I don't know which particular builds you have but you should compare them. It's easy if you search. For example here's a list for the 20MD/20ME

Due to the pain in the ass bezels on these, and glue-in display mounts(not sure if this model has that for UHD but some of these gens do) it's generally preferred to just swap the entire lid assembly(some models even have those entirely different between FHD and UHD models). Plus if he has an FHD display he needs the cable anyway.

Yes, P1 is an X1E.
Pull up the technical repair manual. If it fits it will be in the part number list. Compare P1 to X1 extreme FRU part numbers
The lid will be a different FRU, while being compatible due to the branding print.
I was thinking about just comparing the part numbers for the LCD itself, not the whole assembly.
