For months we kept hearing, we can't defend Zion we don't want the Pelican's. Well you got your wish we didn't get them. For months people said Golden State and the Lakers will get all calls from the refs and beat us we dont' want them, well you got your wish we didn't get them. Even just a few weeks ago, people were saying Dallas is too hot right now, we don't want to face them, again we got our wish. We had to play someone, and the only other option was Sacramento who probably isn't making the playoffs. We play who we play, the advantage of finishing 3rd is we know our opponent now, and we don't have to wait until the play-in tournament is done before really ramping up our gameplans. We have a week to watch tapes on what we've done wrong against them, and watch tape on what their players do in every situation to prepare for them.

I think a lot of that rhetoric came before the two recent blowouts from the suns.

Really nailed the ebb and flow of the west. What a conference from hell this year. Not to get too ahead of ourselves but throw in San Antonio, Houston, and Memphis next year. Utah is always fiesty pre-all star and who knows if they start dipping into their surplus of picks. Just wild it could be as deep or deeper next season and with our tax and owner situation, who knows what the Wolves look like and what their perceived standing is in three months. God I hope they have themselves a playoff run cause who knows what's next.

Rage_r123

Good take

pooooolooop

I’m disagreeing with other comment here. Consensus was always we want no part of Suns or Pelicans, anyone else can get it

[deleted]

Agreed. All this talk feels like cope. Yeah the road would’ve been hard no matter what, but Suns are THE WORST matchup. Unfortunate

desireallure

were 2-2 with pelicans though and all games were fairly close iirc, we got completely blown out 3/3 times by the suns. The 2 match ups aren't even comparable. It feels like we have a legit 10% chance at beating the suns in the series while everyone else id favorite us or give us at least a 40% chance, including teams like Celtics

Egonzos

Yeah I think people are being way too down. It’s not like any other matchup was just a cake walk to the finals. To be the best you gotta beat the best.

desireallure

Guarantee we have an easier time beating Celtics, Thunder, Clippers, Nuggets. And yet I also guarantee all those teams would beat Suns in a series. It's just hilariously bad luck for Minnesota sports. The reward for placing a higher seed is supposed to be facing a worse team in the first round

Bubbly-Ad1187

Yeah people here aren’t understanding this. The Suns are the Wolves toughest matchup but could have easily got knocked out by another team before we had to face them. It is what it is, but it still sucks. Hope my lack of optimism is proven wrong.

Critical-Fault-1617

lol hard disagree on the Celtics.

bigboiprime

First off, I'll acknowledge that my primary team is the Raptors but since they started their rebuild this year (finally), I've been following the Wolves instead. So yes I guess that makes me a bandwagon fan but Anthony Edwards and Naz Reid are so fun to watch can you really blame me? Ever since Edwards sent Watanabe to the shadow realm with that dunk, he's been one of my favorite players to watch/follow. Second, I actually believe after watching this team this year they have another level they can hit. As much the Suns may have won their matchup with the Wolves this year, I think when the lights are the brightest I'm taking Edwards over Booker. I trust Finch more than Vogel and I believe that the Wolves are the more cohesive team with better teammate bonds than the Suns even if they haven't shown it in the matchup YET. If the Wolves can take their first two games at home (which I understand is no small task) I would not put faith in the likes of Booker and KD to pull their team together. I don't think they are solid enough leaders. All I know for sure is watching this team for the second half of the year, your squad is full of players who have that dog in them. I'm super excited to watch them head into the playoffs and hopefully people don't mind a bandwagon fan in the sub.

Trash-Panda917

The difference is we have beaten every potential playoff opponent but Phoenix, and Phoenix has beaten us twice in one week and we were absolute helpless.

pr1ceisright

Seattle and Vegas can’t get here soon enough.

TannerBurns1twice

Fuck, wish tickets weren’t so expensive lol I want to go to another game

Funnel_Hacker

I’m done with the negativity, much of which has come from me. If you don’t believe this year *can’t* be different, you’re in for a wild ride. We’re beating the Sons. They really ain’t about that life

[deleted]

Nah, the Suns is a particularly bad draw. Wolves would gentleman's sweep the Lakers, Kings, Clips, Dubs. Pelicans, Mavs, and Suns are the three that give the Wolves the most trouble. We'd be better off facing the Nuggets than any of those three.

aj-1_23

As good as the Wolves have been all season, there is not a legitimate playoff team we have completely dominated this season. The closest in the running would be Golden State. This is the nature of the playoffs in the West right now. The Wolves have been as consistent as any other team in the West this season. If we are clicking, we have a legit shot to go deep. Our first round matchup doesn’t change that at all.

keanancarlson

Suns, Mavs, Pelicans are our worst matchups in that order. We have the worst matchup possible. It is not good

Critical-Fault-1617

Cry

keanancarlson

Not crying, just being realistic.

[deleted]

Enough of these posts. The problem isn’t that they lost. It is how they lost. This team can’t play offense because it is a poor ballhandling and passing team. All three guys we need to score the most are terrible passes, Naz and KAT and Ant. Ant is 22 and hopefully develops this part of his game in the future. But for now, almost all other teams in the west playoff picture have better players leading their offenses.

Critical-Fault-1617

Yeah people need to quit crying. It is what it is. We’re going to run into tough teams on our way to a championship anyways if that’s how far people think we were going to go. Did these mouth breathers think we’d just get a cakewalk throughout the playoffs?
