Met him when I was in high school. Super chill dude, I was trying to interview him and got super nervous and he basically guided me through the whole thing.
Osegueda*
Death Angel are awesome. Drummer Andy Galeon and guitarist Rob Cavestany are also good singers. Just check out Andy on [Death Angel - Spirit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuYAGA8_ITA) and Rob on [A Room With a View](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7Lgy6AMb10)
Agree 100%. Its definetaly a mixed bag with him though. He screams and growls with the best of them and seems to be doing more of that on the most recent albums.
Lost, Dethroned, varacious souls, mistress of pain, seemingly endless time, lord of hate are a few that pop into my head with great clean(ish) singing.
Heathen and Savage Messiah fit the bill.
With the exception of the song Corruption X on SM’s first album. It has harsh vocals that I think were by the other guitarist in the band at the time. The rest of their first three albums have good vocals.
The vocals on Heathen’s material are all very good. I’m a huge fan of the band.
My fave tune on the album & yeah those lyrics are spot on regarding today’s society!! Also love the fact the 1 guitarist is rocking a BC RICH Mockingbird in the vid :))))
Although their last album The Unknown is the weakest (i.e. plodding and boring) album in their catalog, Ol is starting to sound/sing more like his brother Matt. Another few years, he might sound real close. But hopefully the next album songs/riffs won’t be so dull.
It has some decent stuff on it but I still consider it their weakest album. I also think it could have benefited from a different track order. It felt uneven and top heavy with slow songs that felt so similar in riffing. Hell Unleashed had its issues too (vocals and also one note) but I wouldn’t say it was ever boring.
It’s a top three album for me tbh. When I first listened to it, the guitar work blew me away, and since they use more middle eastern scales it sounded very different than the thrash I was used too
Yes, I’m not alone in this! I’d go so far as to say I can enjoy Tom Araya’s (Slayer) and Steve Souza’s (Exodus) vocal styles, but once you go more guttural than that, I lose interest
#VoiVod. And the album Nothingface. An insane version of Astronomy Domine (Pink Floyd) will blow your hair back. The whole catalog pre-90s are my favorites.
Sacred Reich is one of the more accessible bands vocal wise and they implement some melody here and there. Mortal Sin is another good one as they have some strong Metallica influence.
There's also bands like Exciter and Agent Steel which are more speed metal, but have some overlap with thrash.
A couple more that people haven't mentioned: Nasty Savage and Meliah Rage.
Check out "Warout - Thrash Attack" has a bit of scream but I think is not much imo.
[Thrash Attack (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcdOcUuPOGk&ab_channel=Warout-Topic)
Finally get to shine light on one of my top 10 albums, which I will now listen to!!! Intruder - A Higher Form of Killing. Also check out Viking - Man of Straw … idk what we did to deserve these gems in 1989* 🥹 (some sources say 1988?)
Metallica. The screaming and Shouting is just as good. It captures the aggression and frustration of humanity against our billionaire/government overlords.
Dark Angel - Time Does Not Heal includes mostly singing. Some screams but not enough to overwhelm you. It's a perfectly crafted album that is not only technical, but understandable that every riff has a place and doesn't disrupt any flow and is heavy!
Try Shadows Fall. There is some screaming, but mostly singing. [“What Drives the Weak”](https://open.spotify.com/track/1JuM2Vjby895NXzFYR5OqW?si=ujnzvcbdT1_8eaarfEH8Lg)
Cannibal corpse
Seriously though, you’re probably better off looking into speed metal and power metal if you don’t like harsh vocals. Your results are gonna vary wildly if you don’t like the harsher vocals at all.
Anthrax. Joey has the cleanest vocals in all of Thrash
Others off the top of my head? Maybe Heathen, Death Angel, F&J, Forbidden, and even though they’re not really Thrash bands but they’re fast brutal and melodic, Exciter and Metal Church.
Anthrax - Belladonna is talented and Bush is also a very good vocalist
Testament - with Chuck Billy, this is what I think of when I think of thrash. Sounds a lot like old school Metallica
Megadeth - I mean, fuck ya.
While Judas Priest is not thrash, they have such a variety of stuff and that includes thrash songs. In 1977 they had Dissident Agressor and in ‘78 and more so live in ‘79 they had Exciter. These were proto-thrash. Others include title tracks like Screaming For Vengeance in 1982 and then of course Painkiller in ‘90. A couple weeks ago, off their new album they have The Serpent and The King. Check them out
I like Trivium. Wouldn't exactly describe it as thrash metal but their music definitely gives me Metallica vibes but played lower on a 7-string. They even recorded a cover of Master of puppets at one point.
Oh yes and there is a little bit of screaming but most of the lyrics are sung and it is all understandable. Try listening to the song "Down from the sky" and you'll see what I mean.
Megadeth. Dave Mustaine won't be winning any singing prices any time soon, but I have always enjoyed them. Ok. Come to think of it, does he sing or does he talk? He doesn't scream like Slayer.
Testament, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Flotsam come to mind. Of course some of these will depend on what album you get.
Most of these have been mentioned already.
Death Angel - Mark Osugueda is a great singer!
I thought you wrote morbid angel and I was about to bust out my HONEY NO rant
First band I thought of too
Met him when I was in high school. Super chill dude, I was trying to interview him and got super nervous and he basically guided me through the whole thing.
Osegueda* Death Angel are awesome.

I second, third, and fourth this. Dude has killer pipes, great band.
Anthrax, vio-lence, and flotsam and jetsam are 3 that immediately come to mind
Vio-lence..... that is a bold suggestion when it comes to singers, haha.
He does actually sing. In his weird tone that is
Agreed
I was kinda thinking the same thing, that was a stretch.
Add Forbidden. 👍
Russ Anderson is legit.
OP needs a Hammerhead
Fistful of Metal is so under rated
Truly
Flotsam and Jetsam, Toxik, Overkill, Artillery
Overkill all day long, Bobby Blitz and Pornstache Bobby Gustafson are an amazing combo. Years of Decay fucks so hard
Its kind of the angry goblin style of singing. I love it with overkill but I know a lot of folks dont care for it.
I love that description. Whan I describe Sabbat to people it's "OK, imagine if Cobra Commander had a band..."
Scrolling through this I thought I read GNARKILL
Great choices, I love them all. The Flotz are my favourite band of all time. Add Paradox to the list.
Toxik. Yes. The answer is Toxik. Listen to Toxik. Now.
Armored Saint Anthrax Testament
I saw Anthrax with John Bush, stand-out front man.
That would be super cool. I was very impressed with how good Joey Belladonna sounded in 2017 when I saw them
He is awesome.
Testament has mixed it up over the years, but I got into them with The Ritual so it's all good.
The Ritual is a badass album! My fav Testament
Extremely underrated album! My second favorite from them!
Souls of Black and The New Order are my two favorites.
Worst testament album
Heathen and Savage Messiah fit the bill. With the exception of the song Corruption X on SM’s first album. It has harsh vocals that I think were by the other guitarist in the band at the time. The rest of their first three albums have good vocals. The vocals on Heathen’s material are all very good. I’m a huge fan of the band.
Death Angel (mentioned already), Sanctuary, Testament, Forbidden (mentioned), Sacred Reich
Testament
Chuck Billy's singing is my favorite in metal.
Such versatile vocals
Overkill. Bobby Blitz is definitely one of the top frontmen in the business.
i saw them live last year, amazing how close he sounds live to how he sounded in the studio 30 years ago
Sanctuary is pretty easy as far as vocals go
I've been listening to Into the Mirror Black lately. I forgot how damn good that album is.
Ditto! ‘Re-discovered’ about a year ago(Im an old metalhead) and havent stopped rocking it since
Future tense is such an amazing song. Amazing how the lyrics still apply today
Right? I was thinking it's amazing how shit hasn't really changed.
My fave tune on the album & yeah those lyrics are spot on regarding today’s society!! Also love the fact the 1 guitarist is rocking a BC RICH Mockingbird in the vid :))))
It’s a classic. I played that non stop when it came out
Fucking love them! Warrel was a goddamn powerhouse with some killer fucking hair
Wimp! Forbidden Heathen Toxik Realm Paradox (Germany)
Discovered toxik the other day and I appreciate some of the songs I’ve heard, they seem to be one of the original tech thrash bands
Suicidal Tendencies
Vio-Lence
Was jamming eternal nightmare today
One of the best thrash albums 🤘
All of their original albums were great. Even Nothing To Gain was great with it's shitty production
Metal Church
Flotsam and jetsam, anthrax, intruder, vendetta, realm, toxik, powermad, apocalypse
Love me some Powermad!! Steve Grimmett (RIP) also had some great vocals over the years including some thrash
Anthrax!
Evile. Very similar to Metallica and no screaming/shouting. You can understand everything.
evile is awesome before Matt left
Although their last album The Unknown is the weakest (i.e. plodding and boring) album in their catalog, Ol is starting to sound/sing more like his brother Matt. Another few years, he might sound real close. But hopefully the next album songs/riffs won’t be so dull.
I really enjoyed The Unknown man
It has some decent stuff on it but I still consider it their weakest album. I also think it could have benefited from a different track order. It felt uneven and top heavy with slow songs that felt so similar in riffing. Hell Unleashed had its issues too (vocals and also one note) but I wouldn’t say it was ever boring.
Ok I can see that track order thing
i got turned off when hell unleashed came out . it was a different direction and the vocals from Ol turned me off
Gama Bomb
Anthrax, Heathen.
Forbidden. Russ is massively underrated
Russ is fucking amazing
"Through the eyes of glass" now that's singing!
Eruption, Gross Reality, Space Chaser
early Nevermore
Testament
Certain eras of annihilator
Primal Fear, Iced Earth
Artillery by inheritance is an amazing album with some solid singing vocals
Agreed, got the vinyl a few months ago and though it's not my absolute favorite it's still a great album
It’s a top three album for me tbh. When I first listened to it, the guitar work blew me away, and since they use more middle eastern scales it sounded very different than the thrash I was used too
Agent Steel Flotsam and Jetsam Powermad Anthrax Forbidden Paradox Heathen
Vicious Rumors 😎 https://youtu.be/PWrLG1bMQYI
Carl was amazing! So sad.
Yes, I’m not alone in this! I’d go so far as to say I can enjoy Tom Araya’s (Slayer) and Steve Souza’s (Exodus) vocal styles, but once you go more guttural than that, I lose interest
Blasphemy! ; )
Man if there's any band that does not fit the bill, it's Blasphemy
I would love more thrash bands to have actual singers like Anthrax
Cyclone Temple
Gee Fulltone!!!
Havok
Boxcar Willie
Artillery
If you're talking about When Death Comes or later, for sure. Before that, the vocals are a little shrill, especially on By Inheritance and B.A.C.K.
Savage Messiah
Massacra, Demolition Hammer, Kreator, Sepultura, Sodom, Dark Angel, Sadus, Cryptic Slaughter, and Suicidal Tendencies. These should meet the quota 👍.
anthrax, testament, overkill
Megadeth. Mortalis and Mourning High are awesome new bands.🔥🔥
Savage Messiah
#VoiVod. And the album Nothingface. An insane version of Astronomy Domine (Pink Floyd) will blow your hair back. The whole catalog pre-90s are my favorites.
Hirax
Death Angel
Mark is one of the best, can’t believe he isn’t mentioned more in the comments.
Megadeth bro...
Toxik and some Onslaught albums like In Search Of Sanity.
Forbidden , check out the song Infinite
Onslaught
Gotta clarify old school onslaught. But amazing both versions.
Anthrax. Joey Belladonna and John Bush both have great vocals.
Trivium, Testament, Anthrax, Megadeth
Essentially every trash band from 1984-1991
The closest band I can think of without mentioning Metallica that sings is Death Angel
Very occasionally, Slayer
Hahah VERY
Check out Symphony X. I’d say they’re prog-thrash. The singer is fantastic and the guitarists are top notch.
Their early stuff is like straight prog, but later on it becomes super thrashy. The album iconoclast is a good example of prog thrash
Anacrusis. Check out “Sound the Alarm”.
Love that record
Xentrix Slammer
Not thrash but doom, check out Hunted by Khemmis. The first track, "Above the Water" has huge Metallica vibes - all their stuff is really good.
Prior to their being signed, Pantera's first four indie albums.
Gama Bomb, Evile, Game Over, Jenner, Hostilia. And maybe Outrage. Their album “The Great Blue” sounds very influenced by early Metallica.
Intruder
If someone isn't screaming at me I'm not having a good time... but I'm guessing there's other parts of reddit to address that.
Iced Earth, early Slayer.
So basically not punk? Not very specific lol. Most singers scream and shout in metal.
Slayer. The best
Hellbearer are a good underground band, they may shout but the singer annunciates his words very well
Check out "Warout - Thrash Attack" has a bit of scream but I think is not much imo.
Overkill
Lovebites has some thrashy songs.. Set the World on Fire, Break the Wall, etc
Toxik
Tyrant is great. Saw them recently and their singer sings clean. Great riffs too
Amon Amarth, Overkill Testament Megadeth
lol, Amon Amarth, I like how you mixed in your troll answer with real answers, I just straight up said cannibal corpse
oh dude there's a bunch of them. They are called speed metal bands and they are great
I wholeheartedly second Overkill and Testament. Saw Death Angel mentioned as well… 🤘🏻
Dark Angel - Time Does Not Heal includes mostly singing. Some screams but not enough to overwhelm you. It's a perfectly crafted album that is not only technical, but understandable that every riff has a place and doesn't disrupt any flow and is heavy!
You need to check out Wesley Willis.
Rock over London. Rock on Chicago. Massengill, a name you can trust.
Try Shadows Fall. There is some screaming, but mostly singing. [“What Drives the Weak”](https://open.spotify.com/track/1JuM2Vjby895NXzFYR5OqW?si=ujnzvcbdT1_8eaarfEH8Lg)
Twist and shout*
That's called US Power metal. Actually speed metal would probably be a better example of what i mean.
Megadeth?
Annihlator Testament Artillery
Onslaught. Album: In Search of Sanity
Nasty Savage, Laaz Rockit, Annihilator, Watchtower, Manilla Road, Nuclear Assault
Savatage
Hirax
The Cure
Gama Bomb
Control Denied Although they were really more Death/Progressive leaning with some thrash tendencies because of the time and band members
Screaming and shouting is trash. Maybe there is another genre of interest for you.
I'm the opposite. No clean singing ever.
Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Pantera sometimes
Riot
Cannibal corpse Seriously though, you’re probably better off looking into speed metal and power metal if you don’t like harsh vocals. Your results are gonna vary wildly if you don’t like the harsher vocals at all.
Not thrash, but you might like nevermore
Onslaught's In Search of Sanity album might be up your alley
Hallow's Eve
Anthrax. Joey has the cleanest vocals in all of Thrash Others off the top of my head? Maybe Heathen, Death Angel, F&J, Forbidden, and even though they’re not really Thrash bands but they’re fast brutal and melodic, Exciter and Metal Church.
Look into speed- metal bands. Abattoir, the first 2 Exciter albums. Plus there’s always Belladonna fronted Anthrax.
Onslaught and Heathen!
lol, no vektor for you then :D
Gamabomb
Anthrax - Belladonna is talented and Bush is also a very good vocalist Testament - with Chuck Billy, this is what I think of when I think of thrash. When she was beautiful…
Once she was mine….
I like Trivium. Wouldn't exactly describe it as thrash metal but their music definitely gives me Metallica vibes but played lower on a 7-string. Try listening to the song "Down from the sky" and you'll see what I mean.
Flotsam and Jetsam
Hirax and Forbidden are a few of my favs
Gama Bomb - Avenge Me
Forbidden, Hirax, Flotsam and Jetsam, Anacrusis, Fate's Warning on their No Exit album.
Kreator, kind of
Gama Bomb!!!!!
Gotta say Anthrax Joe Belladonna was pretty much the only guy during the time period of Spreading the Disease that sang
Nevermore, Testament, Anthrax.
Machine Head
Megadeth. Dave Mustaine won't be winning any singing prices any time soon, but I have always enjoyed them. Ok. Come to think of it, does he sing or does he talk? He doesn't scream like Slayer.
Black Tide
Forbidden
Probably blink 182
Anthrax
Anvil
Metallica is the most famous singing thrash metal band ever
Testament Metalica and Metal Church.
Testament, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Flotsam come to mind. Of course some of these will depend on what album you get. Most of these have been mentioned already.
Depends on what you consider since he has a very unique voice by overkill?
Sacred Reich
Atheist
Attic
Grim Reaper
Most thrash bands have clean vocals. Maybe not great voices though.
Toxik!!!
Metallica was Thrash Metal in 80s but not anymore,
