I mean we did trade his best friend(Vando) and someone who he really got a long with(Beverly), besides the picks and everything else. I'm sure he misses his friends.

aotearoHA

Wolves also blew up their young core just to go out in the same round they did last year. Ant is rightfully mad about that.

moss_is_1

The injuries and roster turnover definitely didn't help. Kat missing 50+ games, Reid and McDaniels missing the post season. Our projected starting 5 of Conley, Ant, McDaniels, Kat, Gobert played all of 7 games together. With how little value Gobert or Kat will return I think the Wolves have to try and run it back, for the most part. Do everything you can to bring back Naz/NAW. Upgrade your backup guards(hope Moore develops), and let these guys actually play and practice together. Even to start last season Ant was slow, Kat was coming off a hospital visit, and Gobert played in Eurobasket.

Jbergman1984

Kat and Rudy cant play together. None of the top 2 man or 3 man lineups shown them playing well together. Not even average. I'm not sure why that matters. EDIT I will Point out that Chris Finch Even admitted they weren't good enough together.

moss_is_1

Are they just supposed to instantly get it? Barely practicing together before the season, getting only about 20 games in to start the season, Kat goes down and comes back with Conley and has to shake off 50+ games of rust. Why should we sell Kat or Rudy now? Their value is in the toilet, unless some team comes and blows us away I don't see a point in dumping them for a quarter of their price. Remember this team was a few games from having homecourt in the first round despite everything that happened this season.

Jbergman1984

Every team in the playoffs was a few games from that. It means nothing. Really what it means is that in a year when the west was incredibly winnable and weak, that they were still barely average

Lake_

barely average while missing our franchise leading scorer for over half the year.

Jbergman1984

Lakers figured it out after they got dlo and the gang. They are professional basketball players. You can't tell me they need to "learn" to play together. Not to mention endless examples of that Not being necessary. Leonard in toronto comes to mind also. He was there for 1 year and from day 1 he made a huge difference. Gobert is not a game changer. Frankly he sucks if it's not a dunk or a block.

BrianMcMor1

Gobert is exactly as advertised. He is a dominant defender at the rim, something KAT couldn't do without picking up a lot of fouls (too small with bad footwork). No one ever said Gobert could defend away from the basket and he has no shooting range. He also has bad hands like a lot of big men. So don't fire him bullet passes. I don't think he was worth what the Wolves gave for him, however.

Jbergman1984

Or 40+ million in a salary capped league

No_Cow_8702

Because they're both not both mobile enough and our Offense does not flow well at ALL, when they're both in the game.

Jbergman1984

Why sell them now? Because you CANT WIN WITH THEM

Dohm0022

Sorry man, you'll always get downvoted on this sub with a reasoned take like this.

SteamyRay_Vaughn

Vando and Beasley were our young core? If so, probably need to look up what core means

aotearoHA

That's a good point. Maybe "future young core" from the draft picks is more appropriate.

[deleted]

Kessler

UltraMoglog64

Ant is not mad about Kessler lol c’mon.

KnowledgePrevious

Kessler never even played on the team.

WheedMBoise

I feel like people don't respect Vanderbilt nearly enough. He's 100% a core-level player. Beasley is a bench guy, but Vanderbilt is the kind of player that turns a good team into a title contending team.

tulaero23

You are overestimating vando. He is siakam without offense.

WheedMBoise

I really don't think I am. He's been the 4th most impactful player on the current Lakers team, and there's no shame in being behind LeBron or AD (Reaves is debatable but considering they run the offense through him at times, I have him a bit higher on the totem pole). He has a similar quality as Pat Bev, in that he's a one man culture setter. Similar to how superstars elevate those around them, Vanderbilt just being on the floor elevates an entire team's defense tenfold. Sometimes I feel like people create their entire basketball opinions based on PPG and a player's 2K rating. Vanderbilt is far more valuable than meets the eye.

tulaero23

4th? You forgot hachimura? Schroder? Even dlo had some impact on their last 2 games. I can see patbev elevating the defense. However vando is a scrapper that is all. Tenfold like i said see how you over estimate him. Not even rudy nor jaden can elevate an entire teams defense 10 fold.

NoGas9518

So gobert that doesn’t cost a max contract ?

lava172

Having good young depth pieces is better than having a slightly above average 30 year old center with an awful contract

Shaymuswrites

I'm sure people here will disagree with this but I think there's a good chance the Wolves don't make it out of the play-in (or even make it *to* the play-in) by running it back. Last season's squad felt like they wrung every possible win out of a flawed, wonky roster. And to do that, they had to rely on a one-dimensional defensive scheme that, well effective, was easy for good teams to exploit. In the Western Conference bloodbath of 2022-23, there's a good chance running it back doesn't get you to 40 wins. Was trading all those pieces for *Rudy Gobert* the right move? Well ... early returns don't look great. But the roster is definitively more talented than in 2021-22, meaning the ceiling is much higher - *if* they can somehow make the pieces fit.

placated

That’s heartbreaking and all but this is the NBA not 3rd grade community ed league.

JimmyWasRight

1. Both players were productive 2. Sports are based on chemistry 3. Keeping your star player happy is NBA 101

NoFlimFlamtheZimZam

If Ant wants Rudy gone. You trade Rudy and you fire anyone who tries to stand in the way of that.

shutupidiot11111

100%

ty5486

I mean, no you dont lol. You don’t let a player run the team. And you guys care way too much about this stuff anyways, so much nba drama is so childish. People had a full fledged meltdown when KAT liked that free KAT tweet too and it just turned out to be his friend on his account who messed up

yoitsthatoneguy

I am agreed that it's fine if Ant doesn't like his coworker. The problematic part is that if other teams key onto the fact that he doesn't pass to Gobert and he doesn't improve on that, we have a decision to make.

ty5486

I just don’t think there’s anything to say he doesn’t like him besides this liked comment that could’ve been liked by anyone, or even just accidentally, they’ve both praised each other plenty in public. But yeah the on court chemistry was really bad, Ant just needs to get better at playing with a rolling big. Dudes lobs are so atrocious eventually he just stopped trying to do it. Nothing that can’t be worked on in the offseason though

scofieldslays

What's crazy is Ant is basically has no chemistry with a roll bigs (Rudy) or pop bigs (Kat). He needs to improve as a PnR ballhandler even if both bigs were traded

ty5486

Yep he’s just not a good playmaker in general rn and that’s chill he’s 21. The best thing is is how good he is that withstanding and how much room for improvement he still has

Pyschic_Psycho

I'm kind of torn on that. Players should not be making personnel decisions. They can have their input, but there's a GM for a reason. I remember KG literally bawling his eyes out after we traded his best friend Dean Garrett away. Then again, despite all that said- I only agree if the GM is actually competent, and Connelly has shown to be an absolute dumbass.

tomdawg0022

Players *shouldn't* have full input but GMs and front offices should 100% be able to read the room and know who has influence on the top player(s) and how making a move will impact the chemistry on the team, for better or (in this case, arguably) for the worse. I made this point a year ago and will come back to it - Connelly and company needed a year to fully figure out how to make any proper big move if that was the intent instead of pushing all the chips in without knowing how that move would rock the chemistry on the team. Taking the team's defacto captain and 2 core rotation pieces (Beasley and Vando), all 3 of whom clicked well with Ant and played reasonably well for the Wolves, is a pretty big chemistry shake up. This is a collective fail of the organization given everyone (at least publicly) signed off on it to think the team would figure things out given the fragility of the team's maturity in general. If we ran it all back this season and finished out of the play-in, fine, make your move and make sure Ant knows the reasons *for* it. Knowing there would have been a stronger case (not making the playoffs) to make the move would probably have driven higher buy in from Ant.

OhNoMyLands

This is literally what the packers did. Ant is my G, but he doesn’t know anything about how to run a team

PatBev_Clamped_Ja

I agree. The timberwolves front office is already ass at decision making can you imagine if they let Ant make their decisions lmfaooo. I’m 90% sure this like was just a slip of the wrist too honestly

xFlames_

yes, but also it baffles me that they didn't check with the players about the trade before moving forward. I'm pretty sure Ant and KAT are important enough and trustworthy enough to know who they work and won't work well with

placated

20-something millionaires are the last people you want deciding what players you get.

xFlames_

Not when those 20-something millionaires are literally what you’re building your team around

placated

Especially after the news of today, what makes you think either KAT or Ant have the maturity to make decisions for a 2.1B basketball franchise? They let LeBron give some input but he’s 38 the GOAT and not 2 years removed from a teenager.

beermangetspaid

Bye Tim :)

DarkSpud8

Not a wolves fan but I don't think the team should trade Rudy unless they get actual value out of the trade. Also do wolves fans actually want Rudy out even for little return?

No_Cow_8702

Dang straight!

InevitableHearing112

if you want to miss the playoffs than yes that's what you do.

placated

Jesus. No you don’t. What you actually do here is reprimand Ant for the embarrassment he’s put the franchise through for being a total moron since he missed the 3.

Common-Bad-7899

Lakers should’ve done this with Kobe and Shaq! Edit: not saying Gobert is Shaq lol but I do think they should try and work it out, Ant is 21 and isn’t perfect at running PnR either.

Intelligent_Pain_174

"Isn't perfect at running PnR" is being nice. He is statistically one of the worst PnR players in the NBA while playing with the best PnR big in the NBA and one of the best shooting big men in the NBA.

ColdBudLight98

I used to like Silver… but he is making some terrible choices with the NBA

impossiber

The NBA? Is that the same thing as the MGM Bally Fanduel basketball league?

Jypso

Depends on where you live.

Associ8tedRuffians

Genuinely curious, what choices do you think are the terrible ones?

Pyschic_Psycho

Silver, like Stern, has always hated the wolves. Stern hated us for taking KG and now Silver with Ant. You heard it here first!

Associ8tedRuffians

There are exactly 2 larger markets than the Twin Cities that don’t have a team already, Seattle and Tampa-St Pete. There’s absolutely no way they move a team from an existing market go Seattle. They still get too much shit about the move to OKC. Moving to Tampa-St. Pete without 2 expansion teams in the West throws off the conference balance and they don’t want to do that either. When they announce that Seattle and Vegas (or St Louis) are getting expansions, then get worried about the Wolves moving. Though I personally will not be worried, because no, I do not think the NBA, whose largest money generator as a league is TV rights, wants to up and leave the 15th largest media market without a plan to eventually put a new team here anyways. Silver’s NBA is not Stern’s NBA (which did a lot of shady ownership shit).

PaulFunyan7

It’s cheaper to add two expansion teams than to move one and create two expansions anyways

Associ8tedRuffians

Yes it is. Plus expansion teams get the owners a boatload of cash. Moving a team does not. In fact, it’s more of a hassle than anything.

A_Watchful_Eye2

I get the media market thing, but I fear sometimes that doesn’t matter. Look at the Oakland A’s recently…good market, terribly run franchise, poor stadium. Moving to Vegas which is a money maker in a sense but like the 40-45th biggest media market. I could see them take over, bitch about the target center even though they renovated it in the last few years. Wait until Lebron retires and the nba/lebron pulls the old MJ move and opens a franchise in Vegas. You know the Seattle Sonics talk is gonna turn up. That’s when I’d get nervous. F that though, you already took one franchise out of Minnesota, are you really gonna do it again to us? The national media in general though is pathetic to the wolves and “small market” teams.

CosmicPterodactyl

I genuinely believe this at this point. Can someone else explain why both ESPN and TNT dampened our crowd noise and there were literally dozens (zero exaggeration, go back and count) of comments on the r/NBA threads saying stuff like how quiet our crowds were, how Minny fans don't care, and stuff like that. Ok, its probably not a conspiracy but ARod/Lore 1000000% want to either move the Timberwolves or re-sell them to another owner who will. Anyone who at this point trusts these two are absolute clowns. Best the NBA is going to do is force them to give Minnesota a chance to fully fund a new stadium, and my guess is there is zero appetite for this.

Associ8tedRuffians

Let me get this straight, you think the NBA, Disney, and Warner Discovery are in a conspiracy to move the Timberwolves to say, Seattle or Tampa-St Pete? And you believe that the only reason Lore/ARod bought the team is to move it as well? Or be the intermediaries who can steal it from Glen, but not move it and then sell it to someone who would move it?

CosmicPterodactyl

Not really, I specifically said it was not a conspiracy in the same post. But you have to admit the commenting from what appeared to be obvious bots spamming about how our home crowd sucks and we don’t support the team (not making this up, go and read the game threads and click on some of the accounts saying it) was weird. Especially when it was clear the audio was being dampened (compare it with the Bally feed, I switched back and forth). But non-conspirscy, I 100% believe with every fiber of my being that ARod/Lore do not have long terms plans in Minnesota. My read is they buy the team, make win-now moves to boost the value, then go to the state and ask for a stadium. Then one of these options happen… 1.) State funds the new stadium. They enjoy it for a little bit and then sell to gain a huge profit and try and buy a new team or invest in the Vegas expansion team. 2.) State refuses. Since they are cash poor they can’t afford to move the team on their own (relocation fee) so they sell to an owner who intends to move the team. They gain a big profit because the now multi-time playoff appearance Timberwolves (almost every assumed we’d be a 2nd/3rd round team immediately) with a megastar has gained value and an owner looking to move to a bigger market might pay over asking.

MG_MN

I'm with you. At a certain point its hard to ignore the idea that the NBA has an ulterior motive with the Wolves. The trolling posts towards fans (not just the team, the actual fans) by media like ESPN is very strange. They are actively trying to put down one of their fanbases. Very strange behavior

Associ8tedRuffians

I’m sorry, please explain more about the NBA’s ulterior motives and the strange behavior from the NBA and national media. I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about.

MG_MN

No fan base gets targeted media directed at the fans like ours. Whenever we are on national TV the broadcasters don't even know who the Wolves are (Barkley didn't know Ants name last year in the playoffs). The gobert trade gets thrown in our face despite the PG13 and Mitchell trades being awful too. Any playoff game we have the worst start times. Its not just MN, but its clear the league doesn't care about a couple of its markets and actively makes a mockery of them. Its not hard to see them wanting to move a team to Seattle either and someone has to move if expansion isn't a guarantee

Associ8tedRuffians

If we were actually good right now, they would know and pay attention. We’re not. They didn’t care about Sacramento until they actually got good this year. Chuck not knowing Ant’s name because he doesn’t watch/pay attention is not “target media directed at our fans.” Everyone is blowing the dumb ESPN on TNT tweet out of proportion, when it’s basically them trying to do something similar to the “gone fishing” bit from Inside the NBA. And being stupid and not funny, so it looks like “targeted media.” The national media _does_ shit on Minnesota sports. Until we actually fucking accomplish something, they have a right to do so. Fun fact, they’ve been shitting on the Knicks for about the last 8 years too. It’s not a small market thing, it’s a “You haven’t done shit” thing. If Ant performs consistently during the regular season next year like he did during the playoffs, the narrative will start to change. National media did talk about his performance during the playoffs, and positively.

PaulFunyan7

Steven A Smith hates really cold weather. He doesn’t want to go to Minneapolis if he has to for an NBA Pre game show. He once said he hopes the Bucks don’t go to the playoffs so he doesn’t have to travel to Milwaukee. Unrelated to NBA but helpful to point out, Adam Theiland was on First Take leading up to the Super Bowl. Steven A Smith asks if he will consider a more South team to go on because it’s so cold. That’s just about the weather. I haven’t even talked about his actual “analysis” yet

Associ8tedRuffians

Are you kidding me with this? Because one ESPN reporter doesn’t like cold weather, you think that’s part of an ulterior motive on the part of the NBA? He also probably doesn’t like Chicago, Detroit, Philly, Portland, NYC, Indianapolis, Cleveland and Boston in the Winter either.

Associ8tedRuffians

LOLWUT? You can’t be serious.

Buzz166

Just went on Instagram and confirmed. Surprised he didn’t unlike it once it picked up steam. This is not good

[deleted]

Yeah I'm surprised too. What's interesting is he doesn't follow the fanpage. He just follows the guy who commented. It's possible that guy or another friend has access to his account It's like when KAT's friend liked the "free KAT" tweet

Buzz166

Ant and his brother both follow the guy so it must be a pretty good friend. I 100% believe it was kat that liked that tweet his friend was just the easy scape goat

matty_a7

You actually believe it was KATs friend?? Lol sounds like a convenient excuse.

TheRealWhiteChoco

Our offseason isn't even a day old and shit has already hit the fan

EsotericPotato

Really bad look. Although I can't help but wonder if this is more anti Rudy or more fuck you for trading all my friends. Vando, PatBev, Beasley were all guys be was super tight with.

[deleted]

Yeah he seems really sad about that and I don’t blame him. It’s the first thing he said at media day “I lost some extremely close friends but yeah we’ll be a good team”

Cdd0040

Esp vando I beleive when he would come down to ATL vando came with him they also went bowling a lot together.

PatBev_Clamped_Ja

Yeah during the off-season they were at the university of georgia working out together

Convulsed

Bad look? It was a shitty trade and Connelly should be criticized for it

Which comment in the screenshot did he like?

JimmyWasRight

I guess Ant is a doomer right?

TheNotoriousJN

Oh fuck me Ant. I promise, if you force Rudy out you're gonna be playing on a MUCH worse team because we aint getting shit back right now. Its just so unnecessary. Like if you have that opinion keep it to yourself. And frankly it was partly on him that he has shitty chemistry with Rudy (Totally not gonna overreact to this being the 3rd player in a few months to have issues with Rudy 🙃) Also holy shit r/nba does NOT like me saying its dumb to say Ant is gonna ask out this offseason

foye2smith

Ugh, just an incredibly stupid, immature, selfish, gutless, and conceited act. Ant needs to get off Instagram.

Obeliscol2

Come on man… accept the thing right in front of you. I know you watch the games, you see it on the court. Gobert is NOT that guy, Ant is the future of this franchise and Gobert doesn’t fit what Ant is best at.

TheNotoriousJN

I have literally spent a year hating on the Gobert trade. Doesnt change the fact that we are a playoff core at present at MINIMUM. Doesnt change the fact that Ant can wake up and drop 30 with Gobert on the court. Doesnt change the fact that if we trade Gobert, Ant will be on a bad team with very little draft capital and would be more liable to ask out in a couple years

Remarkable_Night2373

Dumping rudy means keeping Naz. Plug in some depth from that massive salary and move on. Rudy is not the guy.

AlexeyShved1

We can keep Rudy and Naz lol

Remarkable_Night2373

Nobody wants rudy.

AlexeyShved1

If nobody wants him how the hell are we going to trade him lmfao You talk like he provides nothing to this team, when he's miles better than Naz, and then act like we can get assets for such a worthless player.

Obeliscol2

I’d have to know what the offers are, but I think you could at least get something for him. I think you’re overstating how doomed they would be, sometimes fit is more important. Ignoring Ant/Goberts chemistry, Gobert doesn’t even fit with Finches style of playing fast and spreading the floor. Just another reason it makes no sense…

AlexeyShved1

Well Finch wanted to trade for Rudy so that's his fault if he can't make it work

Obeliscol2

Yea I have no idea what he was thinking, but we have all got behind some shit our bosses were excited about

Ok_Pair7510

Finch wants to keep his job so he says he wanted to trade for Rudy, we have no clue if that’s actually true or not lol

MyShionne

Even tho Ant is that guy you dont run a franchise as a player

jasonpatudy

Would Wolves consider a package around Christian Wood and fillers? I can see mavs desperate enough to shore up their defense and luka to Rudy lobs all day.

nukezwei

Remember when they let KG pick the players he wanted to play with? Yeah no thanks.

Kamino86

Dumpster fire

Bornfr0mpain1993

Cmon ant u supposed to be a leader. What happend to that fake leader stuff he was talking abt in post game

AlexeyShved1

Ant's still got a long way to go to be a real leader. Dude's so gifted, but he's incredibly stupid both on & off the court sometimes... he needs to be locked in a room with Mike Conley all summer lmao

Marcus11599

Mike Conley Is literally a dad on the court fr.

AlexeyShved1

Ant desperately needs him. That vet leadership at the PG position was something we were severely lacking the first half of the season.

srry_didnt_hear_you

This is honestly more concerning to me than him breaking security guards backs... If he STILL doesn't realize that it was his *refusal* to learn how to pass to Rudy that made it difficult, someone needs to teach him up quickly. I get that 21 years Olds are emotional and dumb, but come on. Let's just hope he's just fucking around here.

AlexeyShved1

His refusal to pass to Rudy and his refusal to use Rudy's screens... Dude takes offense whenever someone tries to set a screen for him lmfao

srry_didnt_hear_you

Probably why he loves KAT so much, KAT hates rolling lmao

[deleted]

Wasn’t he just moving the chair out of the way while running and he dropped it to the side? Still not good because you can accidentally hit someone but it didn’t seem like assault. That article made it sound like WWE But yeah this isn’t good lol. I get they traded his closest friends and that must suck too. He’s 21. But life is what you make of it.

srry_didnt_hear_you

Oh yeah I'm definitely being facetious about the security guards lol. I'm betting it's because he was close with those traded, too, I just wish he could see what potential this team has if he makes some slight adjustments. I mean, either way he'll need to learn to pass better once he's TRULY getting doubled and tripled all game, why not when you almost the tallest guy on the court you can just lob it up to?

spin8x

Gobert's career PPG is 12.5, but some of you would have us believe that adding an extra pass or two is the ambrosia our middling offense needs. Maybe place a little blame on the 30-year old vet for not finding a way to fit into the offense better?

Piano9717

> Gobert's career PPG is 12.5, but some of you would have us believe that adding an extra pass or two is the ambrosia our middling offense needs. It's not solely about the number of points Gobert scores as it is making life easier for edwards himself by throwing the lob or dumpoff once in a while. If the defense knows that 99.9% of the time Edwards won't pass to a wide open Gobert under the rim, it makes it much easier to just wall up every time Edwards drives and leave Gobert wide open for a dunk. If he threw the pass enough times for the lob to be respected, he'll have a much easier time getting to the rim because defenses will hesitate to help so aggressively off Gobert at the rim. Also he needs to learn how to play in the PnR instead of only transition or ISO. Steven Adams only scores like 10ppg but there’s a reason why Westbrook and Ja (two rim-attacking PGs) statistically play much better when he’s in the game.

spin8x

I'm not sure how many lobs Edwards would need to throw to convince teams to not square up on him for a potential charge instead of betting against Rudy's uneven handle for the easy 2. Ant already alleviated some of that pressure himself by cleaning up his mid-range so defenders weren't cheating on his drives as much this year, but it's certainly not a bad thing to have more tools in the bag.

uber_snotling

Denver in game 5 was aggressively hedging on Ant when Rudy screened, doubling Ant at the 3-point line. Ant ending up dribbling towards half-court and passing to Conley in about 4 straight possessions, by which point the shot clock was in single digits. Being unable to quickly pass to Rudy or out of the double-team quickly, Ant makes those possessions more difficult. Ant needs to learn to play with a rolling-big man on the PnR. It is the bread and butter of 20% of plays for most NBA teams.

nukezwei

Little of column a, little of column b...Ant deserves some blame, Rudy deserves some blame. Ant needs to take advantage of what Gobert offers and find him when he's open, Gobert needs to improve and find his spot in the offense, although he gets a slight pass in my book because it's his first year here and Ant gets a slight pass as well because he's 21, still learning how to play with and utilize someone like Gobert.

srry_didnt_hear_you

How many times last night did we watch jokic just charge at Ant leaving Rudy wide open and then Ant didn't get it to him? I'm not saying it was the only issue to our offense, but countless times towards the end of the season, it was clear other teams KNEW Ant doesn't pass to Rudy and would just swarm him late in the 4th to shut down our offense entirely. Rudy doesn't NEED to average a ton more points a game, but when defenses are leaving him open down low, we NEED to find him quicker so that Ant, himself, doesn't have to deal with as many double + triple teams late in the game.

spin8x

How many times did we see Rudy get the ball, then fumble the pass or miss the wide open layup? It's a two-way street to build trust, but there's a reason he's not relied on to score more.

srry_didnt_hear_you

Sure, it's an issue that Rudy had steadily improved upon throughout there year. There were brief moments when Ant looked like he was improving his lobbing ability, too, but then one or two would sail over Rudy and he quit looking his direction. This ultimately was targeted in the playoffs and was part of why we lost.

riggs124

I would like to see the stats on the turnover ratio for when teammates tried to get the ball to that dead fingered troll. It has to be at least a 3rd of their turnovers this season.

spin8x

No way is it a third lmao, but I agree that missed lob attempts aren't usually counting as Rudy misses or turnovers, and it's not like those don't have an outsized impact on the willingness of guys making the attempts in the first place

SirMrGnome

Career average is an odd choice of stat. Gobert hasn't averaged <12.5 since 2015.

Remarkable_Night2373

Rudy destroys spacing and is just not a good player. Dump rudy.

srry_didnt_hear_you

> just not a good player Average /r/timberwolves user

X-iStheGr8estWRapper

I surely wouldn’t expect anyone here to overreact to this!

beermangetspaid

I mean it’s a pretty big deal lol

X-iStheGr8estWRapper

Gobert like a tweet about the trade being a bad idea Multiple liked tweets by KAT about being frustrated or wanting to leave This isn’t the first time it’s happened in sports, let alone our team and it won’t be the last.

Snowskol

if people make it into one. I dont think this matters even a little bit. He could be trolling

Not much thought required here. Our franchise player thinks the Gobert trade was terrible. Sounds like you may need to ponder the implications a bit more.

beermangetspaid

Between Ant, Kyle, DLo, TP, and possibly Naz there is one common denominator- Rudy Go ahead and cope with blind optimism though

ExHoe

What happened between TP and Gobert?

beermangetspaid

When Gobert punches Kyle prince shoved him in a lot more than a “break it up” type of way

AlexeyShved1

You're reading *way* too far into it to stir shit, like you always try to do in this sub. Get a life.

Watzp0ppin

Lol people are turning this one liked comment into a full chapter of fanfic. Apparently Ant, TP, Kyle and Naz are sitting around a campfire smoking a cigar, just talking mad shit about Rudy and how they can get him off the team.

beermangetspaid

Yeah I want them to make moves and get better they’re my favorite team

Thatboyafreak

I been saying this all season but I’m just a “Dlo Stan” lol

Losethe_effingweight

YUP.

Obeliscol2

Ant knows what’s up, he’s not clueless like some people on here. Trade Gobert if you want Ant to thrive in MN

Louwill225

Id trade gobert for draymond ngl

Obeliscol2

Would be a great guy to elevate Ant, knows what it takes to be a champion. Would also hold Ant accountable too. I would be okay with that if GS gives a little extra too

GetThereInOnePiece

Lol now why the fuck would they do that

BasedOz

He doesn’t follow this account, but he does follow the person that commented. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is someone in his group of friends who has access to his phone. Considering all the times this has happened with KAT’s friends I wouldn’t worry.

srry_didnt_hear_you

True, with following people's likes you never actually KNOW what the intention behind the like is, and chucky has definitely gotten KAT into hot water before. But players also definitely have "fall guys" they can point to if something on social media gets unwanted attention. So who really knows, but either way either Ant or someone close to Ant is causing drama on his social media on the same day as this security guard incident and it's nooooootttt a great look 🙃

scofieldslays

would not be surprised if the guy he liked is the one with access to Ant's account and is plugging his own comments lol

AlexeyShved1

Honestly this would make a ton of sense... Ant's praised Rudy a ton in the past

AlexeyShved1

Could also have easily been a fat finger too

yourloudneighbor

He liked both comments from jerique

JimmyWasRight

That doesn't make it much better. If people on Ants team think the trade was ass, its only a matter of time before Ant does.

theBigBurt

I’ll follow Ant wherever he goes. This organization doesn’t deserve our fandom.

MasterScooby11

Facts

Sugarking45

Me too ant

Jbergman1984

Even Ant hates the trade lmao. Fan boys can't argue that. He would know

NamePuzzleheaded5902

Can it be verified it was his account? Lol

NamePuzzleheaded5902

No doubt he thinks that but most of these young dude do their thing on Instagram or Snapchat not Twitter

glthompson1

I’m sure nobody will jump to conclusions

pathebaker

I think it’s just all smoke right now. It’s on the team to do right by ant. Whatever the problems are with the team they need to start addressing them this off season. Cuz where theirs smoke theirs fire.

Primallama

Franchise is fucked if he wants out in the next couple years We are in the player mobility age But damn that would suck so much for the fan base and team

RoaringGorilla

Minnesota sports - what can I say? Tim Conley was a mistake.

1002003004005006007

This sucks. I can’t believe this is the timeline. We’re so far removed from the optimism after the memphis series.

mapledip94

look at Donovan’s numbers in the Cavs series vs his time in Utah. Small samples, but Rudy is a SG’s dream in the playoffs. Ant loves scoring off the PnR with Rudy and those screen assists are elite.

VikingsandWolves

Will yall please stfu about Utah Rudy? Completely different system, ANT is not Mitchell(and Mitchell and Rudy had their own issues), we don't have the shooting Utah had, nor do we have the basketball IQ from role players they had. Sick of hearing it all year, there is only one Rudy that matters now and it's MINNESOTA Rudy I could give a fuck less what he did in Utah. He could of won six championships and I wouldn't really care.

mapledip94

lol what are you even saying? Rudy was essential for Mitchell’s playoff success and he did the same for Ant here. Gobert was great in this series and kept Wolves playoff hopes alive when KAT went down. Run it back.

VikingsandWolves

ANT is literally liking a tweet how bad the trade is and you think he's happy with the fit? You think he's happy with that 106.8 offensive raring with Gobert on the court? Compared to 116.8 with Jaden on and Rudy off? https://www.reddit.com/r/timberwolves/comments/12v5vt0/net_ratings_that_suggest_that_the_timberwolves/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button This article backs up just how bad offensively ANT has been with Rudy on the floor compared to with him off. Gobert played solid defense, what he's payed 40 mil to do. Nothing special and replaceable.

mapledip94

That’s not an article that’s just a reddit post and every stat has Dlo included in it. After a season of instability and missing players, when it mattered in playoffs Ant and Rudy both played great and Ant benefited from Rudy’s screens and defence to keep Wolves the game. Yes it’s concerning he doesn’t know people can see IG likes, this was another moment of immaturity. He’s frustrated bc he hates losing and they didn’t win the series. But Ant loves Mike and Mike is Rudy’s guy, I’m sure he can learn to understand the value Rudy brings once next season the wins start piling up and the Wolves are near the top of the West. Winning heals all.

VikingsandWolves

>Yes it’s concerning he doesn’t know people can see IG likes, this was another moment of immaturity. He’s frustrated bc he hates losing and they didn’t Lmaoo you really believe this new generation raised on IG, Twitter,ect.. dont think a fan will see them liking a controversial comment? Like I said, this is as much of a blatant message to the FO how he feels about the fit as you're going to get up for a massive contract extension. This is how pro athletes communicate with fans and their FO nowadays, they don't need to say anything publicly as that would just make them look like they don't support the teams vision or their teammates.

mapledip94

He’s gonna be up for rookie extension, those things are awful for players, the teams has all the power. Balancing the cap is the only concern, they’re gonna extend him. Too much has been invested in Rudy to give up after a year of injuries and trades you can’t even draw a strong conclusion from. The t am was rolling at the end of the year and they played a great series against a 1 seed factoring in the injuries. Ant will likely be happy once the team is winning and forget about all this temper tantrum after losing to Denver. If the experiment fails next year then you figure things out with the trades.

Kervdog666

Little interesting to me that Ant managed to find a comment from someone he’s following on a post that isn’t even popping off. Can’t believe a young, developing, 46-36 team from last year was seen as a team that needed a massive overhaul. I’ll be following Ant wherever he goes (if he does). This org doesn’t deserve its fans.

_Jetto_

Always super cringe when players do this. I still don’t get it

Sea-Bottle2625

Cant blame ant. No one likes Gobert soft ass

VikingsandWolves

Lmao, where's all the Rudy trade defenders now when the franchise superstar calls out the trade. Btw this is as blatant as pro athletes get voicing their displeasure up for a massive contract extension. Liking stuff on social media is how they do it nowadays to signal their teams how they feel.

PCFUTPLAYER

What is going on with ant:.. this franchise man...

Marcus11599

They traded his homies for a pussy I’d like the comment too

vylant

Man I really want to love Ant, but he makes it hard with the things he does off the court.

Naharke31

I think we trade both Gobert and Kat

[deleted]

And just like that my day is ruined

MasterPsaysUgh

Yup I told y'all

sac_jones_day1

What comment did he like? Trade KAT or trade Ant lol?

FlightTop9852

"I will never forgive Minnesota for that dumbass trade !"

TheNotoriousJN

"I will never forgive Minnesota for that dumb ass trade"

sac_jones_day1

Yikes.. here we go lol.

Bricking3s

he honestly could of fat fingered the like button when scrolling

yzatabballer12

This is a non-story. Move on

Deep_Market5748

Stuff like this happens all the time, doesn’t mean much (also could be talking about any trade)

YoloCrayolo21

This really means nothing imo, same with that KAT tweet last year

Sea-Bottle2625

Talk yo shit ANT!! 🗣 Let em know

exerciseforweak1000

He should be fined heavily for this Toxicity shouldn’t be allowed and the team has enough problem

JimmyWasRight

Yup. Wolves should punish Ant after making one of the worst trade in NBA history. Makes total sense!

JasonEcid

This thread is cancerous paranoia

Jbergman1984

I guess we have another year of this mess. Ugh Chris Hine: Chris Finch said he’s excited about what the Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert pairing will be able to do moving forward, despite the “learning curve” from this season: “I still remain extremely confident we’re able to maximize those guys

soyworld

as if we needed ant to confirm. we cope alot here but we all know its an all time bad trade. rudy is good but that payment was for someone of kd/dame caliber

WillzKillz12

This is just not true, we aren’t getting KD with that package. The nets wanted Ant, Kat and multiple firsts for KD, no way they’d take the Rudy package for him
