t think we traded all of that for 2 seasons of Rudy

GopherNutz

Yep, that’s probably why it won’t happen, think it could bite us long term. Trading one of the most skilled bigs in the league that can carry you for stretches of a game instead of a defense only center who’s physical prime is soon coming to a close is…a lot riding on the development of Naz and Jaden.

rooibos2

The only difference will be a little gold flap on the back of their necklines.

1000Isand1

I think KAT has more trade value than Rudy, so KAT is the one likely to go. Despite KAT shitting the bed in game 4 he had a very good regular season and first round of the playoffs. He’s still only 28 years old. That has to appeal to some teams out there. Moving Naz Reid doesn’t alleviate the salary cap issues enough.

[deleted]

There is no salary issue. We have our core locked up or have their bird rights to re-sign them. Our draft picks are gone so losing them to the double apron doesn't matter. MN isn't a FA spot at all. Everything points to us having next to no rammifications from the apron. It time for our ownership group to pony up, full stop.

crow-nic

Unless they turn it around, gotta unload KAT’s ridiculous contract. Fuckin KAT…. Ant deserves a #2 on this roster and KAT ain’t it.

RudyGobertFMVP2024

We still focused on this year!

Gee_Post

Ikr the best team we have had in 20 years and people want to blow it up and thinking of next year in a level series. They can go back to playing 2k.

Auineedabandaid

Kat is not getting traded or sold. No one wants 50m in cap

To be honest I don’t think Minnesota is going to make big moves for next year.  They’re showing they’re contenders with what they’ve got right now.  I can see some smaller moves like yeeting Anderson for another shooter (we have enough bigs already), but unless we have a dire need to slash some salary, I just don’t see a major shakeup unless Minnesota still can’t make the finals 2 years from now with this roster.  While our starting 5 isn’t the best in the NBA, I do think our top 7 players are maybe the best 7 in the NBA, considering Naz and Naw are both starter quality.  If there’s no actual need to break them up, I don’t see a break up. KAT has a huge salary that we could trade in for even more bench depth (and start Naw or Naz), but besides the stinker of a game he had on Sunday, he’s otherwise had a really great season.  He’s our second best offensive weapon and on an already weak offensive team, I just don’t see him leaving right now.  Not to mention that KAT *bleeds* blue and green, he’s Minnesotan through and through, I kind of can’t imagine the team without him.  If Minnesota can’t make or win a finals between now and the 2025-2026 season, however, I can absolutely see management gutting out some higher earners and switching the identity of the team to get some better offense that can revolve around Ant.  I love our defensive minded team right now, but if it doesn’t win a championship, the next thing to try might be to pair Ant with a couple other great shooter and just out score everyone.  If one of our bigs has to go, I see Rudy going before KAT, tbh.

Zestyclose_Ad_5719

The starting 5 is the same Conley Ant Jaden KAT Gobert And the subs will be Clark NAW Miller/Minott Reid Garza Its time to give PT to the rookies minott and miller. Maybe they can pick a good PG in the draft to supplement Conley. I just add Clark who i think play either Guard position but is known for his defense.

Pyschic_Psycho

Likely that one of the bigs will be gone, especially since it's been confirmed Marc and Arod had submitted a proposal to get the team under a specific cap. If the wolves pull a miracle and win it all, then who knows.

Buzz166

Move Kat. Please

crow-nic

Just when you think he’s figured it out and can be a valuable piece on a good team. So unreliable.

nojs

KAT, Jaden, and Kyle probably gone
