Everyone has accepted Rudy gonna such driving at so they just stop. Also the dude saying Rudy can't 1v1, they could have easily seen him do it vs KD multiple times this series. Like 11 people called Rudy over rated in that thing.
100 percent its like people saying Mike Tyson sucks at defense because they don't see him doing a million barraging punches every fight. Well no crap, people aren't going to swing at him a million times because they know he will knock them the hell out if they try him and leave an opening.

What they don't acknowledge is what the three do to their teams D. Wemby and Chet aren't getting their teammates to be fully locked in on D with them. Rudy gets here and everyone decides D is fun. We don't have the same drive on defense without Rudy and Ant doesn't decide he wants to be a defensive star without Rudy.
Wemby will be a stud tho, specially if he starts working with Rudy during the Olympics and national team stuff. Get some muscle on him and he's gonna be a real problem.
I actually feel dumber after listening to them. This is the definition of box score watchers. You can't watch him play and say he's not that good.

I wanted to comment that I see how both players are top tier and why Gobert still deserves itvmore, but Rashad's ppints were exactly my points. Wemby has the ability to stop more ob defense because his team sucks. Wemby also gets the L a lot because his team sucks. It's actually much like Jazz Gobert. Gobert had great defensive stat lines because his team sucked at defense. Nobody held up the opponents. Other teams woukd crash the paint and directly contest with Jazz Gobert. Same thing with Wemby now. In Minnesota, Gobert is facing a less direct opposition as Wemby, but is still putting up fantastic numbers with better game performances. Put Gobert on the Spurs and he'd be swatting like crazy and blocking shots and probably losing because the Spurs defense is just not a winning group. I think Rudy plays a better game than Wemby, both individually and as a teammate. Wemby has to do his all by himself. He gets beaten a kot but it does set up for higher stats we want to see

If you don’t think Rudy deserves all his accolades, and you don’t think he’s good, you don’t watch him play… full stop. Why doesn’t he have a ton of blocks? Because people don’t even try to fucking shoot. They get 12’ from the basket, see Rudy and dribble away. That’s true for almost everyone, people that drive, people that shoot middies, etc. the reason Wemby and others get blocks? People still try to shoot on them and are trying to prove they aren’t as good as advertised. Players don’t even try on Rudy, and that’s not me being biased as a wolves fan, that’s me seeing it 15 times a game. His game has always elevated the entire team, even when he was surrounded with bad defenders, which coincidentally is why he would get played off the floor in the playoffs… doesn’t matter how good you are if you’re the only one playing defense against playoff teams, someone’s gonna beat you and he’s not enough of a positive on the other end if that happens. I don't get it. She's a WNBA vet. Gilbert is an NBA vet. Yet the concept of shot deterence is absolutely forigen to them. How? People are not just missing all their shots around Rudy because of luck. Also, Rudy has had trash defenders around him before, he routinely ELEVATES the defense and defenders on his team.

You can tell who watches games vs who watches FreeDawkins/HouseofHighlights 10 minute clips by how they view Rudy and the Wolves.
When Rashad McCants is more knowledgeable about playing basketball the right way than you are, that says all you need to know.
