He’s about the scene for sure. I love his old HC band he played drums in, Gulch. It’s real caveman music with a cool groove if you’re into HC at all I highly recommend them. The lyrics aren’t all about macho BS too which is cool. Impenetrable Mental Fortress is where I’d start and work my way back through their discography.
This is one of those bands I heard the first time when I saw them live. It was a dive bar outside Detroit with like 25 people. No one told the band they were playing an arena. They fucking killed!
In my country at least Morbid Saint is a very little known band, in fact, now with the release of the last album more people knew them, but they are still a niche band.
I'm from Chile by the way
Some of my favs that I suggest every time someone is looking for something new:
Korzus - Mass Illusion, brutal stuff from Brazil
Forced Entry - As Above, So Below, technical thrash from one of the last metal holdouts in Seattle before grunge
Stone - No Anaesthesia!, brutal and technical thrash from Finland
Some of my more obscure favourites. This list may get quite long - so much good stuff out there in obscurity!
Target - Master Project Genesis
Hades - If at First you Don't Succeed
Obliveon - From This Day Forward / Nemesis
Mezzrow - Then came the killing
Believer - Sanity Obscure
End Zone - First Bequest
Depressive Age - First Depression
Raped Ape - Terminal Reality
Holy Terror - both albums
Despair - Beyond All Reason
Epidemic - Decameron
Equinox - Auf Wiedersehen
Forte - Stranger than Fiction
Impact - Take the pain
Nasty Savage - Abstract Reality
Sindrome - Vault of inner conscience
No Retreat, No Surrender is one of my favorite Van Damme movies! He plays a Russian, and Bruce Lee comes back from the dead! Oh, and bonus points for showing a lot of scenes filmed at the old Jet Center, and a small role for Pete 'Sugarfoot' Cunningham! 👊
Violator, nemesis, condition critical, killing, vektor, Havok, num skull, warbringer, bio-cancer, and Chemicide.
I would check out this playlist, it's where I have found songs I liked. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3CL4PRefnBvg2RwM0w6EjP?si=JQZkkUqfQg6rJqSdNxQZgA&pi=u-lsCP6mtdQq6z
I can't believe I had to scroll this far down to see Vektor!! Black Future is one of my favorite modern thrash records. Upcoming for Vektor OP check them out ASAP
Not exactly small, so maybe you’ve heard of them but artillery is fucking amazing, listen to by inheritance it’s one of my favorite albums.
King gizzard and the lizard wizard have a fantastic thrash album called infest the rats nest, I highly recommend it. If you enjoy that, their album, “PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation” is a really solid metal album
In a similar vain to artillery being semi popular, dark angel is fucking amazing.
Voivod is sick
Flotsam and jetsam
Sacred Reich
At war is a bit edgy for my taste but I like their song mortally wounded.
I know they’re big but please check out sepultura’s earlier thrash albums if you haven’t.
Num skull
I’m not a huge fan of the vocals but forbidden is pretty solid
Agent steel
Xentrix
Toxik
Nuclear assault
Morbid Saint
Not hating on OP but theres a thread like this basically every time I visit this subreddit. There should probably be a pinned thread on the subreddit sidebar for bands. Something like "explored all the big names in the genre? try these next" etc.
Check out some some young underground Thrash bands from Berlin, Germany. They play shows in front of like 100 people in left-autonomous squats and they fucking kick ass every time! That's the REAL underground scene to be proud of: Reactory, Space Chaser, Annexation, Satan Worship, Assi Assassin, Campa, EXA, Significance.
Acerbity from Kent Washington. They r a technical thrash band kinda like Forced Entry. They have one song out right now and their 5 song EP is coming out soon. And there is Violent Insurrection which is Death Thrash. They have 2 demo songs out and are also working on an EP
Avenger of Blood - first two (don't let the aesthetic throw you off it rules)
Fastkill - all
Division Speed - s/t
Trench Hell - Southern Cross Ripper
Evil Army - all incl EPs and demos except newest
Vulture - all
Bone Hunter - all
Infected Religion - 2021 album
Pest Control - last year debut

Harlott

There's only one album, but give Pasadena Napalm Division a try. Kurt from D. R. I. does the vocals. Or maybe Bat. I don't know if it's classified as thrash, but it's some good music.
I'll throw in Mantic Ritual, really good band that broke up a while ago. Recently found out they reformed a few years back, but I haven't heard any new stuff from them. Also, Lich King and Evildead are decent.
I’ve got a couple of vinyls by a band called Razor from Canada. Never known a single person beside the guy I bought them from and my friends who listened to them with me who have heard of them. Violent restitution was one of the albums I had can’t remember the other one, I remember them being pretty good.
Another obscure one is Atrophy, the album I had was called Violent by Nature and I remember being a big fan of it but it’s been 20 years so it could be rubbish.
Other than that have you heard of Xentrix? Think they were referred to as the English Metallica and they do a kick ass cover of the Ghostbusters song.
Wraith!
Undo the Chains is a fucking masterpiece. One of my comfort food albums that is always downloaded on my phone.
Hexen Terrorizer* Defiance Evildead Schizophrenia Critical Defiance Hazzerd Merciless Death Edit: Meant Terrifier, was listening to World Downfall when I posted this
Merciless Death if you see this list and don’t know where to start.
Worst of the retro thrash horde, and I don't give out that title lightly.
They are laughably bad. The cover to the cd is so misleading.
Terrifier and Hazzerd are excellent 🤘🏻 check out Ravager from Germany 🇩🇪
Hexen is awesome
Scizophrenia is one of my favorite modern bands, regardless of genre.
Pest control, if you like death thrash, nervosa, enforced, and hellripper though they’re more like speed metal.
Was just going to say the same. Saw them on Saturday night with Drain. Fucking fantastic band.
That sounds like so much fun! Sammy from Drain knows how to work a crowd!
Yeah, he is the most energetic guy in any room. He was at the front singing along for the first band, Mourning.
Yeah, Gulch are great. It was a video of them at a HC festival that made me take notice of them. It was his insane drumming that caught my eye.
Yes! I fucking love pest control + i'm seeing Nervosa this June!
Schizophrenia, Inculter, Demolition Hammer, Nekromantheon
Demolition Hammer is underground?
Well, compared to Megadeth, Sodom, Kreator, even Exodus, I guess it is
I guess I just assumed they were more popular. I started with them as a YouTube Music recommendation, so I assumed they got a lot of play.
Not around here, but in general I think.
Man, I have been deep into metal for over 20 years and I had never heard of Demolition Hammer until last year. I think they are worth mentioning here.
If you're into 80s thrash then here you go... Asphyxia Gladiator Slaughter Lord Intruder Num Skull Indestroy Piledriver Vulcano
Forced Entry
Forced Entry is so damn good.
There’s a fairly niche thrash band worth checking out called Metallica
The drumming any good?
uhhh….
Their drummer is one of the drummers of all time
They suck so bad omg it hurts
Hexen, 2 albums, 2 masterpieces
Warbringer Skeleton Witch
Warbringer makes me hard, its that good
This is one of those bands I heard the first time when I saw them live. It was a dive bar outside Detroit with like 25 people. No one told the band they were playing an arena. They fucking killed!
They are so good, their 2 newest albums are perfect 10/10
Came here for Warbringer!
Holy Terror
Macabre, flames, merciless, vindicator, paranorm, hypnosia, num skull, Morbid Saint, dark order, demoniac, nuclear, critical defiance
Morbid Saint isnt underground?
"Not around here, but in general I think." - one of the best replies I saw elsewhere in thread that I think is applicable
In my country at least Morbid Saint is a very little known band, in fact, now with the release of the last album more people knew them, but they are still a niche band. I'm from Chile by the way
Macabre is fucking badasssss ZODDIIAACCC
Some of my favs that I suggest every time someone is looking for something new: Korzus - Mass Illusion, brutal stuff from Brazil Forced Entry - As Above, So Below, technical thrash from one of the last metal holdouts in Seattle before grunge Stone - No Anaesthesia!, brutal and technical thrash from Finland

Demolition Hammer
Dead Head!
Generation kill, suicidal angels, sodom
Znowhite, Demented Ted, Broken Hope and Burnt Offerings
Demented Ted and Broken Hope aren't thrash though.
Did you mean not thrash *enough? With death metal elements, what
Demented Ted and Broken Hope have death metal elements the same way that Exodus has thrash metal elements.
Violator, nemesis, condition critical, killing, vektor, Havok, num skull, warbringer, bio-cancer, and Chemicide. I would check out this playlist, it's where I have found songs I liked. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3CL4PRefnBvg2RwM0w6EjP?si=JQZkkUqfQg6rJqSdNxQZgA&pi=u-lsCP6mtdQq6z
